4.5☆
I read almost this whole book in a day so I think it's safe to say I couldn't get enough. Helen, Achilles and Patroclus are all flawed and imperfect characters and I really love that about this series especially. For me it makes theirs story mean that much more and they feel much more real. They stumble at times and I really love that within their story. Achilles and Patroclus has such a complex and deep relationship that I just adore. Helen is such a strong woman who always seems to be underestimated. I love the dynamic she creates, but even more so the competition for Ares makes for such a good character story for the three of them. I did love that I got a little hunger games vibes because of the competition. I really enjoyed their complicated journey together and what their future ends up being. I also am very interested to see how this series unfold with more and more going on in Dark Olympus.

This is another great installment in Katee Roberts Mythological series and featuring a throuple with Helen of Troy, Achilles and Patroclus . I love the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus and when they each discover they are attracted to Helen who is the prize for the next person who becomes Ares and what they do about that. This is packed with political intrigue, brutal competion and twists you don't see coming. This was a fun fast read and a great MFM romance.

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

As always, Katee Roberts delivers with a smoking hot story with Achilles, Patroclus, and and Helen. While competing to become the new Ares, longtime couple Achilles and Patroclus discover an attraction to Helen. Read this if you want a spicy, polyamorous romance.

Wow—just when I thought the first two books in the series couldn’t get any hotter, this third installment absolutely *blew me away*! It’s not just steamy—it’s explosive. The chemistry between this ménage à trois is off-the-charts intense, and the heat they generate could burn down Olympus itself. From the fiery passion to the emotional depth, this book delivers on every level and then some.

What really sets it apart is the dynamic power balance between Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus. While I usually lean toward MFM romances, this one took me by surprise in the best way. It’s so much more than erotic romance—it’s a high-stakes, action-packed battle to become the next Ares. With brutal competition, political scheming, and edge-of-your-seat twists, I found myself flipping pages with my heart pounding, stress-eating popcorn, and praying my favorites would come out on top.

The characters are incredibly well-crafted. Helen is more than a beautiful face—she’s clever, strategic, and emotionally resilient. Achilles is a fierce warrior with raw strength and intensity, while Patroclus brings balance to the trio with his intelligence, patience, and quiet strength. Their emotional and physical connection is magnetic—each one complementing the others in deeply satisfying ways.

From the gritty, blood-soaked tournament to the fiery bedroom scenes and sharp political intrigue, this book has everything. I loved the cameos from previous characters, and the addition of Hermes and Dionysus was a delightful bonus. Without a doubt, this is my favorite book of the series—I only wish I could give it more than five stars!

This was interesting because I haven't seen a whole lot of reverse harem in mainstream popular romance. I struggled with certain ways that the plot staggered, chapter to chapter, and the overly domineering nature of some of the characters.

A retelling/ retooling of the Helen of Troy story that's hot enough to melt and wicked enough to turn the story around.

Spicy romance full of suspense. Well written and very sexy. Don't be off put by the trio. You won't want to put it down.

A M/M/F retelling of Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus as they figure out who the new Ares will be.

This story has it all as loyalty is tested in a competition for total control. Who will survive the temptations? Who will give into feelings?
A very spicy read as Helen realizes whom she desires as she takes control of her life and is able to protect herself.

Will anger and jealousy destroy friendship? It is possible to have it all, sometimes you just need to be a bit creative.

A must read.

Katee Robert is a genuine expert in the genre. The complexity she builds into her world with this book is stellar. It is not something appropriate for a classroom reading but I do like the access it and the whole series gives to new interpretations and understandings of the historical lore

I have loved Katee Robert for a while now, and the Dark Olympus series definitely holds up to the other works I have read of theirs. Wicked Beauty is the third book in this series and I was pleasantly surprised with the twist on the classic mythological story of Helen of Troy. The relationship between Helen, Patroclus, and Achilles was full of angst and surprises. I love how they were in competition with each other, but had the forced proximity aspect. I felt like I was figuring out their dynamic at the same time as they were and it was oddly satisfying. I have continued to read this series as there is an overarching storyline, and more of Robert's works. I definitely recommend this series (and more specifically, this book) for all who love their greek mythology with some twists and spice :)

Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert is a perfect fit for readers who crave a scorching and emotional romance, with a strong focus on LGBTQIA+ representation, Greek mythology, and themes of power, desire, and self-discovery, all set against a backdrop of high-stakes competition and danger.

