Sebastian, the Duke of Ashcroft, decides he will be the one to get close to Delaney. When she saves his life, she saves him from his physical and mental torment. A young lady of memory falls in love with a man of fire in spite of him being a Duke. A Victorian paranormal romance of passion and lots of heat. Most anticipated is the next book in the series about Simon.

Sebastian, The Duke of Ashcroft is determined to keep the League of Lords under wraps. After all, the group's supernatural gifts brought the mystical misfits together and nobody is going to tear them apart. Intelligent and wily, Sebastian knows better than to trust anyone--especially an impulsive and intrusive American woman. Competitive and confident, Delaney Temple is hellbent on uncovering the truth about the League. She'll stop at nothing to unearth the secrets they're burying. But when Sebastian is in trouble and Delaney comes to his rescue, their contempt turns to a burning desire. Suddenly, with their passion ignited, they can no longer deny their attraction.
This is the third book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own I’d recommend reading in order to fully appreciate it. I loved both Sebastian & Delaney, their chemistry sizzled & I adored the slow burn romance. I found the book to be well written & flowed well but I was a bit disappointed with the mystery surrounding the blackmailer, which seemed to go in fits & starts. I do enjoy the author’s books which have a different & refeshing take on them with the inclusion of a dash of paranormal. An engaging & entertaining read, I look forward to more in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

She's looking for answers....

This is the third book in the League of Lords series and I feel that they should be read in order. This will help the reader understand the relationship between the characters and why they are so protective of who they are.

I loved the Insta-lust between the two main characters and enjoyed the constant battle of wills.

What I did not love was the that the blackmail story line got forgotten halfway through the book and was only picked up again at the end of the book and was kind of rushed.

This is a great addition to the League of Lords series and this is Sebastian’s story. Members of the League, each possessing a supernatural ability, have been spied upon by Delaney who is being blackmailed to obtain information about the League members. While investigating this breach in security, Sebastian is drawn to her which creates a new set of issues as he has talked himself into marrying another member of the League. Their is a mystery woman who has been appearing to Simon but remains silent. The story is both a romance and a mystery, with the mystery continuing into the next book in this series. This is a great story, full of surprises especially the motive of the blackmailer and romance. It is well written and entertaining. I loved it and would highly recommend it as a great read.

This is my fair and honest review, voluntarily given and in my own words, for this ARC. I laughed, I cried and I couldn't get enough of this story!! I am not a "supernatural, time traveler" kind of reader. They just don't reach me. THIS ON THE OTHER HAND, grabbed me by the throat and held on! There are other stories within this group and I have read many of them. Just brilliant!!

Usually I don't request a story, which is part of a series. Because often it is very hard to understand a story, when you fall into it, smack in the middle. But the blurb of The Duke is Wicked got me curious, so I requested the arc for part 3 of the League of Lords series. And I'm not sorry I did. We meet the hilarious and feisty Delaney, who is trying to uncover the truth about the mysterious League of Lords. Because she is convinced that they harbour the secrets to help her unrafel her own past. But she has a hard time to find information, but she is determined to succeed. Sebastian is living in an old castle, because he doesn't trust himself in a regular house. Often enough, he accidentally sets his environment on fire. A supernatural gift, which he tries to hide from the world. But then there is this headstrong and feisty woman, who keeps on digging into his League. He can't let her find out which secrets they hide from the world. But this stubborn woman gets under his skin and Sebastian finds it very hard to deny their attraction. Soon there will be more sparks flying, but not the ones which set everything on fire. A wonderful story, with some suspense, a lot of laughter and sparks flying. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Sebastian the Duke of Ashcroft has gone to Hyde Park to try to met Delaney Temple, one of the Terrible Two. Delaney is not only a threat to the League of Lords with what she has learned from the Chronology, but she also needs protecting. When Sebastian reacts to a bee sting, Delaney uses her gift to keep Sebastian alive. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I like that Delaney is a strong independent woman who knew what she wanted and wasn't going to settle for less. I also like that Sebastian was aware that most women valued his title more than him. The book started out to be a suspenseful paranormal romance with an evolving romance, but it turned into a slow mutual seduction story with the suspense fizzling out. That's why I gave it three stars.

Bridgerton meets Smallville's Wall of Weird!

This is a wonderfully engrossing series that just keeps getting better and better. In this third book, we have Sebastian, a third son who reluctantly finds himself as a duke, matched with Delaney, an American heiress starting over in London. They each are trying to uncover the other's secrets, and in doing so they find they have so much more in common than either could have ever guessed.

