I've read Willow Rose's work before and this book lives up to the usual standard. Would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

A fast paced story of the unfortunate sexual harassment, even rape, that happens to women trying to make it in the work world. Eva Rae, ex FBI profiler is asked to help with a case. A woman, Kimmie, will only speak with Eva, but when Eva finds out who it is - the woman who had an affair with Eva’s husband ending their marriage - she refuses to help. Her daughter pleads with her to help as Kimmie’s son is her daughter friend so she finally agrees to hear her out. Then leaves, she did her part. and wanting to be away from the whole thing she goes back to her children. Then someone tries to kill Kimmie and her son and Eva finds she has to step in and try and keep Kimmie alive as the hired killers will stop at nothing to silence Kimmie. A race to keep them alive until trial for murder the CEO is facing when a 20 year old girl plunged to her death from his rooftop. Barely keeping ahead of the killers and wondering just how they keep finding them Eva Rae knows there has to be a FBI leak. Excellent writing I recommend this book. Get the word out so others know it ok to talk. I was sad to hear that the author went through a similar situation and glad she is such a strong person to speak out and help make the changes that are necessary. I was given this book for my honest opinion, I think everyone should read this story and keep their eyes open and speak up when necessary.

I have not read any of the previous books in the Eva Rae Thomas series, but this one reads well as a standalone book.

It's a fast paced thriller that has been heavily inspired by the metoo-movement and the Weinstein affair. It's well done, and I think the author does a good job portraying the women involved. I also highly recommend reading the postscript of the book where WR talks about why she wrote this book.

As a small but interesting aside, I believe this is the first fiction book I have read that actually mentions covid and the related lockdowns. It's only a small detail in the book, but I imagine that we'll see more references to the pandemic in future literature.

Note: I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review.

Number nine in the Eva Rae Thomas series from Willow Rose. These are great murder mystery books that i usually read in a day. This time ex FBI profiler Eva Rae is asked back to interview a witness, a girl has fallen to her death from the penthouse balcony of an apartment block in Washington D. C. and the witness will only speak to Eva Rae. Nothing is as it seems and the plot is full of unexpected twists and turns. I have to admit after reading all nine novels Eva Rae is beginning to annoy me, her character is constantly making bad personal decisions but that hasn’t stopped me enjoying the books!

4.5 Stars

This is the ninth book in the Eva Rae Thomas mystery series by Willow Rose.

The books by Willow Rose are always very complex. And this book is no different. This story is inspired by Willow Rose’s own life experience and that makes the story all the more compelling and real.

Eva Rae is called in to help with a cases of a gal who was pushed off the balcony of a news director’s room and falls to her death. She is brought there under suspicious circumstances and when she discovers that she is there to interview her ex-husband’s wife, the one he left her for, she high tails it back to her hometown. Kimmie was in the room when the girl was pushed off the balcony and Eva Rae is the only person she will talk to.

There is always a parallel story running alongside the main story and I try and figure out how it applies to the now timeline and am always surprised by what Willow Rose manages to pull out of her hat and shock us every time.

This secondary story features a news reporter who is just an intern trying to make her big break into journalism. However, there is a member of the management team who has his eye on this intern and forces her into a sick relationship of secret meetings in the bathroom and invitations to parties where suspiciously no one else shows up for. This management team member is the same news director whom Eva Rae is investigating in the current timeline.

This book has a lot of threads and things going on that could lead you down a multitude of rabbit holes. But that is what Willow Rose does so well. Her plotting is excellent.

Such a good story and a great storyteller. Very impressed with this author’s work. I have enjoyed each story she has purposefully crafted to perfection.

If you love a mystery, definitely check this one out. Great new must read book great series too! I had to hurry up and read books seven and eight since I hadn't gotten to those two books yet. This is a series that I definitely have to read in order to understand what is going on from book to book.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title. Opinions are completely my own.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first time reading a book by this author. The book follows ex-FBI profiler Eva Rae Thomas. She is called by her friend in the FBI to interview a client that is the only witness to the murder of 20 year old Samantha by Media Mogul Richard Wanton that refuses to speak to anyone but her. Once she gets there is finds out it is Kimmie who slept with Eva Rae's ex husband while they were still married and broke up the family. She refuses at first to help but changes her mind after her teenager daughter shames her into helping due to the daughter being friends with Kimmie's son. This is really fast paced read and keeps you on hook from the beginning to end. I never guessed the ending and was completely surprised.

I received this ARC for my honest review from Netgalley.

Winner winner with political intrigue as the gripper? It sure catches your attention and keeps you reading. Fast-paced you won’t want to put it down.

I enjoyed this book very much. It is a good mystery with a surprise twist at the end. The main character was snarky and jaded enough to be believable, but not so much as to make her unlikable.

This story had me in it's grip from the first page to the last. To know that something like this happened to the author made it more real. For a man to prey on women like one of the characters did, makes him a disgusting excuse for a human. Even though Eva Rae didn't want the job protecting a witness, she changed her mind and took the job. I recommend this book for every woman to read and men who sympathize what some women go through for their careers.

I have not had an opportunity to read one of Willow Rose books, until this one. Why haven't I read one??? If the other books are half as good as this one, I have missed out, on quite a bit in the literary world. This is a fast paced movie that will hook you in the first couple pages. I truly thought I had it figured out. I was so wrong. Great story, which also seems there maybe some truth to it. It will make you rethink your decisions on trusting people who you meet in life and work with. Great book, I am ordering the rest of these. I can not wait for her to release more.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and these are my own opinions.