I sat down, and in a blink of an eye, I’d reached the end. And I cannot even understand how I was able to become so immersed in a book, since I was having doubts about reading it in the first place. It was going to be my first mmf romance, and I wasn’t sure about what I would find in those pages. But honestly, the character development, and the completely human relationship that Katee Robert was able to create in this book between our three main characters hooked me from page one. And in just a few hours, I’d devoured the whole thing.

Let’s do a quick recap: this is the newest book in her Dark Olympus series and it follows Helen, Achilles and Patroclus, with chapters from each of them. Her first two books focus on Hades & Persephone, and then Eros & Psyche. I think I enjoyed it more than the previous book, because it had that same level of character development and humanity as the one before, but it also added a level of spice that I felt was missing in Eros’s and Psyche’s story. Honestly, it was my first experience with mmf romance and I absolutely loved it. I loved how well written the development of the relationship happens, and how open and honest the characters are especially given the circumstances in which all of this happens.

However, I have to admit that it did feel as if we took a step back from that overall plot of Olympus. Why? Because the premise of this book is based on participating in the trials that will define the next Ares of Olympus. Helen, brother to the new Zeus, is chosen as the trophy bride to whomever does become the next Ares if they win the trials. And of course, our fierce and unstoppable Helen wants nothing to do with that and actually wants Ares’s title for herself as badly as any of the other contenders. She decides to participate, and so do Achilles and Patroclus – the two long time lovers who are both ready for Achilles to become the next Ares. And that’s how they find themselves separated from the whole city while they prepare for the three ordeals that will define who the final winner is. And of course, the three of them are stuck in the same apartment, living in close quarters and just creating a level of tension that’s to die for. The games & the danger behind each ordeal make it a fun experience, but it also took us completely out of the politics and intricacies that being part of Olympus brings, and I felt that I missed that. Following that overall plot of the series, this book felt like a small vacation from the Greek politics of the Thirteen gods of Olympus.

But, even with that, this book had so much romance and honesty and I felt that the humanity of our main characters could be felt through the pages that it was almost impossible not to fall in love with them all. There’s so much heat and explicit content of those spicy scenes that leave you panting for more. Moreover, the explosive energy between them and the animosity of being real rivals for Ares’s position makes it for an awesome read. I think the only one I sometimes felt slightly annoyed with was Achilles and his never ending ego, but it played out nicely with Patroclus honesty and Helen’s fierceness.

If you’re looking for a spicy Olympus filled with betrayal, danger and great characters, this series is a must, and this third book is an incredible addition to that story. Hopefully, we’ll reach a point where we can see more of Olympus as a whole, and how each of these stories actually relate to one another. I cannot wait to read our next dark Olympus romance.

I loved the story of Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus. I thought the balance of the characters together was phenomenal. Helen was strong and tough and showed that she had more to her than beauty. Achilles was an amazing warrior and Patroclus was calm and balanced everyone. I loved the competition and enjoyed the journey that the characters took us on

The plot of this book felt like an after thought, almost like the author wanted to figure out a reason Helen, Achilles and Patroclus needed to be in the same room.

If you're looking for throuple smut, then you're in the right place.

I absolutely loved the premise behind this book. A battle to become on of the 13 was a really fresh take on the gods and one i very much enjoyed.

I loved seeing the relationship between Achilles, Helen and Patroclus grow and how they overcame the differences at the end of the book.

I love Katee Robert and she is an insta-buy author for me. This whole series is very creative and manages to stay true to a lot of Greek myths with added spice and entanglements. Her stories will always entertain and being a new crop of readers interested in myth retellings.

I'm not sure who I like better Patroclus or Achilles but if I had to pick it'd probably say Helen. Talk about a bad @ss beauty. She is strong and capable and brought BOTH men to their knees.
