Sometimes you start a novel expecting one thing - and you get that, but also much more. There were many layers to this story and characters I came to care so much about; it definitely didn't feel like a quick read at all, but it was worth the journey.
Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the advance copy to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Wren Greenwood survived a horrible childhood trauma and has done her best to bury her past by creating a new life for herself. Her jobs keep her busy and she has Jax, her best friend who believes it’s time for Wren to get dating and sets her up on a dating app. Wren meets Adam through the popular dating site and falls hard for him. Just as she begins to reveal herself, Adam disappears and she thinks it was because of her, but then she finds out there have been other girls who have met the same man through the app and they have all disappeared. Wren wants to know more and begins working with an investigator who is looking into the disappearances. This is a really good dark, emotional thriller. I enjoyed going through this story with Wren as she is a great character.

This book certainly fit the times we are living in and I found it quite enjoyable. It helps that I am a fan of Lisa Hunger and would read the telephone book if she wrote it. Highly recommend to everyone

“Secrets, obsession and vengeance converge in this utterly original thriller about an online dating match turned deadly cat-and-mouse game
She met him through a dating app. An intriguing picture on a screen, a date at a downtown bar. What she thought might be just a quick hookup quickly became much more. She fell for him—hard. It happens sometimes, a powerful connection with a perfect stranger takes you by surprise. Could it be love?
But then, just as things were getting real, he stood her up. Then he disappeared—profiles deleted, phone disconnected. She was ghosted.”
Last Girl Ghosted by Lisa Unger:
A slow beginning and a main character that was hard to relate to. The premise is interesting and fairly dark, with emotional highs and lows. The story, which was complex, contained past traumas of loss, grief, mental illness, self-destructive tendencies, feelings of guilt, and murder.
Fans of Ms. Unger will be pleased, but if you’re looking for something light this isn’t the book for you.

Lisa Unger has pulled off yet again another delicious thriller. The story starts out in NYC where writer Wren goes on a blind date with a man, Adam, she met on a dating app. All goes swimmingly . . . or so it seems. Out of the blue, Adam ghosts her. But that is unfortunately not the last we see of him. When Wren is approached about a missing woman who Adam was also involved with, she begins to question everything about him and searches to find answers. Her quest brings her back to the Hollows where she must relive a terrible past that she has worked so hard to escape.

Unger is an excellent writer and this is evident throughout the entirety. It is a complex plot which weaves in characters from her other books, which I loved. Wren faces some very difficult issues, which Unger handles adeptly with heart and thoughtfulness. This left me satisfied and with a lot to ponder.

This book was my first of Unger's and the synopsis intrigued me, especially with the modern twist of danger on dating apps. It took several wild turns and ended up not being like I expected: the doomsday storyline mixed with the missing girls and family trauma made it a LOT for one book, but the author did a good job at tying all the storylines together.

"But in life, you have to save yourself. And there are still a million battles large and small ahead." Wren, Last Girl Ghosted
"Dear Birdie, I can't find my way to forgiveness. Because how can I forgive what he has done to others? He robbed me of my family. my childhood, my happiness." Wren, Last Girl Ghosted
Last Girl Ghosted by Lisa Unger is one of the best books I have read this year! Wow, creepy good suspense! There seems to be a predator using a dating app called Torch. The story is told by more than one narrator which kept me intrigued. After reading this book it should make women more careful about using dating apps!
Wren Greenwood has secrets in her past that she has worked hard to overcome. She has a successful career, a wonderful best friend, Jax, and she has made peace with a traumatic childhood. Life changes for Wren after Jax signs her up on a dating app called, Torch. Wren dates a mysterious attractive man, Adam. After they have dated a while and she trusts him, Wren tells him some of her darkest secrets. The next day he makes a date with her at a nice restaurant and then never shows up or answers texts or calls. She has been ghosted.
A few days later Wren receives a visit from a private investigator who has some disturbing news about Adam. He is suspicioned in the disappearance of three other women! This starts the beginning of a wild and deadly game of predator and prey.
During the story, Wren reveals the sad details of her childhood and horrific events which made her the strong and reclusive woman she has become. I enjoyed this story from beginning through the ending!

I wasn’t immediately drawn to this book. I’m a Lisa zinger fan but something about the premise seemed so flat. A woman ghosted on a dating site then decides to find him. With Lisa Unger I should’ve known there’d be more to the story. Much & wonderfully more.

So dark... so bleak...so disturbing!

Brrr! Blood freezing, soul shaking, nerve bending thriller will shake you to the core!

Ms. Unger knows how to go dark places and take you there if you’re bold enough not to escape and go with her till finding the light at the end of the tunnel.

