Cold Consequences has a totally relatable plot, is very well-written, and is fast-paced. The characters are dense and the way the detectives work to reach the truth is interesting. A good police procedure story!

An interesting twist on a murder mystery where you know from the very beginning who committed the murder. Ashley Cummins is buying drugs from her dealer when the deal is interrupted by two thugs and she is murdered. Ashley, who became hooked on opioids after an injury, was the daughter of a wealthy family and the granddaughter of a retired judge. Detective Sasha Franks and his partner Detective Darcie Lyman are assigned the case and the pressure is on to find the murderer and close the case. They begin questioning drug dealers in the area and that is when things begin to fall apart. The dealers are being murdered before Sasha can get them to talk. As the dealers fall one by one, I had an idea who might be involved, but there was an intriguing twist at the very end. I really enjoyed this fascinating read as the dealers faced their “cold consequences”. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

⚖️ JULY REVIEW + BOOK TOUR ⚖️
[Cold Consequences || David Rohlfing]

Thank you to the author, publisher River Grove Press and NetGalley for this arc for an honest review. This book releases next Tuesday, July 27. I highly recommend all mystery lovers to check this one out!!

Cold Consequences is a prequel in the Detective Sasha Frank Mystery series by David Rohlfing. The 1st book is also out, Deliberate Duplicity.

My biggest complaint is the BLAH cover to this book, my complaints pretty much start and end there..I was hooked from the first page.

I love a mystery where we believe the detectives are investigating one thing, while meanwhile things are happening and brewing on a side timeline for a big final reveal.

I thought that I had everything figured out until the end when I was thrown for a final loop. I loved the detectives, and look forward to more in the series.

Not only were the protagonists enjoyable, the antagonists were realistic and the plot never came to a halt. The book kept moving nicely from start to finish.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5/5)

Cold Consequences by David Rohlfing
This is a Sasha Frank mystery. Detective Frank is the senior detective at the Bloomington Police Department, near Chicago. Ashley Cummins succumbed to the allure of street drugs when she was unable to get her pain killer prescriptions refilled. This led to her murder.
Sasha and his partner, Darcie, found themselves investigating a murder that continued to escalate throughout the book. The plot was intricate and plausible. The death of a child, regardless of age, can lead family down dark paths.
Rohlfing did a great job in keeping the action moving and the end result hidden until the very end.
I enjoyed the book.

We start right off with the murder of Ashley Cummins a young member of the most wealthy family in the area. Ashley had suffered pain from a soccer accident that ended her career. The doctors no longer prescribed pain medication for her and had suggested other alternatives which did not work for her. She turned to the streets for relief and that ended tragically.

Now detectives Frank and Lyman are working the case. They have an eye witness who described possible suspects in Ashley's murder and from there they work to question and identify who they might be.

Young Ashley was also the granddaughter of a highly respected judge now he wants answers.

As they work this case their leads quickly fade as more bodies pile up and questions remain unanswered. The twists and turns will take you on a wild ride.

The ending is action packed you don't want to miss it.

Great story very well written.
