The only human in a pack of werewolves, Kira has been treated like a servant since she was found as a child. One the eve of her generations first transformation, Kira has decided that she can't keep taking the abuse, it's time to stand up for herself. With this realization, comes a startling transformation as Kira discovers that she is in fact a werewolf and that the goddess has a plan for her to lead the wolves in the coming battle. This mission of course is complicated by not one, but three fated mates - her former best friend, her current best friend and a man who's been a bystander for her entire life.

This mythology of the story was very interesting and Kira's relationship with her new mates is combustible. As promised, it ended in quite a cliffhanger, so I look forward to the next book.

This was so freaking awesome. Loved the shifters. This was so completely different than anything that I have ever read before that I really liked it. Our main character is such a bad ass and loved following her around with her adventures. I so can not wait for the next one in the series...

This book was ok. It’s the first of a series. The world building and paranormal aspect was good but the plot was different (ie odd).

A lovely first peak in a new paranormal world. This books had strong lead charcters who promise a lot from the begining. The plot is new and original and keeps you wanting for more.

This book wasn't for me. I found it difficult to stay focused on the plot. I appreciate the opportunity to review this novel. Thank you.

Outcast
A Rejected Mate Shifter Romance
by R.L. Caulder

Released 3/2021. I received a copy of this ebook that from NetGalley and White Rabbit Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

This is a rejected/fated mate reverse harem wolf shifter steamy romance with a cliff hanger ending. MMMF

This was a fun short read. The pacing was great, excellent world building with the familiar basic construct of wolf shifters expanded upon with the nature of their religious and cultural belief system and their social structure.

Our heroine relates to her three mates in unique and interesting ways. This is a story of a down trodden under dog with an opportunity to overcome her challenges.

This is one hot page turner. Can’t wait to see what happens next. 5/5

1 or 1.5 stars

The first chapter is all about how Kira has been bullied by the whole pack and only Milo is kind to her, and then comes chapter 2 where Seth, her #1 bully’s best friend, who’s been a passive witness to the bullying for 16 years now suddenly started to flirt with her, asking her if she was thinking about his cock in her while she was touching herself in the shower and feeling possessive of her (while we’re talking about it, why on Earth would you just decide to masturbate yourself in the shower when your bully's best friend is right there waiting for you to come out? Couldn’t it wait? Were you that desperate?!?!). Where the fluff did that come from?! He just suddenly appears to have a crush on her and is not so bad after all?! And he’s SO HOT that she can’t control herself anymore?!

There is also fact that Kira is presented as a quiet and reserved woman, trying to be forgotten and not to attract attention to herself, but that she suddenly decides to talk back and be sassy one day just because she feels like it seems way too convenient. As if the author wanted to show us a poor bullied girl to get us to feel bad for her, but then everything falls into place for her to get all the pretty boys around her because she decided to stand up for herself at the same time that Seth mysteriously (and weirdly) started to show interest.

The whole insta-lust vibe just fell off, and I did not really like it. It made me roll my eyes and want to slap Kira in the face. Here is a recap of Kira’s mental state in the first chapters of this book: “Oh they were mean to me for the last 16 years but they’re so hot they give me tingles everywhere. I hate them, but I get wet as soon as they give me a little attention or touch me”. 🙄 Get a grip girl!

I do love well-done RH and mate romances, but I struggled with this one. Out of Kira’s three mates, only one (Milo) was nice and kind to her. The second (Seth) watched her being bullied and never tried to stop it, and only started treating her with something akin to respect once she became his mate. The third (Jameson) is Kira’s #1 bully and a COMPLETE jerk with no redeemable qualities. The characters are all pretty shallow and there is no real connection or chemistry, besides the fact that Kira finds them oh-so-sexy and can’t resist grinding on them, and they can’t stop touching her either. I get the whole mate/supernatural attraction, but the fact that she just seemed to forgive Seth and even Jameson because they were tortured souls and she couldn’t live without them now made this whole RH more frustrating than exciting.

Besides that, the writing is quite simplistic, it’s all telling and no showing and it feels juvenile even though the characters are supposed to be 21 years old. It was full of petty jealousy, horny teenagers, and a mission to save the world just so it feels more serious because there’s not much story besides the whole mate drama. Then there are the dialogues, which are just bland and cringy. Even the main character’s inner monologues were awkward and it felt immature.

I don’t know, maybe I’m just being picky but I just didn’t enjoy the dialogues in the book. There is also an info dump at about 25% of the book, which did not help me get into the book after the whole weird and frustrating beginning.

I devoured this book. It was emotional and hard to put down. The author spins a tale around shifters that has a new spin.

Kira is a human who has been treated as lessor for years. She suddenly find out. Not only is she more than human she has more than one mate. Add in that she is responsible for saving shifters as a whole.

The characters are completely riveting and pull you in. They go through a lot and not all of them are going to be whole in the end.

OUTCAST is the first book in The Pack Prophecy series and WOW! There you go, review done. No? Oh, okay, let me give you a bit more.

Kira was abandoned by her parents when she was very young and found by a wolf pack. She was loved and cared for by the Alpha's mate, accepted into their family... until tragedy struck. The mother was killed, her best friend hated her, the Alpha blamed her, she became the lowest of the low. Now it is the day that the new generation will transform. Secrets and surprises will rule the day, and Kira is right in the middle!

It turns out there is more to Kira than meets the eye, and the Alpha knew about it all along. Kira is a wolf shifter herself, now known The Prophetess, who needs to save wolfkind. Also, she now has multiple mates instead of one. Two of them accept her, but the Alpha's son, her best friend from childhood, rejects her. This may be a mating but Milo, Seth, and Jameson are HER consorts. At the end of the day, they will do anything for HER. What she says, goes. And that includes working through things that they don't necessarily like.