Set in the late Victorian age, this story brings together an assortment of characters from both continents who have various special gifts, talents that have the effect of being a curse. The League of Lords is a tightly-knit community wherein those folks are protected and understood, and Delany is torn between joining them or unmasking them in order to protect her own secrets.

I really enjoyed the way the story played out with her blackmailer. I didn't see that twist coming, but it was absolutely perfect for the story. I adored the interactions among the secondary characters, especially the sweet secondary romance, and I love the way they all come together as a family.

The love that burns between Sebastian and Delaney is hot - literally and figuratively. His nickname is Fireball, and Delaney is the only one who can stand the heat. These two have almost an enemies-to-lovers dynamic, but their irresistible chemistry doesn't allow them to remain enemies for long. I absolutely loved both characters separately and together, and their hard-won HEA was sheer perfection. I can't wait to read Simon's story next! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

The Duke is Wicked is Sebastian Tremont the Duke of Ashcroft’s story. He’s is one of the League of supernatural gifted people, his gift is fire starting and often destructive in nature. He was forced to hide it as a child and even tortured by his father. The League has their sights on a new gifted lady Delaney and her twin brother known as the Terrible Two from America. A captivating story of how supernatural gifted people have learned to adopt and live with their gifts. We see the Duke as a heartless man who doesn’t want to love and be hurt, but is drawn to Delany against his better judgement. The groups is rushing to solve a mystery of who’s blackmailing her to gain information about them and the Soul Catcher. I love witty banter and competitive nature as they learn to try and control their gifts as their attraction and the sexual tension grows out of control and things start to fire up! I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.

Another enjoyable read! This is book three in the series, can be a standalone, but I believe better if one read the 1st two books. The League of Lords has only members which has gifts or curses of the supernatural. In the case of the Duke of Ashford, his is a fire thrower. His father abused his third son, trying to rid him of the curse. As Sebastian grew up he went into the service, but upon his return found his family had all passed away from cholera. Making him the 6th Duke of Ashford. He was recruited by Julian into the League and he finally found the family he always wanted. Being the protector of the group he is trying to find out what the American twins are up to. Commonly known as the Terrible Two, but it is Delaney that seems to be the troublemaker. What was she doing in Julian house dressed in disguise? The story of Sebastian and Delaney is a roll coaster ride that will have you turning pages in record time.

This is one of those series that gets better with every book. This may have been a chapter or two too long which just dragged out the conflict between Sebastian and Delaney. I did like that Delaney realized she may have been misunderstanding what Sebastian was trying to tell her when he said being with her was not a good idea. She was frustrating me in her refusal to really listen to what he was trying to tell her and ignoring his very real concerns and fears about the future. She came around in the end and so I couldn't stay mad at her. Her insecurities made sense given her background and feelings that she didn't really fit in anywhere. I would have liked to have seen a little more between Case and Kitty - if Tracy Sumner ever wanted to write a short story about that couple I would happily read it! The blackmail that brought Delaney to the notice of the League was a little weak and was kind of dropped about half way through. I'm sure more on Emma and her reasons for going after Delaney will be explained in the next book.

A wickedly delightful historical romance. Nice blend of heated scenes and the London backdrop. The Duke of Ashcroft meets a most unlikely mate in the form of Delaney Temple. It's a forbidden love but when has that ever stopped True Love. Good solid characters and dialogue. Totally enjoyed it.

“The Duke is Wicked” is the third book in the wonderful ‘League of Lords’ series from Tracy Sumner. After experiencing the excellent first 2 books in the series, I have been eagerly awaiting this one. And I learned what is now my new favorite word for tipsy or inebriated: Sozzled. I hope you’ve already had the pleasure of reading the previous book in this series, but if you haven’t don’t worry because you can definitely enjoy this story as a stand-alone. I will warn you that you’ll want to go back and read those other books when you’re done with this one.

This series blends Regency romance with all different types of characters possessing supernatural abilities. Sebastian, the Duke, has been blessed/cursed with the ability to start fires, but it is an ability he struggles to control. He was such an intriguing character already in the series, another we get to learn so much more about him he becomes even more compelling. Such a beautiful but tormented soul. Delaney, a young American woman in England for mysterious reasons to do with her astounding brain, turns out to be the woman who sets his shielded heart on fire – much to his dismay. She is unabashedly unconventional, yet ironically she yearns for very conventional dream of having a husband who will loving and devoted to her.

