Eve and her husband are desperate to be parents but feel like it will never happen after a string of heart-breaking miscarriages. Then one day their dreams come true, but instead of it being the happy occasion she always imagined it to be, Eve is trapped in a nightmare which she feels she must escape... and so she does. Now Eve is determined to put things right, but it might not be as easy as she thinks, especially when someone seems to be out to get her. Are her secrets no longer safe? Can she get her little girl back before it is too late?

A thrilling book that keeps you turning the pages until the shocking conclusion, Really enjoyed this book, liked the characters and also how the story moved between past and present. Brilliant and suspenseful!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

Firstly a huge well done to whoever designed the front cover for this book because I love it, it is so eye catching and would definitely make me pick it up in a book store. The book is well written with a compelling storyline and well developed charcaters that are believeable, relatable and likable - for the most part. I was gripped right from the start and couldn't put it down, twisty and unpredictable and kept me guessing until the end. I was on the edge of my seat. I loved it.

I am so sorry to the author but this book was not for me. It was SO repetitive, just regurgitating the same thing over and over. We are told that the mother has committed a crime and yet there wasn't one. There was supposed to be a big shocking twist and again there wasn't one. The plot had so many holes and much of it was so unbelievable that it bordered on ridiculous. I quote the title "An absolutely gripping psychological thriller" it was neither gripping nor a thriller. Another quote "A heart-stopping psychological thriller with an ending you won’t see coming" And yet again neither heart stopping or an ending I won't see coming. These types of books are saturating the genre and I for one am sick of them.

Another great book by Kathryn Croft! Thank you for this advanced copy! This book takes Eve, a mother dealing with post partum depression, and goes through her life of leaving her daughter, and trying to get back in her daughter's life. She has to deal with her ex and new girlfriend-a girl whom her daughter calls mommy. A jealous boyfriend, and an old friend who has sided with her husband. Eve gets some threatening emails, her car is smashed, she has to figure out who it out to get her. When her daughter is kidnapped, she discovers all sorts of lies. While I did not see the ending coming, I do feel the author put doubts about paternity in the readers head at an early stage. Good suspense. good book.

Thank you for this advanced copy. I love Kathryn's books. This is basically a story about Eve who has post partum depression to the point where she's considering hurting herself and her baby. Instead of telling anyone, she just runs away. Fast forward a couple years, she gets some threatening emails and wants her daughter back. There are many characters in this book that will keep you guessing. Why is Nicole so understanding? What exactly is Sophie hiding? What role does the tutoring play in the grand scheme of things. While the author pointed to some suspicious about paternity, I did not see the end coming at all. Part of this book seemed a little too far fetched for me, but the suspense was there. Great book overall!

Eve is a teacher who abandoned her husband and 3 month old daughter.
After two years of therapy, she feels a need to become part of her daughter's life.
Eve finds out that her husband has moved on, and the new woman in his life, Nicole is living with him and Kayla, Eve's daughter, regards Nicole as her mother.
Eve approaches her former best friend to ask for help and advice, but the best friend is against Eve having a role in Kayla's life.

Eve is a strong, determined woman, and makes friends with Nicole, who allows her to see Kayla again, against Aiden's wishes.

Throughout this story, it is clear that Eve puts other people first, and has a caring nature.

There are twists and turns in the book, that startled me, but made me want to read further.

A thoroughly enjoyable read for me.

Special thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

A twisty tale.
Eve wanted nothing more than to be a mother. She and her husband, Aidan, planned to have a family, but with each devastating miscarriage her hopes dwindled. When she eventually gave birth to her daughter, Kayla, it should have been the happiest time of her life. Instead, it was a waking nightmare for Eve, and one she was desperate to escape. Now, Eve has left all that behind. She pretends that she never had a child, and keeps her secrets close. But someone knows the truth. They know that Eve told a lie, and the clock is ticking before her shocking decision is revealed. Once the story comes out, there’ll be no way out for Eve. If people learn about the crime she covered up, they’ll never look at her the same way again. She must get her little girl back, before it’s too late. If she can’t, running away won’t be an option. This time, Eve will face the consequences, and pay the price she should have paid years ago…
Thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for giving me an advance copy.
