I'll be honest, I was a little doubtful in the beginning because it started with a few elements/plot devices that I don't typically care for. For instance, Sienna is pretty reactive and at times she and the other characters felt pretty melodramatic. But I have to hand it to the author, Sienna and Kayden both had a lot of character development and by the time the book ended, I was pretty happy with both characters. I think they did end up suiting each other well and there were definitely some sweet moments throughout their relationship. That being said, there are one or two instances where it felt really cliche (like the paint scene).

The only thing that is a bit of a pain point for me is just Sienna's background. She's supposedly this well-respected MMA trainer but she's like, 20. It feels incredibly unrealistic but if you're willing to suspend your disbelief on that one point (like I had to do), then it's fine. I definitely think that this is more of an enjoyable read if you are a young adult or like to read young adult books, but if you're like me and you prefer reading about slightly older MCs then this may feel too young adult. Again, nothing wrong with it being YA, but it's not for everyone so I just want to put that out there.

But I mean, overall, this was a solid read. There's a substantial plot, fleshed-out characters, character growth (for pretty much all characters, not just the MCs), and it does a pretty good job tying up all of the loose ends and plot points. I personally didn't like how one of the lines was wrapped up but that's just my preference; I think it ended up making sense in the context of the character. I definitely think it's worth the read if the blurb sounds like something you'd like. Big thank you to the author and NetGalley for sending me a free ARC. I'm happy to be leaving a voluntary review.

When Sienna Lane walks in on her boyfriend Jax Deneris in bed with her sister, her world falls apart. In less than five minutes, she’s homeless, friendless, family less. Vowing to get back at Jax, Sienna quickly charts a course of revenge that will hit him where it hurts most in the MMA ring.

Step one: convince Jax’s rival, Kayden Williams, to train with her.

At first, Kayden wants nothing to do with Sienna’s schemes, but when he figures out that she might be able to give him an advantage, he caves, letting her first into his home, then into his bed, and finally into his heart. But as much as she cares about Kayden, she can’t let her anger go, and it threatens the shaky foundation they’ve built together from their damaged lives.

When Kayden gives Sienna an ultimatum it’s either him or her revenge, she’s forced to decide. Is getting back at Jax worth throwing her future with Kayden away?
Read in one sitting really enjoyable read totally recommend

I thought this was going to be full of steam. This was a slow burn romance that didn’t really do anything for me. It was too long of a story, and I found myself not really caring about the plot. I just wanted more steam.

Sienna leaves home when she finds out her boyfriend of three years is also having sex with her roommate who also happens to be her little sister Beth (whose college tuition she pays). Then Sienna falls in lust/love with the guy ("Kayden the Killer Williamssss!") she grooms to literally beat her ex ("Jax the Deadbeat") up in the ring. Sienna and her sister go to Boston University, I don't understand how coaching martial arts at a UFG gym pays that kind of money, or why Sienna has to pay her sister's tuition anyway since she's her rich father's favourite, and he lives in Trump-like splendour. But the thing that bothered me the most is the weirdly stilted dialog that has these violent punk fighting kids sounding like British Vaudevillians: "Then let's kick some ass together, shall we?" "perhaps I should." "rather easily," "it's gonna be dreadful" "you were never the one to indulge in the underground."

I'm not a fan of violence in any form, and this story about violence-based entertainment was hard for me to get through. The writing in Perfect Addiction is so weak compared to Delilah S Dawson's in The Violence, which is also about a woman succeeding in the world of WWE Smackdown-level wackiness.

This is a story that has a lot of different levels. Many areas are ripe for the roller coaster of emotion as we deal with infidelity, family issues, anger, angst, and love.

The author did not hold back as she crafted her characters with a broad brush, dealing with many of life‘s hard knocks in between snippets of love and light.

One thing that did bother me was the age of the main character. At 18 or 19 years old, she seemingly is an expert in martial arts but yet has minimal life experience and is able to train MMA fighters…

Holding grudges and bringing others into her plot for revenge eventually catches up. Personally, I can’t fault her for being angry, however, throughout the story she was slow to forgive and open herself up for what truly was the blessing of forgiveness and love.

I really liked that the dynamics between the two. Kayden was right to hold to his beliefs, forcing the issue of togetherness. They both had a lot of pain to deal with. But she carried a lot of immaturities that made me a little crazy.

I’m not a huge fan of angst in my stories, and typical for the YA theme, this is loaded with it. But we also have growth, understanding, tolerance, and love. The fear gets in the way quite a lot but in the end, we do get a happy happily ever after, or so it seems.

Overall, super-steamy and intense in many aspects, but also loaded with bits of anger the reader slushes through.

Sienna is an MMA trainer, and a good one at that. When she walks in on her boyfriend Jax cheating on her with her sister Beth, she doesn't know what to do. But a plan starts to form when fate throws her in the direction of one Kayden Williams, who happens to be Jax's rival in the cage.

The two of them decide to work together to take Jax down, and may end up falling in love in the process.

Okay, I am SO HAPPY that this book worked for me in ways that Perfect Illusion didn't. I couldn't get through that one, but this one was so fun to read.