The complicated and passionate relationship that develops between them reveals closely guarded secrets, fears and dreams. I found a little bit of the crisis surrounding Delaney somewhat confusing, but aside from that I thought this story was terrific. Sebastian and Delaney much each face their own respective demons and decide if the path forward is one they will take together. The secondary characters add lots of vibrancy to the story, and I thought the ending was excellent. The set up for the next book in the series show may give you chills! I’m looking forward to it already.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Duke is Wicked is a HOT, STEAMY, TANTALIZING read! Tracy Sumner has near wrecked me with the ravishing Duke of Ashcroft he is everything you want in a man and a man who you want to just devour you all night long. the heroine Delaney is the perfect match for this ravishing Duke. I loved every aspect of this historical romance and its perfect for anyone who loves the genre!

This book is captivating, easy to read and page turning. It has a suspense and mystery elements. This isn't my prefered type of romance (paranormal), but I really loved the romance parts.

I didn't read first two books, so I had a feeling there was something missing, I suggest you read first two books for easier explanation.

This was my second book from this author and I love her writting style.
Giving it 4 stars because of the paranormal plot, which I don't prefer to read.

Maybe 3.5 stars

When it becomes clear that the League’s scared book ~ The chronology has been accessed by someone outside the League, they want answers. Using their gifts, they determine the culprit is none other than Delaney Temple, one of the “Terrible Two”, she and her twin brother recently arrived from America, gossip has it that Delaney is a hellion, an heiress with no interest in marriage. Julian knows that she accessed the book when she came to his home and pretended to need help with her carriage, but they want to know why and more importantly how she was able to copy a book with more than a thousand pages when she had less than 10 minutes. These are questions that need answers and Sebastian Tremont, the Duke of Ashcroft is the man to get them!

But when Sebastian approaches Delaney, he is dumbstruck by her, and unfortunately, before he can regain his senses, he is stung by a bee and suffers an allergic reaction. Delaney jumps into action and saves his life by removing the stinger and giving him mouth to mouth – an act that parkgoers assume was a kiss. Delaney takes Sebastian back to her home and tends him and in doing so learns more about him and the League. Delaney doesn’t want to harm the members, she has a gift herself – she stores information in what she calls her “attic” which contains all the books and information she has collected – she enters and it is like a library and she can reread anything she has stored. But her gift isn’t the reason she is interested in the League, someone is blackmailing her and demanding information about The chronology and the League’s members – someone who followed her from America and will destroy not only her but her brother as well if she doesn't comply.

When Sebastian recovers, he wants answers, but Delaney isn’t cooperating, so he whisks her and her brother away to his castle in Oxfordshire. Sebastian and Delaney try to figure out who is blackmailing her and soon realize that her blackmailer is not the threat they believed. Once the threat has passed, Sebastian finally has to confront his attraction to Delaney and attracted though he is and even though his feelings are engaged, Sebastian is sure Delaney is all wrong for him, he is a Firestarter and thinks he needs someone who will calm him and it is clear that Delaney inflames him. But the heart wants what the heart wants and once they give in to their passion, Sebastian decides that they will marry – too bad Delaney doesn’t agree to his terms.

This is the second book I have read by this author, and I am still not sure if I am a fan or not. The author’s writing style is at times almost secretive – like the author doesn’t want the reader to be privy to any of the character's secrets or inner thoughts, but this book was less so than the first book I read. She also butchers formal address and nobility titles – again, not as bad in this book as the first -but still enough to be annoying to me. Personally, I found this story was much more engaging than the previous book I read and I found Sebastian and Delaney very easy to like, the chemistry between them was amazing (the author did a great job with their slow-burn romance) and Sebastian's final proposal was magnificent. So while she nailed their interactions, I felt that the mystery of the blackmailer was completely anticlimactic and the storyline was dropped about the halfway point and seemed to be forgotten until the epilogue. Overall, it was a decent read, but still not something I would read again. This is the third book in the series and I would recommend reading the books in order as the author can be a bit stingy about sharing details.

This was a fun book. I love the mixture of historical romance and paranormal or fantasy romance. I will say that if you haven’t read the other books in the series there were parts that were difficult to follow. Also at times it was a bit wordy and hard to track. But overall, it was a fun read and I enjoyed it. I look forward to seeing where the next book goes and what happens with Simon and the girl out of time.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review before publication, this in no way impacted my review and published thoughts. Thank you for the opportunity give my unbiased opinion about this book.

