This was a fun early graphic novel meant for those just beginning chapter books. Haley is child and Comet is a comet. Haylee’s best friend left her when he moved to another location a while ago and he’s coming back to visit. Comet is a little worried that Haley‘s new old friend might not like them and might get in the way of their friendship with Haley. But they all get along and have fabulous adventures together. The illustrations are bright and colorful and for someone just moving onto longer books and away from easy readers it would be a nice story that they’re sure to enjoy.

It's a very sweet book, and I think it'll appeal to kids who like Mo Willems, like my own son. It has humor and a nice story about friendship.

A cute book with a creative title, this gem blends social-emotional lessons about friendship with science facts in an easily-accessible format. Language is simple enough to be easily understood by young children during read aloud and appropriate for up to age 8 or 9.

The story revolves around three friends. The main character, Haylee, has an old-friend, Jojo, coming to visit her, and her new friend, Comet feels a little left out at first as the old friends reunite. The characters are able to express their feelings and come together as a group of friends to have fun together.

This short graphic novel would be a great fit for early readers as the language is simple and the story is easy to follow. This book is different from other graphic novels or early readers as the narrative is woven with facts about space. The facts are carefully tied into the narrative so as not to disrupt the story. For example, the main character interviews the moon to share facts about it. The story is cute, and it shares a helpful message about friendship without being pedantic. I think that there is room for the narrative to be expanded to include how Comet came to earth. There is a short informational section on comets, and that might be a good place to share the story of how Comet met Haley.

This is the second book in this easy graphic novel series. You don't really need to read the first one to understand what's happening in this one. Haylee and her new best friend Comet, who is a comet, love to have adventures together. When Haylee's old best friend, Jojo, sends a letter saying he is visiting they get excited planning fun activities to all do together. The three new friends have a great time together, after getting over the hump of what it means to be an old best friend and a new best friend. The text is simple to read and the illustrations are fun and bright.
