I'm sorry but I could not even get into this book. This book takes the miscommunication trope to another level! 6 years without giving Daniel a real reason for their breakup is very immature especially since this breakup was between two adults.

No thanks.

Patel does it again. I loved her first one and this one was no different. This is a second-chance romance about Preeti having a hard time choosing between the guy she loves and her very traditional family.

A Romance with some heavier subject matter. Mental Health and family issues were front and center in this one.

My first read in this series and it was an interesting one.

Definitely recommend if you enjoy romantic dramas.

Just as cute as the first one, but if there is a limit to how much miscommunication can reasonably drive a plot, this found it by chapter 4.

First Love, Take Two is a second chance story about two very successful people who fell apart due to non communication, and familial obligation and expectations. After reading book one in this series I found myself really excited and interested in Preeti and Daniel's story. I'm not always a fan of second chance romance but I thought this one was done well. You could see how much both Preeti and Daniel really still loved each other so much and how much each of them hated that the relationship ended, and the reason the relationship ended felt very realistic. This book tackles racism and classism from both of the main characters family and friends, and I thought that it was handled well. One thing that I really appreciated as a Black reader was how Sajni Patel wrote Daniel; everything from the way she described his appearance to his demeanor. It wasn't a comment about his brown skin once and then nothing else, and he wasn't written in a stereotypical way. This book is full of so many tropes that I love including forced proximity, second chance and roommates to lovers. Just like the first book in this series there is an amazing friend group, and I am really hoping we get a third book in this world.

I could barely make it through the first 3 chapters. The writing and pacing felt off, and I couldn't sink into the story.

Overall I enjoyed this book. There were a few moment where I just wanted to shake some sense into Preeti but she figured it out in the end.

Ex's who have to live with each other in the same room?!?!? SIGN ME UP. However, this book sort of fell flat for me. I had some issues with the miscommunication trope of this story and just didn't really feel the chemistry as much as I wanted to between the characters.

Easy read. One bed trope. Miscommunication.

A super cute second chance romance that will have you swooning! I loved that this book talked about interracial dating and the care the author took in highlighting the importance of learning about one another culture and cultural values. I also think the author did a great job in the way she handled anxiety and normalizing medication.

I can’t wait to read more books in this series!

First Love, Take Two by Sajni Patel is a delightful sequel to The Trouble with Hating You. Patel has done an excellent job in weaving together a heartwarming story that captures the complexities of relationships and cultural norms.

The story follows Preeti Patel, who is on the cusp of achieving her dream of becoming a doctor. But her anxiety levels are high as she tries to balance her residency, finding a job, and dealing with her traditional family's expectations. When she moves into a new apartment, she's surprised to find that her ex-boyfriend and first love, Daniel, is her new roommate. Despite their families' disapproval, the chemistry between Preeti and Daniel is undeniable.

Patel's writing is engaging and vivid, and she creates realistic characters with depth and complexity. Preeti is a relatable protagonist who struggles with the balance between pursuing her own dreams and meeting her family's expectations. Daniel is charming and lovable, and their interactions are filled with tension and chemistry.

The cover of the book is stunning, with bright and vibrant colors that capture the book's essence. The story is well-paced, with just the right amount of drama and tension to keep the reader engaged.

Overall, First Love, Take Two is a beautiful and heartwarming story that is sure to capture readers' hearts. I absolutely loved this book, and I can't wait to read more of Sajni Patel's work. If you enjoyed The Trouble with Hating You, then you definitely don't want to miss this sequel. I give this book five stars and recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance novel with relatable characters and realistic situations.

If you want a second chance romance, that is not only entertaining, but also deals with issues, such as race and cultural customs. This is the book for you. From the beginning, you can send that the heroin heroin have never gotten over each other. But not only do they need to work through their past, but they also have to deal with, dealing with their families views of them as a couple. It’s a heartfelt and wonderfully written book.

Cute and sexy, and very easy read. I was excited to read another book by this author and they've kept the same style and tone as from the other book I've read. It's fun and sparky which is exactly what I wanted to read.

There were certain aspects of this book that I really enjoyed but others I really did not. It took me quite a while to even like the main characters. I grew to appreciate the characters near the end but found them rather insufferable initially. Though I do understand the major stigma behind interracial marriages especially in Indian households, yet this plot line felt overdone. Additionally, for me personally, six years of separation is far too long. People grow and change so much within that time that the reconnection felt a bit idealistic. While I understand miscommunication, Preeti and Daniel were honestly unable to communicate period. This book was a bit of a let down but I am very excited to read any other books Sajni Patel writes.

I really liked this second chance romance! I don’t normally love this trope, but I found that it was done really well in this book. I generally liked the way Preeti and Daniel’s relationship developed. They both had issues they had to get past in order to make it work and I was glad that Patel didn’t just gloss over them through the book. Not only did Preeti and Daniel had some tough conversations, but these carried over to their families and communities as well.

I’m always interested in reading about the Indian-American community. There is such diversity within the community itself that I’m always looking for more stories and perspectives. While I’m not too familiar with the temple community and can’t relate to many aspects of that particular community, I do think it was so interesting and refreshing to read about. I think Patel handles the internal biases some still inhabit in the Indian American community through the lens of these characters really well.

Overall, I really enjoyed this second chance romance! I love reading South Asian stories and this one was great! I’d definitely recommend this romcom for a quick read!

A beautiful second chance and interracial love story. Full of tropes, this book was everything I needed. Binged it in one setting. A great story that I highly recommend. Deals with tough topics like mental health and racism as well.

4.5 rounded up!! I really really enjoyed this one. The characters were so relatable and I’m a sucker for a second chance romance! It showed the growing of family and love. This is definitely a must read!!

There are so many layers to this book. First of all, it's a lovely romance -- it's a second-chance story, it's got the roommates trope (love!) and Daniel, the male lead character, is massively likable.

But it's more than just a romance -- it's a story about family, about loving your partner where they're at, about mental health and about being yourself. I didn't read the first book in this series before grabbing this one, but I'll definitely go back and read it now!
