She Works His Way is a great book to put your focus back on Jesus, where it’s supposed to be. We are created for Him and His glory not our own. Summer and Michelle share their lives and their hearts with the reader practical ways to learn more about our purpose and live that out, whether our job is in ministry or in the secular world. We can live out His plan in any place as long as we are open to His leading. I enjoyed this book because it convicted me but also gave me hope that all is not lost as long as I am seeking to do His will.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.

Normally I find business books geared toward Christian women lacking because they focus on being a "boss babe" or increasing your "hustle." That was not the case with She Works His Way. Somer Phoebus and Michelle Myers have written a book that I think everyone could benefit from. With a look at how the world tells us to live and comparing it to what scripture says, Phoebus and Myers point the reader back to the gospel in every page.

I appreciated the work put in to make sure everything was backed by scripture and true to the original text. The prayers at the end of each chapter held so many footnotes to point us back to scripture. I've come out of reading this book with a new perspective in many areas!

I love the idea that the book is complex, for any woman, at any age, any background…it is hard to find this kind of books. The message is direct and gospel centered. The book offers plenty “how to”and resource! A great book for introspection and self inspection.

Absolutely one of my favorite books I've read this year. WOW. Somer and Michelle have knocked it out of the park. This book is packed with Biblical truth about who we are and what we are called today. It cuts through all of today's cultural noise and gets to the heart of the matter. This was such a refreshing and helpful book for me. It will be one i pick up again and again in seasons of need and refreshment. I want to buy it for everyone Christian woman I know!

As a stay-at-home mom, I didn't think this book was for me but I read it anyway. I'd say that any woman could learn something from this book. The back and forth between author writing wasn't my favorite but I know others that loved it.

This is a must-have resource to help one live a more full and happy life. It is full of great strategies, advice, and easy to implement ideas. This is one I'll return to again and again. Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

Y'all I needed this book!

I cannot tell you how many times I have quoted this " Better life balance is not the solution. Order is. We are divinely designed to put God first" to about 20 people! As a pastors wife that is also in the work field, I felt very seen and cared for in this book. I was challenged and brought back to truth. I cannot recommend this enough!!!

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley

She Works HIS Way: A Practical Guide for doing what Matters in a Get-Things-Done World by Michelle Myers and Somer Phoebus

This book is just so good!

It's written for working women, but don't let that deter you if you are a stay at home mom, caretaker, etc. This book takes the world's view and expectations of work and compares them to what the Lord has to say about work.

It's not just about productivity and getting things done. You won't find a list of how to get more done in 24 hours or 5 things to make you more successful at work.

What you'll learn is that relationships are more important than achievements, serving and leading can go hand in hand when we lead BY serving, freedom from the Pressure of success comes through obedience.

Somer and Michelle tell their stories in alternating chapters on how they learned to work for the glory of God rather than for success, fame, money or approval.

I learned so much that I can apply to my own job as a stay at home mom. This book may be written for women in the workforce or thos in minisrty, but all women work and all women would benefit from this book.

At the end of each chapter there is a prayer for each topic. At the end of the book there are a few pages for you to write notes or journal thoughts.

In the conclusion section, they write a few paragraphs to specific people (overthinkers, perfectionists, workaholics, and the discontented). If I had to pick a favorite section, I think this may be in the running.

I enjoyed this book in its entirety. I cannot choose a favorite chapter or topic. I hope anyone who reads this learns as much as I did!

I enjoyed this book because of it's writing style, unique topic, and the fact that it really provided a thought-provoking experience. Recommended for readers who want to read slowly so as to take time to process.

Excellent book on putting our focus on what matters, in Christ. There were a lot of "Culture says/Christ says" sayings that help us to reshape and/or refocus our attention on where it should be, along with practical applications and stories on how this looks in a real world situation. I think that my favorite chapter was chapter ten, where it talks about being "spiritual sisters instead of spiritual superiors" only because it speaks to my own heart of how I am interacting with my "sisters" and how easily I can fall into the "superior" section. Another favorite part of this book is the prayers after every chapter. Man oh man, talk about getting real, raw, and honest. I LOVED these! Excellent excellent job. I've followed their site for a while as well as reading their devotionals on YouVersion, and couldn't wait to read their book. Highly recommend it.

I enjoyed this book! The content was well put together and the personal experience added an additional layer of wisdom with each topic. I do feel this book was pretty surface at times and wanted more in depth knowledge into a few topics but overall I would recommend this one! Truly an interesting group of women bringing light to a much needed subject of working women!

Right out the gate Michelle and Somer push to the side societies lies. Lies that we need to be constantly striving, which typically lead us women to burnout and discouragement.

