Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review. Sadly the content within this book is not good for my mental health which I did not realise at the time so I am very sorry for that! I will give this 3 Stars as I couldn't review it properly. Apologies again!

This is a thorough and well-organized book that serves as the perfect beginner's guide for those interested in crystals, essences, and candles. The book is divided into different sections that focus on ways to cleanse your space and change your life with elements that are all around you. These include crystals, candles, plants, food, and essential oils. Each section focuses on the different elements with what each type can do for you such as citrine used for healing, pomegranates used to get in touch with ancestors, and basil to attract love. Highly recommended for those that are starting out, those that are curious, and those seeking a simple guide to follow.

The witches book of spell craft by Jason Mankey is a wonderful example of a witchcraft book. This book touches upon many different magical subjects and gives a good overview of magical practice. I like how the book goes over spell casting, making a magical space, herb and plant magic, crystal, oils, knot magic, candle magic and moon magic. This book is a wonderful reference for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

This book was GOLD! There are a plethora of spellbooks out there. The Witch's Book of Spellcraft hit differently. The concepts are explained very well and thoroughly and then various spells executing those concepts are provided. I haven't found many books like that. Most of the time it's just a book of spells and you're left trusting the author or doing hours of research and you might as well write your own spell at that point. This was the best of both worlds and I highly recommend it.

I like a witchcraft book that is well-rounded, down to earth and hits hard from the beginning with that magical knowledge. And this book fits the bill...1000%. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this book. An excellent read!! I read this book via NetGalley in en exchange for my honest opinion.

This book is all inclusive as far as unique spells and earth magic included. You can learn about hair magic and a collection of other magicks as well. I thought this book was amazing. It was easy to follow and understand. I certainly loved the fact that there are a huge amount of spells in this book to learn. It is just a magnificent guide that is perfect from the beginner to the novice and everyone in between. I most definitely recommend this book.

This review has been posted on my Goodreads account fictionalhearts (see below) on March 6th, 2022.

The Witch’s Book of Spellcraft is a comprehensive guide for spells and anything that working one entails. After a short and cohesive introduction, the author (or rather authors, as this book is a collaborative work with Jason Mankey as a head writer) goes into the ethics of spellcraft and thus shines a light on the groundwork of witchcraft and what casting a spell is actually about.

I thoroughly enjoyed the structure of this book, as it was divided into categories that reflect the different kinds of spell magic you will encounter. First, we get a deep dive into certain items that will facilitate set intentions, such as crystals, essential oils or candles, before the respective next chapter focuses on the exact kind of spellcraft you can work with these magical properties. This way, you get the required background knowledge before reading about specific spells to help you with the kind of problem you’d need that spell for. Another aspect I enjoyed is that the spells start out rather easy and then build their way up to more advanced techniques. So while you don’t need to read this book chronologically, you will pick up a number of skills along the way if you do.

It's also quite easy to follow the writer’s thought process and I liked the explanatory nature of this guidebook, giving examples when needed and referring back to the history of witchcraft to point out the basics of what working in tune with the universe is like. The sections are a welcome length that aren’t too overwhelming while still providing you with vast knowledge of everything that’s important. I also liked the appendixes which made it easy to find spells and I enjoyed that the authors have provided us with additional resources at the end of this book.

One of my favorite things about this book, however, are the illustrations and visualizations that support the written text. Personally, I would have liked there to be even more of those, as for a topic like witchcraft, there is always room to illustrate more and switch it up a little. With so many guides on witchcraft on the market, lots of them illustrated, a book focused mainly on text might seem daunting to some.

All in all, The Witch’s Book of Spellcraft isn’t a guidebook that reinvents the wheel, but it is a book that offers a comprehensive, cohesive introduction to spellcraft and everything it entails. An easy-to-follow writing style and a great structure make this book stand out amongst others and prove that it should not be missing from any witch’s library!

I received an eArc from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a digital copy of this book.

I absolutely loved this book and how it was structured! Having a section on each basic type of spell followed by a variety of examples was so helpful and I've added a bunch of them to my personal grimoire!

"Magick is not supernatural; it's simply how the universe works. Sometimes we can explain the magick, such as a seed becoming a seedling and rising up from the ground, but it's still magickal. Just because something can be explained doesn't make it any less magickal."

As someone who's had little to no contact to magick and spellcraft, this book really made me want to get more into it and try out some spel.ls on my own. Even for amateurs, this is very comprehensively written and, despite being a non-fiction book, reads as engagingly as a novel.
The authors discuss the basic rules of spellwork as well as getting into differend methods and tools such as candles, crystals, herbs or incense.

I'm pretty sure I'll buy this as a beginner's guide to start practicing myself.

This was a really good book. I really liked how the introductory chapters were written and how they built on each other to lead to the main subject of the book. Also, having read my fair share of witchy books, mostly geared towards beginners, I felt like this book had many new ideas that I’d never read before and others that I had, but were better explained, and that’s what really made it worth the while for me. I also thought this book was quite long, in a good way, and thorough. It had tons of spells and rituals, and they were very varied. I’m confident that it has something for everyone. It just really felt like quality work. Overall, I really enjoyed it and, once it comes out, I’ll definitely be picking up a physical copy to add to my own library.

What a fantastic read, truly. I'm not new to this and I still found a lot of useful information here. I see a lot of benefits in this book for someone new to the craft. I types of spells included are useful to most and I liked the addition of oil recipes commonly used. I think this is a definite addition to a baby witches bookshelf for sure. Fantastic layout.

The thing I liked best about this book is that the author reminds you of the tenets of the craft, though some may not care to harm none or fear the repercussions of what they send out into the world. But having said that, and having warned the reader, he then gets into the actual practice of the craft and includes input from other contributors. If you’re curious about spellcrafting or are a new witch, this book is for you!

A very comprehensive and practical book that gives detailed instructions on how to make change in your life. This book by Jason Mankey is written in a conversational tone and covers many of the questions anyone who actually does the work has, Examples are given of what, why, and how to make your own spells besides the many common needs that are included. Overall, this is a solid and IMO will be a classic, spell book. Beginner friendly and more experienced too. I dont think you can go wrong using this book for improvong your life.

3.5-4 stars. Easy to follow and in biographical format.

This book includes the workings of the primary author and co-authors. It provides biographical perspective into the authors' experiences with different groups, workings, and items. For example, the authors cover uses of candles and their varying colors, herbs and their historical uses, crystals, and more.

This is a good starting book for beginners and is clear and easy to read.
