My Review: I am all about the animals and often so are young readers, so this seemed like a really fun book to try out (and it is the first in a zoo series). This reads like a beginning reader book almost but the story itself needs a bit more of a young middle grade audience to grasp. It would be a nice bridge book to chapter books but for those looking for an easier story to read but a bit of a higher thought level. I love the way that the kids had to figure out the mystery but just observing the monkeys, it took time and patience to figure out the problem and come up with a solution. It also included some nice trial and error as well to show not every answer is an easy one. It was fun and thought invoking. This is a series that young animal enthusiasts will really be wanting to pick up and read.

My Rating: This is definitely a book I would have wanted to read as a kid, the mystery, the animals, the success of solving the problem, all things a young reader will enjoy. I give it a rating of Four Paws!

Gosh, what a wonderful little story I got to share with my budding book reviewer. I have a kindergartener who is an avid reader. This was the perfect beginning chapter book to get to read together. Just the right amount of pictures to words ratio so it was a little more challenging but also kept her attention at the same time.

The story was SO cute. I loved how they utilized their observation skills! It was such a great talking point to have with my daughter. Plus anything centered around a zoo is a winner for both of us.

I would also recommend this as the perfect read aloud. If you have a little one who isn't quite reading yet but is interested in monkeys, zoos, or just wants to read with you this is a perfect one to pick up!

Thank you so much #JollyFishPress and #netgalley for letting me share this special reading moment with my daughter!

This is a nice, short early chapter book. Kids enjoy mysteries, especially ones that aren’t too scary, and this is a great book to meet their needs. Animals are also a big draw for kids and this book both meets animal interests as well as teaching about both volunteers and zoo jobs. Enrichment is also mentioned in a really simple and understandable way. I would definitely recommend this book to my primary students looking to read their first chapter books!

Thank you so much to Jolly Fish Press and Netgalley for the earc to read and review.

I love this new series it’s great, I loved that it had great lessons and lots to learn, a fun simple mystery and interesting diverse characters.

I loved that the first assignment these kids had was simply to watch the monkeys and figure out what was wrong with them. It was great that together Katy and Micah had to observe and learn to be able to figure it out and make things better for the monkeys.

I really loved the illustrations with this as well, I loved seeing the sweet monkeys. This is a fun series and I know lots of animal loving young readers will really enjoy this one. I look forward to reading more in this series in the future.

I really love this book. The story of Katy Nichols and Micah Draper who begin their journey as a Junior Researcher at the Mountain Bluff Zoo. They have to sit and observe for all the animals.

Their first task was to watch Charlie the capuchin monkey behavior because he seems to put on weight although his diet hasn't change.

What a task!

Since capuchin monkey is the smartest monkey species, they have to seek a solution for making their environment more interesting and challenging.

The idea of a fire hose and monkey maze were brilliant!
