i actually loved this. yes it is a children’s book. but i loved it. it’s so educational, and i learnt things i didn’t know about pronouns. i love that books like this are being made to educate children on things like this and it is so important they know things like this, so they can get around in the world and learn respect for people and their gender identities. also the art was really cute-
so yeah i definitely recommend this book if you want to be that little bit more educated on pronouns and gender identity, or you have a little one want to be educated on this!

Just a few weeks ago, I had a conversation with my stepdaughter about pronouns. Someone in her family made it public that they prefer they/them pronouns and want to be addressed by a different name. My stepdaughter had never experienced that and was sort of confused. I explained how we should always respect someone else’s chosen name and pronouns, and after a few questions she had it! It was a lovely moment.

Except for that I’m not always the best at explaining things clearly and concisely, especially not to an elementary school aged kid. And I didn’t use the opportunity to explain what cis and trans meant, nor what intersex meant. I so wish I’d had The Pronoun Book to pull out once we got home so that I could continue the conversation!

The Pronoun Book does an excellent job of providing terms, examples, and encouragement for any kids who might have questions about what personal pronouns are and what they mean. Normalizing asking for pronouns is so important, so I really loved that the book included that page as well. The glossary and resources in the back of the book I just know are going to be so helpful to so many kids and parents alike. I’m so happy The Pronoun Book exists and would recommend that every parent add it to their child’s bookshelf, but also to read it themselves!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read an eARC of this book!

This was a fantastic book and highly educational. Great explanations of pronouns and the difference biological sex and gender. It is written for children and would be easy to understand with guidance but it could also be an easy introduction for adults who need an easy explanation of pronouns and gender identities. There is a lot of information so children would definitely need guidance but the author has planned for that and included great tips and resources, including a pronouns chart (which includes neo-pronouns), a glossary of terms, and sample letters for parents of kids who choose pronouns other than those that align with their assigned gender at birth.

This was such a cute picture book to explain pronouns! The wording was easy to understand and the accompanying illustrations were bright, colorful, and so beautifully diverse! I loved how at the end there was a more in-depth explanation for adults, including example letters to send to school or the parents of friends to explain if their child goes by different pronouns. I think this will be a great book to teach the next generation all about pronouns and how to be accepting and respectful towards all different walks of life!

This would be a great resource for the beginning of the school year in elementary grades. It would also be great for some adults, honestly. I love the diversity of the pictures and the glossary at the end. I could see this being a book that is kept in classrooms, even though it is a little bit long and may also be a little confusing to the audience with so many new words. However, this is really important to teach two kids so that they can be respectful of their peers and learn more about people who are different from them.

Thank you to NetGalley and Jessica Kingsley Publishers for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
The Pronoun Book is an educational and practical tool for teaching everyone, children and adults, about gender and correct pronoun usage. I want to start off by saying that I don't think this book is currently meant for kindle, as the copy I received had major issues with layout, repeating words, missing words, and missing illustrations. I understand that the book is still in the works and hopefully this will be resolved before further distribution, but if you plan on getting this on kindle I'd suggest looking at the sample pages first to see how it looks for you. ANYWAYS, besides the layout issues, The Pronoun Book still had beautiful illustrations and all the resources I'd want out of a book like this. The glossary and letter outlines are a great aid that will continue to be useful after the first read. As someone who has tried many different pronouns and labels for myself, I appreciate the language The Pronoun Book uses surrounding gender. It goes beyond just teaching the reader how to use different pronouns grammatically and provides the foundation for important conversations about identity, respect, and communication. It's also neat to see a book mention neo-pronouns, I haven't seen a lot of resources about them before! This is definitely a book I'd recommend to anyone, especially children and parents/guardians/teachers.

This is a great look at pronouns and how they differentiate from one person to the other. I think this is a great guide for kids and families and the illustrations are really diverse and represent lots of different cultures and people.

I was granted eARC access to The Pronoun Book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

The Pronoun Book does exactly what you might expect a book with such a title to do: explains pronouns. A series of beautifully illustrated characters explain cis and trans gender, intersex, non-binary identities, etc. and all the different pronouns people may choose to use. It's written in a way that young kids will understand easily, but not in such a childish way that adults can't benefit from it as well.

