I want to start by saying thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book! Although I was really drawn in to the plot sadly this book wasn't a five star for me. I am an avid romance reader and this book is a second chance romance with a fixer upper spin. This book has three main characters, an all American boy, the not so good guy, and the shared love interest. This book is really about the rekindling of Cameron Riggs, all American good guy who walked away from acting and someone who was clearly his first love, and Shelby a young actress who self destructed in the public eye trying to reclaim her newfound self and image. Their rekindling takes place in the form of a reality TV show about fixing up houses that happens to be produced by their old costar (and Shelby’s ex) Lyle.
Don't get me wrong the steamy scenes were fun and the friends to lovers storyline was definitely appealing but it was a little too slow for me. It is sweet and at times spicy romance with a slow burn. I found myself being able to put it down and not excited to pick it back up. I understood the reason these two could not be together and I was rooting for them but I felt like we were missing fun banter and sexual tension throughout the book. The characters are so good together that it's painfully obvious but the journey getting there felt lack luster. That being said there were definitely scenes and chapters that I loved and the characters are great but I wanted a little more.
Overall, if you are looking for a lighthearted read and are a fan of friends to lovers or second chance romance pick it up!

Being reunited with your first love can be a heady enough experience, but when you are both former child stars who are going to be working on a home renovation show together things get a little more complicated. Luckily when you have chemistry like Shelby and Cameron, the kind anyone within in a five mile radius can feel, complications don't seem to matter as much.
The chemistry between Cameron and Shelby was my favorite part of this book. It was the type that can set the pages a flame with the longing. It made the basic lack of communication between them even more difficult to take when it is already one of my romance pet peeves. Luckily; the two of them have solid best friends to support them and liven things up. The villains could have used some more development, When a figure from one character's past shows up I expected something monumental to happen and it didn't turn out to more than a mild annoyance for a couple of pages. The roadblocks towards their HEA never seemed worthy of the fuss when they had such deep feelings for each other and I just wanted to read more about them spending time together being adorable.
This was a fun book that definitely met the mood I was in. I am ready to read more by Erin Hahn.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

nothing better to read than a second chance romance. seriously it owns my heart. i absolutely loved this book, the author, the plot, the characters! chefs kiss!

When I read the first chapter of this book, I didn't think it was going to be for me, but I'm so glad I stuck it out. I really liked both of the main characters and thought there were some really funny moments.
There were two reasons I knocked it down a star. First, sometimes the author would lead you into these really emotional internal moments and then squeeze in a joke or pun or something that totally took me out of the moment. Second, I couldn't connect Shelby to the party girl persona. Obviously, in the present day (when the story takes place), Shelby has done a lot of growing. But even in the flashbacks, we never really see that part of her. It's hard to fully appreciate her journey from Point A to Point B when you never really saw Point A.
That said, I still had a lot of fun reading this and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes contemporary romance or is in need of a comfort read (because this book is just one big hug).

I couldn’t put this book down! This is the first book of Erin Hahn’s that I’ve read, and now I definitely need to add the others to my TBR. Shelby and Cameron were child stars that both left Hollywood and went their separate ways. Ten years later, they both end up being pitched a pilot idea for a home renovation show and have to navigate their unresolved feelings for each other as well as how to work with their third costar again. Loved how it was told through dual POV.
Thank you @netgalley and @stmartinspress for this ARC! 📚

I really enjoyed this book! It had me hooked from the first chapter, and kept me on my toes the entire time! I fell in love with the characters and the romance!

I have pretty much accepted that if Erin Hahn writes it, I am going to love it. This story was no different. Add in to that the fact that this was a second chance romance, and I was in heaven. I absolutely LOVED this one! Add it to your TBR IMMEDIATELY!

Built to Last is a cute second-chance romance that is perfect for HGTV lovers!
Shelby and Cameron were each other’s first loves and co-stars. After leaving Hollywood altogether, Shelby is brought back into the reality tv scene for “Homemade” a house flipping show. Cameron is brought on as the contractor. The two have to navigate their shared history with each other, as well as with Lyle, their previous co-star and Shelby’s cheating ex-boyfriend who is the showrunner of their show.
I absolutely love dual POV romance novels and this one did not disappoint. Each POV had a strong voice and I loved watching them fall for each other again.
I did struggle with the amount of miscommunication in this book. For adults, it seems like they struggle to communicate on even a basic level. However, I loved that each chapter heading was a song title! I need to go back and make a playlist with all the songs. This is a super quick and fun read!
I look forward to reading more of her book’s in the future…fingers crossed that she writes Lorelei’s story next!
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Built to Last: A Novel comes out on October, 18th, 2022.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5!
Built to Last by Erin Hahn made my heart so happy. Starting off with a long line of missed connections and leading to a journey of two characters as they find their place in the world - this book was heartfelt, romantic and all around a great read. Once I started it I couldn’t put it down and I hope we see a sequel in the future!
*Thank you so much to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Erin Hahn for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book!
Adorable story with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Second chance friends to lovers story that I could not put down.
Don’t skip this one!