This book has overwhelming complex story focusing on so many heavy stuffs, past traumas, loss, grief, guilt feelings, mental illness, PTSD, psychopathy, drug addiction, self destruction, pyromania, school shooting.

Reminding you Rosie Walsh’s Ghosted meets Kristin Hannah’s Great Alone storylines.

Main narrator of the story is Wren Greenwood who is successful column writer/ podcaster with her pseudonym “Dear Birdie”, still healing her wounds of her tragic past, involving into online dating world with her best friend Jax’s suggestion for quick hook up.

But as soon as she meets with Adam, a cool, smart, IT guy, something clicks with him. They get attached so fast and a few dates later Wren finally comes clean and tells him her dark secret she’s been hiding from everyone but the very next day he stands her up at the restaurant they planned to meet with a text telling something came up and he gotta disappear. He just vanished into thin air by disconnecting his phone, dating and social media accounts.

Gwen cannot absorb to be ghosted. As she tries to gather her wits to find some sense about his disappearance, detective Bailey Kirk knocks her door to talk about a missing young woman case. He thinks Wren could help him to identify the man: That woman is also user of Torch dating services just like her. Her name is Mia Thorpe who was recovering drug addict, suffering from psychological problems because of her childhood trauma: not being able to save her mother. And her father is really worried her daughter’s condition. She’s last seen with the man she met throughout Torch. The man she’s dated named Raife looks like exactly like Adam, her Adam who just left her without a clue!

And there are other girls who are missing who met with the same Adam under different false names and never being heard as soon as they started dating.

Bonnie Cartwright was from Chicago: survivor of school shooting as Melissa Farrow is from upstate New York town called Hollow, the very same place Wren spent her nightmarish childhood with her alcoholic, veteran father who is suffering from PTSD dragged the entire family to live at the place where is out of nowhere.

Melissa is also orphaned after fire killed both of her parents. Unfortunately she’s the reason of the fire.

Both of the women’s common traits: suffering from tragic traumas, being survivors, being loaded which attract internet predators’ attentions!

Wren has to find who the real Adam is and what happened to those girls because just she’s been doing for years at her Dear Birdie column she likes to heal the broken souls and now it’s time for her to heal her own invisible scars even that means she has to visit her own tragic past and their family house to confront the secrets she hides from everyone.

It was one of the great and the darkest work of the author with fantastic, deeply layered character driven story telling.

The conclusion was sad, heartbreaking and intense. A great and vulnerable approach to the unique traumatic experiences and a tribute to people who find a way to survive!

Special thanks to NetGalley and HARLEQUIN/ Park Row for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Unfortunately this wasn't a hit for me. I normally finish a book in 2-3 days and this just dragged so badly that it took me a whole week to finish it. I don't know if it was the narration or the timelines or what, but it was just a struggle.

Lisa Unger knows what you want. Terror, mystery, twists and turns are all on board with this thrilling thrill ride of a thriller. Grab a beverage, put on something comfy and prepare for intrigue.

This book was well-written and had an interesting premise, but I personally just didn’t click with the author’s writing style so I never ended up being able to get into the story. It wasn’t a bad book by any means, it just wasn’t for me. The writing style was reminiscent of the Caroline Kepnes ‘You’ series, so if you were a fan of the writing style in those books, I think you’ll enjoy this one too.

This book needs a seatbelt for how twisty it is! Great story that stays with you. Not at all what you think it is going to be about. So good!

I’ve read a few Lisa Unger books but this by far is my favorite! This cover drew me in and didn’t disappoint at all!!
Wren Greenwood has joined a digital dating site, she meets Adam and they start a “relationship” for about three months. For three months they see each other and become more involved. When Adam doesn’t show up for their special date Wren is devastated. Wren becomes determined to find out what happened to Adam only to find out there are other women in his life that have disappeared along with him.
Wren was the wrong person to ghost!
Last Girl Ghosted is dark and dangerous and I had the feeling I just didn’t know what was coming the entire time.

This is definitely a must read! Thanks to NetGalley and Park Row Books for my advanced ebook copy.

This is one of those books that definitely fits perfectly in the times, with its utilizing online dating to make a brilliant thriller! It grabbed me from the get go, didn’t let go until I finished! Fast paced, tense, unique, and unputdownable! Lots of fun twisty turns, thrilling thrills, chilling chills, tension, and gasp worthy shocks! A must read for those who are fans of Unger’s previous books, as she just gets better and better with each book, or just fans of thrillers! Highly recommend!

Will buzz around and use low Amazon reviewer number!
