"Tarot Rituals: Ceremonies, Ideas & Experiences for the Tarot Lover" by Nancy C. Antenucci falls short of expectations for those seeking insightful and engaging content on the subject. While the book promises to delve into the world of Tarot rituals, it ultimately delivers a disjointed and underwhelming collection of ideas and experiences. The execution of the concept lacks depth and cohesiveness, leaving much to be desired.

One of the book's notable drawbacks is its lack of clear structure and organization. The content feels scattered, with concepts and ideas presented in a haphazard manner. This makes it challenging for readers to follow a logical progression or grasp the overarching themes of the book. Additionally, the writing style can be overly verbose and abstract, making it difficult to extract practical guidance from the text.

While the book does touch on a variety of Tarot-related rituals, many of them are presented in a superficial manner, without the depth of explanation or context needed for readers to fully engage with them. Some of the rituals feel disconnected from the core principles of Tarot, leaving readers questioning their relevance to the practice.

I was provided an advanced copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I was able to follow along easily and is great for beginners. It also had some other patterns i guess is the word for different readings.

This is a great one to add to your reference shelf. There are a few rituals I will be revisiting and adding to my tarot practice.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

I use tarot on a regular basis but this book is full of a wide variety of rituals and other ideas on how to use tarot. This will be a well used book in my collection.

This book packs a lot of information. I read through it to write this review, but for readers wanting to do the exercises and lessons I would suggest reading a bit at a time. Take your time doing the exercises, rituals, etc. Readers should take their time going through the book.

For those starting out, the book starts with the basics of ritual and structure, then it works its way up to more elaborate concepts. For advanced Tarot practitioners who already do rituals as part of their practice, they could skip ahead to specific chapters and find rituals and lessons of interest. The book works for Tarot practitioners at every level from beginners to advanced. Personally I do very little ritual with my Tarot practice, so I would start at the beginning and work my way up. Other readers can do what works for them.

A strength of the book is in the broad range of rituals and content. There is a lot of material. It can be a bit overwhelming, which is why I say to work with the book a bit at a time. Still, you get plenty of choices. Another strength of the book is that the rituals and activities can be for solo practitioners and/or for practitioners who read for others. As much as possible, the author strives to be inclusive.

Overall, I really liked the book. This is a book that I would go back to again and again both to do some of the activities as well as find ideas to add to my craft down the road. With the wealth of information it offers, readers can get a lot out of this book.

This book was beyond anything I imagined!

For someone like me, who dwelled in the tarot world more searching for the pictorial symbols, this book was a game changer. It features actual rituals on how to deepen your relationship with the cards: from rituals to bring into your life the teachings of each major arcana card, to small ceremonies for yearly events or for lifetime events (like women phases or weddings).

Not only did this book made me gain a much better understanding of my relationship with the tarot, but what is absolutely priceless is the tone and the vibe in which the teachings are written. There is a sort of closeness, of care, there is a lot of love and empathy in the phrasing. I absolutely loved this! I also loved how the whole writing comes from this point of intuition and creativity, from a very personal standpoint, being perfect for people who never used the cards, but also for hard core practitioners. Everyone can learn from this.

It's the kind of book you first read, than you keep closer, than you use it to incorporate its teachings in your practice until it becomes a close companion. A truly invaluable work!

I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion about it.

The introduction to this tells of the author's experience of Tarot and what brought her to the idea of working spells with it.

From there I found it very much focused on American Wicca at a beginner level, complete with the juxtaposition of elements for wands and swords that was introduced by A.E. Waite in 1910 to introduce an error into 'secret' esoteric knowledge.

Having said that, the examples of simple rituals would be useful for someone new to this idea as long as they make a mental note that air rituals would be appropriate for wands and fire for swords. Many won't want to do that and that's fine for them, especially as so many modern decks have perpetuated this error. Personally I find using symbols is powerful magic and I'd rather use them meaningfully.

It's a pretty book, but the author does ramble a lot and I felt disappointed there was not really anything new to add to what I already practice.

Rituals setup part of book not separated/set up differently. Gives rituals or spells one may not think of. Good addition of expanding tarot experience.

This is another useful book for my library. When it is released I will be getting a hardcopy. The author goes in depth about not only how to perform an assortment of rituals but why you would want to. These exercises are not to be rushed through. Some people will get more out of this book and some less. As anything in life it depends on where you are in your growth. Take your time with this book and practice :)

The writing had me captivated from the start to finish, and I found myself reading it almost straight through one sitting. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Tarot Rituals – Nancy C Antenucci
@NetGalley

While not one of my usual reads this was a great and instructive and useful handbook/tool to use to further your use of Tarot and allows the reader to see deeper into the messages the Tarot bring forth.

I love that this book has given me a deeper understanding of my Tarot deck and a more companionable relationship.

The Ritual suggestions are great and I will be referring back to this for guidance.

I must admit -- I'm a bit biased when it comes to this sort of information. I am not a ritual-focused practitioner and I have very little tolerance for the art. I support those who follow such practice, of course -- if it works for someone, then more power to them. But I hesitated to read this one only because I've had difficulty finding any use in ritualistic approaches in the past.

I'm glad I took the chance. Though there are some aspects of the practices in this book that don't really suit my Craft, I must admit that there's a lot to be gleaned from these pages.

There's so much information about the tarot in this book, with tons of unique insights into the way we read and interact with our cards. I think many readers forget that these are tools that we use to access our own abilities, and this book helped to reassert that truth. I loved the new ways of looking at the cards and their meanings, or how to apply their use to everyday situations.

This was a unique take on a traditional medium, and I'm glad I tried it out. For those who feel the same as I do, that ritual and ceremony is stuffy and doesn't fit your Craft at all -- I encourage you to take a look at this book anyway. There's a lot of great insight here, and it would be a shame to miss out on it.

Wow, I truly enjoyed this book! One of my all time tarot favourites that I can highly recommend. I took so many notes whilst reading and I'm sure I'll need to order a physical copy of this as soon as it comes out. The book is beautifully written, with tons of useful information and Nancy takes into consideration all of the different perspectives people might have of tarot and ritual.

The first chapters talk about your personal relationship with tarot, then it moves onto tarot from collective perspective, and the last chapters go through creating your own rituals. There are plenty of interesting spreads and takes on traditional tarot meanings. I would mostly recommend this to advanced tarot readers since it does not go deep regarding the basics, so if you are a beginner maybe read a tarot basics book first.

Thank you to NetGalley, Llewellyn and the Author for providing this ARC!

This is a very practical book with excellent, lucid and simple creative ideas and insights how to create spreads and rituals using tarot cards as guidance. Basically, it is manual of magic and divination since many techniques are connected with 6 steps how to do ritual and basic or more complex card spreads. Of course, this is just one of ways to approach tarot as magical tool also, but there are other ways (see book Elemental Magic for Witches forex.) and that should be explained in this book but it is not. Interesting and fascinating book so if you love tarot magic, divination and ritual, then please read it.

Tarot Rituals had lots of information to help you with tarot cards but for me I found there was a lot to take in so I would have to keep coming back and just read bits of small information first so I can take it in. There is drawings of the tarot cards to give you idea where to place them .
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.