If you like Victorian romances, enemies-to-lovers stories, or paranormal adventures this book may be your next read. Tracy Summer has managed to wrap all of this into her latest installments of her League of Lords series (which can be read alone but would probably more satisfying if you had read the others preceding this one).

Delaney is a smart, competitive, and very talented woman who is bursting with attitude and life. Sebastian has closed himself off except for a chosen few because he is terrified he will kill them with ability to produce fire. Different in temperament, they are also on opposite sides. She is being blackmailed to steal something that he needs to keep his talent under control.

I really like their relationship; they complement each other very well. My favorite parts were when they spend quiet moments together discovering things about each other: his violin playing and her love of history. Of course there are many obstacles in the way of being together. The largest is his fear that he will kill her with his power. I think the author handled that well and didn’t have Delaney be able to just push aside his fears.

However, it seems to me the big threat of the person blackmailing Delaney sort of peters out. Suddenly they act like that person isn’t a threat anymore. Their level of alertness should decline slowly as time goes by and nothing happens. It very abrupt and then the group is on to the next obstacle about what is keeping Delaney and Sebastian apart.

Overall, though, a nice romance, drama to keep the plot moving forward and a storyline that continues into the next book that makes you want to grab the next one when it comes out.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free ARC in return for an honest opinion.

The Duke is Wicked by Tracy Sumner
Third story in this historical romance series with characters with superpowers. Two things that I love! Miss Delaney Temple and the Duke of Ashcroft. What a par! Strong willed, passionate and with their powers playing a strong role that was threatening their future. Interesting the Duke’s struggle with his emotions, his lack of control and his need to protect Delaney even from himself. Delaney Temple was an enigma and a threat upon her was affecting his decisions. I liked the strength of the attraction between the characters, that Miss Temple knew how to put down the Duke's defenses, the affection and camaraderie between the supporting characters, and the mystery that seems to continue in the next book. Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from Net Galley and I liked.

Fire and Passion!

[I received an ARC ebook copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. Thank you for the book!]

[What I liked:]

•The prologue reminds me of Frozen—a young child is blessed (cursed?) with a supernatural gift, who is cowed into hiding it. This inspired empathy in me for Sebastian early on, and made me want to follow his journey to finding self-acceptance.

•The prose is decent: easy to follow, a good balance of description and dialogue, with nice touches of wit & humor.

•I enjoyed the descriptions of how the supernatural powers work, what the limitations & weaknesses are, etc.

•The chemistry was good, once the romance storyline got going. I bought the main couple’s attraction, the development of their growing affection, their personality clashes that were consistent with the MC’s characterizations, & I enjoyed their battle of wills.

•The romance storyline was very emotionally satisfying, I think largely due to good pacing of it.

•I really like the series’s premise of a chosen family of supernaturally gifted misfits! I want to read more of the series to learn more about the other characters.

[What I didn’t like as much:]

•There are lots of sentences (dangling dependent clauses) with no verbs. This is a stylistic choice I can appreciate, but it sometimes got confusing in this book. I’d lose track of what was being narrated.

•Some sentences are very long, with multiple embedded clauses. Again, this is not necessarily a bad stylistic choose, but sometimes I would lose track of what was happening because the sentences were so long.

•Sometimes there was overuse of commas when a semi-colon or just starting a new sentence would have helped with clarity (see above).

•There was insta-lust between the two MC’s. This isn’t necessarily a problem, but in this case it made it hard for me to suspend my disbelief. It felt contrived specifically because it was emphasized that neither MC had felt any spark of physical attraction, whatsoever, in years—and all of a sudden, both of them are instantly, overwhelmingly attracted to each other. What are the odds, eh?

•There is good emotional depth, but much of the dialogue was a bit cheesy/more poetic than how people converse in real life.

•The main danger introduced in the plot was suddenly assumed to no longer be dangerous halfway through the story, based on little evidence. That plot line was just dropped from any mention until the epilogue (which is only mentioned there to set up the next book). That sudden collapse of danger deflated a good bit of narrative tension. Although there was plenty of continuing drama & tension on the romantic front, the sudden fizzle of any external danger was clumsily handled. I might have given 4 stars to this book if not for this issue.

•While I liked the world building and info about the powers in the book, I would have liked some more! For example, why emotion caused Sebastian to lose control over his power.