I want to see a copy of this in every Kindergarten to third-grade classroom and in every primary/elementary school library! This book could also be a great resource for teaching older individuals, too, though. It's short, to the point, and as mentioned not too childish. Need a quick intro? Grab this book. Have a stubborn friend who's being childish in their refusal to learn? Play it up and give thems a kid's book on the topic. Versatility, baby! But in all seriousness, if you've ever wondered about pronouns or know a kid who's asking about the topic, this is a great quick starting point.

The book provides both young and old readers with easy and well-explained information about the different options and reasons behind the several kinds of pronouns.
The inclusivity of this book is shown in every page, starting from the cover.
I really appreciated the final part of the book. The reader can find practical advice to adults and some example of letters to send to teachers, family members and friends.
This is the kind of book that I will gift to all the kids I know :)

A perfect guide to pronouns, gender identity and more. I personally think that this would be a brilliant book for kinds (and some adults as well) to understand from a young age to respect others identity and also start to understand and accept their own. I loved the diversity represented in the book, aside from gender identity, with its inclusion of people of different ethnicities, religions, colours. I genuinely think that every school should have a copy or two of this book and it could be perfect to start a discussion in class or at home.

A simple but comprehensive guide to pronouns, identity, and how we can all be respectful of each other's identities.

This was lovely! It made me wish I had resources like this when I was young. It's very informative and will probably be overwhelming at first, but the book provides tips for further education/understanding and a glossary. It would be very useful for parents and teachers to have, and the art of it is amazing. Overall, fantastic.

I loved this. It was very informative and engaging and I think kids will love learning about pronouns with this book.
The illustrations were very pretty, I loved them.

As a non binary person myself who uses fae/faer pronouns I am very happy that this book included an explanation about neopronouns, although nothing was mentioned about them primarily being used by neurodivergent people (which isn’t a huge problem, but I would have preferred to see it mentioned).

I believe children will learn a lot from this book and at the end there’s extra information included for parents to explain things further to them.

I found this book to be extremely educating and engaging. I loved the way the author used the illustrations to invoke conversations in a child friendly way. I was also extremely grateful for the resources at the end of the book including the pronoun chart!

The Pronoun book is a great teaching tool for any kiddo! The illustrations in the book are beautiful, and the simple explanation of pronouns and gender identity is simply phenomenal. The author does a great job at using examples and scenarios of each gender identity and using each pronoun in a sentence so children can understand how to use them. I especially enjoyed the scene when you were taught what to do when you use the wrong pronoun, and how to simply ask someone their pronouns when you meet them. This is something we need to get used to and this book does an excellent job. I can not wait for publishing and I hope you all enjoy this book too.

What a cute, simple yet informative book! Great for all readers, young and old. The cute, diverse illustrations really contributed to the reading experience.

In particular, older readers will likely appreciate the Tips and Resources for Adults, Pronoun Chart, Glossary of Terms, and Sample Letters to send to schools and parents of your child's friends.

This may not provide much new information for those already familiar with topics relating to gender identity and pronoun use, but it is a nice review.

I wish one of the character examples could have used she/they or he/they pronouns, but this was a great read!

As the title suggests, this book is aimed at teaching children about different pronouns, why they are used, and why using appropriate pronouns is necessary, It is aimed for children but this should most definitely be read by every person.

I just absolutely loved this book. I loved the simplistic way pronouns and other terms were described. I also truly loved how the author added the tips for adults and a pronoun chart, they illustrations were beautifully done. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this book.

Thanks to netgalley, Jessica Kingsley Publishing, and Cassandra Jules Corrigan for the opportunity to review.

This picture book is for EVERYONE! Adults and children alike will learn something new from this fantastic book. Cassandra Corrigan introduces pronouns in a factual manner. Corrigan then explains that gender exists on a continuum. She uses illustrations, definitions, and terms that are easy to understand for folx of every age.

I believe that this book should be required reading in every class (from preschool to high school). This will also be a go-to present for children in my life. This book deserves all of that stars!