Children TV costars Cameron and Shelby were in love with each other from the start. They went their separate ways after their Tv show together as teens and grew into their selves but never stopped loving one another. They come back together to create a home-renovation reality show who is directed by their other child co-star, Lyle, who also happens to be Shelby’s ex. Through all the drama, Cam and Shelby remember why they fell in love in the first place and do it all over again.
Such an amazing story that is a heart throb for sure. I absolutely love the writing of the characters are quirky and fun and I just absolutely adored Cameron and Shelby’s relationship.
Check this book out when it releases this October. Definitely one of my favorite romcoms I have read lately.
Thanks NetGalley and Erin Hahn for this advanced readers copy!

oh my goodness how charming. extremely sweet and romantic and sexy, clearly drawn so much that you can see the movie in your mind. the hook is good, the characters are likable and it's just so satisfying

This book got me out of my book hang over, so good!

Somewhere between the two types of Hallmark movies is the plot of this book. Emotional abuse, addictions, and the steep price of fame are balanced out by childhood nostalgia and a couple of cinnamon rolls who constantly misunderstand each other and hurt each other but want the best for each other.

I liked the concept and tried really hard to continue with the book, however I ended up not caring for the characters that much and unfortunately dnfed.

A cute romance about a second chance love story. An easy read, would be great for vacation - or if you are a fan of HGTV. Some spicy scenes, FYI - I'd say medium-hot salsa. Perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory or Christina Lauren. The story flowed well and the addition of some family drama made me want to keep reading. The ending was my absolute favorite part, I how the author wrapped everything up!

I loved this book! Just outright absolutely adored it so much.
First off, these characters are awesome (except two, those two are terrible and I hate them) - Shelby is a total badass who, like so many people, made some mistakes in her youth. Sucks for her that they were very public mistakes, but she's turned into a woman I want to be friends with. And Cameron is just. So. Perfect. I loved that this was not your typical romance where the main love interests have some sort of falling out - the "us against the evil Lyle" feeling really worked for me. All around this was sweet, funny, and wonderful!

Opinion: Adorable and surprisingly spicy. I loved it. I was quickly hooked into this read and spoke about it often. It was fun and witty. Former child stars who secretly dated are reunited to film a “fix-it-up” type reality show. Working together is a breeze and so is the “fake flirting” but things (as always) get real and this witty storyline with lovable side characters will have you laughing.
Details from their past (since it’s a second chance romance) are seamlessly added to the storyline. I enjoyed the characters and nods towards modern references, the song titles (since they sang on their former tv show), and the supporting characters were great. Man I hope some of the side characters get their own books because they were just as wonderfully created as the main characters. When “Built to Last” is released in the fall, I’ll be happy to add it to my list of recommendations. So cute and spicy.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the early look in exchange for an honest review.

-Reality Show storylines. 📺

This wasn't my cup of tea but it will definitely appeal to some. There's a cute fixer upper vibe going on but that was the most likeable thing for me.
The language and open door sex is an instant turn off and the two main characters weren't very likeable. This was a DNF for me.

Reading Built to Last felt a lot like watching some of my favorite rom coms…the ones that I can’t pass up if they’re randomly on tv or that I know like the back of my hand so it’s just comforting to have it on in the background.
The characters weren’t picture perfect teen stars. They were real and had real issues which was refreshing. Loved the setting. Loved hating the antagonist. Loved rooting for the leading couple.
If you love a good romance with a little spice and flavor and ALSO have a thing for shows of the HGTV/Fixer Upper persuasion, then add this one to your list. Shelby & Riggs were MFEO. (And if you don’t understand that reference, google it, then add that movie to your watch list.)
And a big thank you to @stmartinspress and Erin Hahn for this eARC!