This is a tale of twisted greed, of weak becoming strong, of political and evil machinations, of hope and love. And I loved every word. I finished this book and immediately bought the second, with the third going into my calendar for release day.

A brilliant book that hooked me in. Roll on November for the third book! Absolutely recommended by me.

Not my jam.
TOO much emphasis on physical attraction, and a weird(?) plot...

Kira is an orphan human in a pack of werewolves. After a tragedy struck and killed the Luna of the pack, Kira is blamed for her death and Is treated horribly.
Then on the night when all the werewolves her age change for the first time, Kira finds her three fated mates, and even more surprising that she is part of an ancient prophecy.
But what will she do when one of her fated mates rejects their bond?

So... the book basically opens on the day of the coming of age ceremony, and it felt like we were "dropped" there out of the blue with no context. then we get to know Kira's first mate who is her best friend, and they are super attracted to each other. And it felt just.... weird and over the top.
Then we meet her second mate, who didn't bully her but also didn't stand up for her. BUT suddenly they are both SUPER attracted to each other, and apparently, their connection is just so special!. Then of course there is the third mate - the bully...

moving forward to the ceremony, when Kire finds out she is meant to save the world and is part of a prophecy. And the whole way she found out and reacted to the news was just wired, and I felt disconnected, and bored with this book.

And here is the thing... I believe that if the author had chosen one of the guys to be Kira's mate then the relationship would've been more developed, and less based on physical attraction...

Overall this book's take on fated mate, and the overall plot, just didn't work for me...

Well, this book started with a bang. But not like The Big Bang that led to life and animals and all that good stuff. More like nuclear fall out bang.

I've read this book a thousand times over. Is it just me, but are they getting worse? Girl, prophecy, big plans, falls in love, forgets plans, happy ending! To give this book some credit- the whole prophecy thing was a little more interesting than usual . It would have been even better if the plot actually involved the characters doing anything about it instead of falling for each other.

I didn't like any of the characters. We are meant to be believe that the MC was timid and didn't stand up for herself for more than 10 years, but the MOMENT this book starts she grows a backbone?! And it is a pretty wonky spine at that. If you are going to be snarky (read: awful to everyone) you have to back that up with some sort of tactics to kill demons.
Also- and I may have just missed this in my skimming- why didn't Kira just go and find humans? She was an adult at the start of this book. And yeah, she might not have qualifications like, ummmm... nursery graduate, but she could still get a job! And I bet whatever it was would be better than demon blood clean up crew!!!

For most people this would be a 1 star review, but personally I believe you deserve 2 stars minimum for putting pen to paper (more likely fingers to keyboard, but you get the point) and finishing a book. And the writing style was acceptable and didn't seem to have too many spelling and grammar errors that hurt my soul. Wouldn't continue the series, though.

Very quick-paced read. Definitely goes right into the action, which kind of made me not like it? I don't know how to describe it; I thought it had a lot of potential from the beginning, but there was just too much action that made it kind of a turn off. I finished it, and the cliffhanger made me wonder what happens next HOWEVER it just fell flat from my expectations. Some characters were very annoying and made me want to go into the book and slap them. It was very hot and cold throughout; I loved some parts but absolutely hated others. I will say I enjoyed how Kira grew as a character and her attitude changed from the very beginning.

Will I read the second one? Possibly, it truly just depends on my mood (as I said before it was very hot and cold/hit or miss with this book; the writing itself was fine. I had no problems, and I thought it told the story well, but the characters just make me lose my temper)

2.5 stars~~

I went into this book blind except for the synopsis and really enjoyed it! The beginning felt rushed to get to the action rather than taking the time to set up the world, storyline, and the tension but I got the second book immediately after finishing because I was invested! I need the third book now!! Great quick, steamy, #romantasy would definitely recommend it to friends!

An orphaned human taken in by a pack of wolves. The fate of their existence in my hands.
I’ve been treated as the dirt beneath the pack’s paws for years.
Will they be able to accept my new role when my powers surface? Will I be able to forgive them enough to help them?
The bright spot amongst all the turmoil...finding my three fated. Until one of them rejects our bond.
The one thing I know for sure...death is coming for us all, soon, and the person responsible for it? Their betrayal is going to alter the shifter world forever.
I’ll conquer my powers, protect the packs, and live happily ever after with my men, right?
Wrong.
No one is prepared for the vile truths of my visions to come to light.

Review: Reading the summary for the second time I realized it sounds a lot like a book I tried to read recently but they only had it out by the chapter. I was addicted to reading that book but I never got to finish it. So I really look forward to being able to read this one. I know the book warned me it was going to end in a cliffhanger but I still hated that I was surprised it did. I loved every single second of this book and can't wait to read Outlaw. I absolutely suggest checking out this series.

Interesting series. Kira has spent her life being mistreated by the pack who raised her. Blamed for the death of the Alpha's mate, she is despised by him and his son. Unfortunately, fate has plans for her because she finds out that has not one mate but three. One of them is the Alpha's son who then rejects her.

You really feel bad for all that Kira is going through. It is also hard to sympathize with Jameson because he keeps pulling Kira to him and then pushing her away. He is in for a hard fall.

The book has a lot of mystery in it as it says it ends in a cliffhanger.

I am mostly used to read these kinds of books in whatpad or other apps for publishing books. Might be a stigma about rejected mates.

However I found it quite good and an easy read!