I was so thrilled to read the next book in Eva Rae Thomas series.....this was a book with a bit more serious content. I breezed through it quickly and after reading the Author Willow Roses comments at the end, the story took on even more meaning.....how brave to write about her experiences in this newest novel....the story still had its quirky moments and Eva Rae saves the day. This time though she comes to terms with her past and confronting the one person she has no love for.....the woman she blames for breaking up her marriage.
I hope there will be a book 10 in the series, I want to know what happens next in Eva Raes personal life and if she ever finds a way to balance family and work.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book!

I actually had not heard of this author before, so her writing style was completely new to me. I enjoyed the suspense, and the way Willow Rose surprised us at every corner. Just when you don't expect something, it happens and throws you off from whatever you were previously thinking. The book is fast-paced and keeps you on edge the entire time.

As someone who has not read any of the other books in this series, I wasn't confused and could easily follow along (in case anyone was concerned about that). So, I'd absolutely recommend this book for anyone.

Eva is asked to come to D.C. by a friend at the FBI. When she arrives Eva is shown why she was asked to come to D.C. and in the next room is the woman who ruined her life. Asking for her help. I like Eva Rae, a badass mom. This book had me gripped to my seat from the prologue. This book is full of action, twists and turned. I had missed reading some of the books between book 1 and this book. I'll be going back to read them all. Willow Rose has become one of my new favorite authors.

The book was a fast paced thriller. Especially in the times of #MeToo this book is highly relevant. It’s also very disturbing to think that all these power games still happen in every sector of job life, not only for women but even for men.
With regards to the book, very easy to read language, instantly you will connect with the characters and you will root for the women to win who were victim of workplace abuse.

This is a good read. I loved how the chapters were short. I never got bored and found myself wanting to read one more chapter. Lots of cliffhangers and twists and turns that keeps the reader not only interested in the story but guessing until the very end. A quick solid book perfect for the summer!!

This is the first book I started to read in this series, and I was shocked to see such bad storytelling from an experienced author. Jumping around in time is normally not a good idea, but changing POV between first and third person is a definite no-no. If the main character can't tell the whole story, use third person!!When the ridiculous behavior of the main character started, I couldn't read any more.

Interesting and original plot. Plenty of twists and turns to keep it exciting and an ending that came as a surprise. I really like this author and this book did not disappoint. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

The most unexpected part of this book was how much it kept me hooked. How much it reached out to me. How much I loved it. There was also another unexpected thing at the end which I am going to talk about later.

Trigger warning: Sexual assaults

The Plot:
Surprises! Surprises at every corner!
This review is already starting to be vain with my talking’s of it unexpected tints. But tough times call for tough measure.
The book starts with two police officers witnessing the death of a young woman along with the possible ‘murderer’. Except there is no evidence against him. Later in the novel, we have a possible witness for the dead woman- Samantha with alleged proof, few betrayals, trust, confusion, sexual assaults (this is a huge part of the story line which was really hard to rea. I felt like crying.), unity, feminism, women helping each other (I loved that part), more confusion and finally the ending. The ending was just so beautiful and I do hope he got what he deserved. It was so unexpected, so lovely, so thrilling and probably my favorite part of the whole book. Standing up for yourself is hard and seeing so many women doing it, broke my heart. In a good way.

The Writing:
I enjoyed every line of the book. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. The writing felt personal which touched my heart. One of the few books that kept me hooked from the very first line.

Characters:
Eva Rae Thomas:-
This is the only character we get from first person’s point of view which I adored every letter of. Undoubtedly, this is one of my favorite characters in this book. She is brave, fearless and a daring character. She helps in solving the mystery we are hit with in the book and Man! Is she a detective. Her logics are just classic. She should be given an award for it.

Kimmie:-
She is honestly so strong. What she had to withstand- alone is something that no women, no person should ever experience. Hands down she is a great character. A wonderful woman. And a caring mother.

Richard Wanton:-
The most disgusting -should be executed- piece of waste I have ever seen. He made me so sick and the thought that many had to go through the same experience as the women he tortured makes me sicker. He is a vile creature who ruined the lives of many women and death is a mere mercy for him!

Rachel:-
Rachel is first introduced when she starts having a panic attack. Yup! A great way to introduce a character but the action that triggers this reaction is what hurt me the most. She is a victim too! Her action at the end of the book is strong and the right thing to do. I loved her character development.

Crystal:-
IN THIS WORLD, WOMEN STAND UP FOR OTHER WOMEN! NOT TRY TO BRING THEM DOWN! NOT SILENCE THEM! NOT ERADICATE THEIR RIGHTS! And Miss Crystal right here is a worst example for a woman.

Carol:-
She has my respect. Her actions are just so magnificent. In the beginning I thought she was just a woman who was ‘mildly concerned’ that her husband was having an affair. Boy was I wrong! She is an extraordinary person to have born on this earth.

My thoughts:-
Concluding, this definitely is one of the best mystery/thriller novels I have ever read. This a must-read book. No doubt there.

I’m sorry, but this was just bad. The author either needs an editor, or needs to hire a better editor, because the writing in this book... yikes.
