This was an excellent cookbook, my children loved it so much we purchased the actual book. I think we have made 60% of the recipes :)

Really fun children's cookbook. Definitely buy as a gift for children and families.

Encouraging children to cook and to understand nutrition is really key and this book is a brilliant way to get them started.

A cookbook for kids! What a nice idea. This book is part of a larger series, but these recipes can be learned just using this book. Storey Publishing always does a great job with photos too, so you have that reference.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

I enjoyed this cook book that kid's friendly. It had recipes that kids might enjoy to make and eat. The recipes were easy to follow and they also had illustrations that show how the recipes look at the end.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

I appreciate the prep sections of this book. I especially liked that kids were taught about price comparison. This is not a skill I really gained until I was an adult. I appreciate the recipes in this book--I like that it's a mix of classic food that kids want and eat, as well as some recipes to branch out.

First, thank you to Deanna Cook and Storey Publishing for allowing me to view this book before it was available for mass market! This book was great. It not only incorporated many different recipes that were kid friendly, but the beginning had to be my favorite part. In the beginning of the book, there are all kinds of tips and tricks for kids when it comes to cooking - from cutting an onion to measuring liquids to kitchen rules that should be applicable to all cookers/bakers, honestly!

These tips allowed for me to utilize some of the recipes with my own four-year-old son who loves to cook with dad in the evenings. The recipes were easy to follow in terms of directions given, with step-by-step explanations on how to do and when to do different steps. The recipes themselves were quite healthy, too, but also quite repetitive - you can only eat so many bean and rice dishes before you tire of them!

My only quip was because I read this on a Kindle, the formatting was very, very difficult to follow. Often times, I'd find a step, turn the page and the next step was nowhere to be found. Would have to skip another page or two and then the step I was looking for would appear. The pictures also were not formatted correctly, and some would show while others would be a large blank screen.

Overall, this book was a great addition to our cookbook collection. Thank you again for the opportunity!

Great and fun cooking ideas to share with your children. What better way to get kids interested in eating a variety of foods than by cooking them themselves.

Most kids enjoy 'helping'in the kitchen, but when in a rush I usually find myself chasing them out so I can just get done.
This book allowed me to give my 8 year old a bit more independence in the kitchen.

The book has plenty of illustrations and step by step guide on how to prepare and cook meals. She could select and crack on with what she chose.

The book is colour and set out in a way that is appealing for kids and motivates them to get involved.

Recipes are tasty but simple to follow.

A great book for getting your kids interested in food and how to cook.

I enjoyed the recipes in this cookbook for kids. I found them complex enough for a tween to be challenged yet, simple enough to assure success.

The explanation of often used cooking terms is sure to be helpful. The author also frequently stresses the importance of safety and sanitation while cooking.

Empanadas are a favorite of mine. I can’t wait to try the recipe included here. The variety of recipes makes for a nice mix so kids will have different options no matter what type of food they want to cook.

This book will make an excellent addition to every kitchen library. Whether you are creating family memories while cooking together or letting kids take turns feeding the family, this is an excellent resource.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of the book. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

What a fantastic cookbook for beginners! I know that it's written for kids ages 8-12, but I am a fully-grown adult, and I learned some things, too.

We'll be adding this one to our bookshelf so the kids can learn kitchen basics and cook dinner once a week.

This is such a fantastic cookbook for kids! Wonderful recipes, and easy to follow. My daughter really enjoyed trying out of new foods that she made herself. Definitely recommend for anyone with a child who is interested in cooking.

This is a great cookbook to get your kids into cooking! I loved letting my son and daughter choose recipes to try! While they still needed some help, there was a lot that y 4 and 5 year old could do, and I love that this acted as such a thorough guide for them. Definitely would buy this for friends and so glad I have it to keep using with my own kids!!

Kids Cook Dinner by Deanna F. Cook is a fun and easy to follow cookbook. The author does a good job of providing an introduction to kitchen safety, terminology, and techniques. The recipe section features a variety of types of kid friendly foods beyond chicken nuggets (even though I love those!) The recipes include grilled cheese, tabbouleh, popcorn chicken, lentils, and more.

I have been trying to include my 2 year old son in cooking our meals because I find that he is more willing to eat the meal if he helps. He really seems to enjoy it, so I loved the name of Deanna F. Cook's new cookbook, Kids Cook Dinner, and I had to request it from Netgalley.

There are so many things that I like about the cookbook. I am a huge sucker for pictures. I really think that we eat with our eyes first and it always surprises me when cookbooks don't include pictures for each dish. This cookbook not only includes a picture of each completed dish, but includes step by step pictures of a child preparing it. There were a few dishes where the final picture did not look very appetizing to me though. There were also a few random picture drawings where I was confused by what purpose they served.

The book pushes healthy meals and I appreciate that it shows serving size for each recipe but I wish it showed the nutritional information as well. "Healthy" is a word that I feel that can get thrown around a lot so being able to even see the number of calories per a serving is helpful.

There are many recipes in this book that I plan on making with my son. The formatting is weird on my kindle and I recognize that it is because it's an unpublished copy of the book, so I am planning on purchasing this book for us to use.

Rating: 3 out of 5 because I wish it had nutritional information especially since its calling itself "healthy" recipes. Also because some of the pictures were not very appeasing and/or did not seem necessary to the cookbook.

Kids Cook Dinner: 25 Healthy, Budget-Friendly Meals (Cooking Class). By Deanna F. Cook. 2022. Storey Publishing (ARC ebook).

The cookbook begins by providing guidance to kids on how to keep clean and safe, how to measure carefully, how to prep food, and how to read recipes and food labels. The recipes have a mix of dishes by food type and region. Each recipe shows photos of the dishes as they are being prepared by kids and how they look as the final product. Overall, the book presents the food and actions in good order and offers helpful tips. It should be easy for kids to follow for some tasty food.

The ARC subtitle states 25 recipes, I counted 24 recipes and the subtitle elsewhere states 23 recipes.

As an avid cook, I am keen to get my young daughter involved in cooking. This book is perhaps too old for her at the moment but I found it to be easy to follow bright and fun. Ideal for an older child who wants to get started in the kitchen and build their confidence.

An excellent first cookbook for middle grades! The recipes are simple and kid-friendly, but still respectful of kids as competent budding cooks with the ability to appreciate good flavor and a variety of cuisines. There is a nice introduction listing basic safety rules and explaining how to get a mise en place together. Tips for how to navigate the grocery store and find the best values are also very useful.

Each recipe includes a clear ingredient list and instructions accompanied by photos of most steps. so many learning styles can be accommodated. There are also helpful sidebars teaching basic skills (cutting an onion, boiling eggs, etc.) and suggesting presentation ideas. The meals suggested are nutritious and budget-conscious and incorporate dishes from many different cultures. This would be an awesome gift for any young chef looking to expand their skills!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
