This is a lovely kids book about keeping an open mind to others, told through the perspective of a mouse violinist. I adored the art style and the message was lovely. A great book for young kids!

Fun colorful cut out illustrations, which follow a delightful little mouse through the forest to identify different sounds and how the mouse shares them with her siblings.

Definitely recommend this for a little bit older child, as it’s a little wordy for a toddler. It was a great story, and the lesson of being open minded is always one that people can use. Definitely recommend.

A clever little piece, this has a musical mouse with her three siblings, only she happens to be far too adventurous for the rest of them. They normally play in a string trio with piano, but when she branches out, and tries to collaborate with birds singing, with an army of rhythmical soldier ants, and more, they scoff. Things only get worse when she hears a different troupe of mice with their even more different music. Of course, this could be a moral story about racism as well as broadening your church where music is concerned, but what pins it down to being about the music is, oddly, the visual style. There's a great, tempestuous representation of an argument on these pages, and the music itself is portrayed very well, in semi-abstract form. So yes, try the sounds that other people like to make and hear, experiment and have fun and mix everyone up together is the lesson given, and it's given in fine fashion here. A strong four stars.