Michelle and Somer shared their personal experiences, one needing to prove herself while the other having a workaholic mentality. While their stories differed, they both offered a gospel centered approach to womanhood. She Works His Way offers biblical wisdom on how we can experience true freedom by putting God first in our lives.

A must- read book for the working woman, you will walk away feeling convicted and encouraged at the same time.

Initially I didn’t think I was the target audience for this book. While I have a job, it’s such a small part of my life (and I’m most definitely not a #girlboss or content creator). I’m so glad I didn’t let that stop me from reading! Michelle and Somer start by introducing their SWHS filter, a series of questions that shine a light on their motivations and the impact of how they spend their time. I am inspired to use what I’ve read in this book in the way I parent, when I go to work, at my church, and in the things I create or consume. I appreciated the perspectives of both authors, and even more that the chapters flowed seamlessly between the two — it didn’t feel choppy or separate as some books by multiple authors do.

The back-and-forth between writing styles / authors was difficult to follow and often felt choppy. There were a few good nuggets and one-liners within the book, but it isn't one I'd ever pick up again.

In this amazing thought provoking read. Michelle and Somers stir you towards living a life of glory to the lord and not you. I loved every page of this book and safe to say I'll be following them on social media to be reminded to live for christ and not me

She Works His Way is the book that exhausted working women need. If you are a Christian woman and feel pulled in a million directions you might find the strength to let go.
I don't have the typical 9-5 job but I help my husband run our business. Running your own business can become the whole focal point of your life, She Works His Way tries to bring the focus back to God.
I read a lot of books and anything in this genre is usually a quick speed read- I didn’t speed read this. The book is full of Bible verses and it is really meant as a life assessment book and half Bible study. The book even references the lesser-known story of Barabas and how he never sought the spotlight but was willing to mentor people who eventually outshone him. Having your Bible handy might be handy, but the authors explain the Biblical references well. The author also talked about speaking at a conference and saying “If God calls you to be a rung on the ladder that your competition climbs, then be sturdy, be strong and help her up. She is not your competition. She's not your enemy, She’s either your sister in Christ or a woman in need of a Saviour”. Collaboration over the competition in action. The authors speak about times they chose family and faith over career and the reactions and pushback they received. The book also has prayers at the beginning of most chapters and pages of quotes in the back.
Some notable quotes are
“Be willing to lead, but love God far more than you love leadership.”

“It is impossible to love and serve people well if we neglect to hear them.”

“Christ is your foundation, and when surrendered to Him, your strength and weaknesses both bring Him glory.”

I would not recommend this book to someone who is trying to “climb the ladder” at all costs- but it is a great book for a Gospel-based approach to work. This book would be an excellent book to give women fresh out of college entering the workforce, or a CEO, or everyone in between.

I have been following along Michelle Myers via my personal fitness journey and have really enjoyed her encouragement on social media so I was excited when I saw this book as an option to request on Netgalley!

In true Michelle fashion she spares us of the fluff and goes straight to the heart, discussing what society tells us vs. what God tells us and how we can stop buying into all of the lies the world offers and to be mature women in Christ. This book is practical and full of Biblical truth.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is going to be one of my top recommendations for business books now and it isn’t (really) focused on business!!!

I’ve followed SWHW on Instagram for a while now. I don’t remember how I found them, but they consistently encourage and challenge me. Their posts are uplifting and convicting. This book is no different.

Each chapter takes a look at an aspect of business (and life) and what the world says about it versus what God says about it. They share personal examples (they are quite raw and honest with us) and clearly and simply lay out what it looks like to work and live HIS way.

I keep saying work and life because what they share is not limited to work and probably starts at home anyway.

I love how steeped in Scripture this book is and the amazing prayers at the end of each chapter. I highlighted the heck out of my ecopy and now have to go write it all down.

Inspiring book for all working women who aspire to honor God in their work! I especially appreciated the thoroughly Scriptural approach. My favorite sections were the parts that specifically mentioned Christian working mamas.

Michelle + Somer have always brought Biblical truth in loving exhortation, and this book is no different. In fact, it is a book that breathes the life of truth straight into your heart and soul. It challenged me, but in such a good way. I don't desire to live my life how the world tells me I should, but when you are a busy wife and mom with a million balls in the air, it is easy to auto-pilot right into worldly responses and priorities. This book gives us a check-in, and encouragement to reframe and come back to the center - reassess and respond with Jesus as our center. I'm so thankful to have this book to keep close, because this is a worthy battle to be fought everyday, in every decision we make.