Not only is Claudia Tan skilled in writing MMA fighters (because our girl Sienna is one too), but the chemistry between the characters was off the charts too.

From their very first meeting, Sienna and Kayden had sparks and those sparks only got bigger and bigger as the book went on. The only thing I mind is that they were ready to permanently tattoo each other's names on their skin after a very short time together.

In general the romance happened pretty fast, but it felt like it didn't because of the training sessions in between. I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't for the previously mentioned tattoos and other stuff I won't spoil. Too fast!!! But they're cute.

Kayden is like a rock on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside. I like that he wasn't embarrassed around Sienna and could speak his mind and that he even blushed.

Sienna is great too, she's one of those characters that actually stays committed to what they say and I love her for that. I wish her revenge plan worked out a little differently though.

Jax...nothing could redeem him, I'm sorry. Beth too, I don't like her.

Brent and Evans were adorable, and good supportive characters.

One thing that happened here that I really didn't like is near the end, I wouldn't call it miscommunication, but one of the characters didn't trust the other enough which results in...something and that something was so annoying, I wanted to smack that character for doing it. But it's something that happens in a lot of romance books so it's not that surprising, I just get annoyed whenever it does.

So overall I really enjoyed this. It's somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars so I'll round it up to 4.

I first fell in love with Claudia Tan’s writing on Wattpad, so when I found out that her “Perfect Series” was getting published, I knew I had to get my hands on “Perfect Addiction.”

Tan writes sports romance well. She clearly knows her stuff when it comes to boxing and uses common terms to familiarize the reader with the sport and immerse them in the ring. Further, female athletes are typically underrepresented in this subgenre, so I love that both Kayden and Sierra, the two main protagonists, are both skilled at what they do.

Though this book is advertised as an enemies-to-lovers romance, its pacing makes it more akin to an insta-love romance. Kayden and Sienna fall in love within the span of three weeks, the time jumps making it seem even faster than that. From there, important milestones are reached at an even quicker rate, Kayden introducing Sienna to his parents after just a week of dating being a good case in point. Things happened way too fast for my tastes, but fans of this trope will definitely love what Tan has to offer.

In addition to the pacing having an effect on the romance that unfolds, it also rushes along characterization a bit. Not enough time was spent on fleshing out some of the supporting characters in favor of focusing on the revenge plot line, resulting in a surface level connection between the reader and those considered to be important to the protagonist.

Regardless, I love how Tan ended the novel, communicating how important it is to take time to reflect and heal in order to move on.

4.25/5 || Thankyou Netgalley and Claudia Tan for this ARC!
i previously read perfect illusion on wattpad a few years back and started perfect addiction but mid way through it became a paid story so i never finished it.
This book definitely exceeded all my expectations, i was going into it expecting a cringe typical bad boy book. But it had a lot more depth to the plot and characters which i loved. Sienna is a strong independent female lead and i loved reading her growth throughout the book. Hers and Kaydens relationship warmed my heart i loved them so much. Towards the end of the book i found myself actually loving jax 🫢 sue me it’s just i love reading redemption arcs especially when he really fucked up, so when i found out he has his own book omg i screamed and literally rushed to finish this book bc i want to read about him so bad.

My favourite quotes:
~ My weakness is you, Lucky
~Kayden is the only person who can make me feel like this.He makes me cry from laughter and soothes me afterward
with gentle words of expression. He makes me want to get a tattoo of him and stay in bed with him all day, floating in his
featherlight kisses. He makes me feel cared for and protected and leaves no room for doubt.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: friends to lovers, roommates, forced proximity, easy to read

Thank you NetGalley, Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and Claudia Tan for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sienna is a girl who was cheated on by her boyfriend and her sister and who wants revenge with the help of Kayden.

We find out about Kayden's life that it wasn't an easy one, and throughout the book we find out why he had certain reactions at the beginning of the book

I tried to connect with the characters, but I couldn't. The book is easy and quick to read, but it was just too light for me. Even the spicy scenes were not to my liking. However, it made me feel good and especially to distance myself for a few hours from the stress caused by the exams I had.

For awhile there I was liking the slow burn aspect of this romance but then it became more about the MMA fighting aspect and I was really wondering where the romance was. Yet i kind of like it at the same time? Kaydens out here confessing his love for Sienna but she knows nothing about him it seems like, he's so secretive about whatever it is that he's going through... I can't wait to see where this goes?
It's definitely a cute story in its own way. Funny too!
I loved the character development of Sienna in the story.. Even Kaydens character development too. So many aspects of the story I loved. The emotions, the families, the strong friendship bonds. And the sense of making your own family.
I loved the tie in of characters to the first book in this series. (I wish I could find book 1.5 before reading book 2, or at all for that matter.)
Honestly, even the slow burn made it even better in the end. Who would've thought.
This book made me feel so many things. And by the end I'm feeling myself get tearful. I definitely recomend this series!

Perfect Addiction by Claudia Tan is a grumpy-grumpy, underground fighting new adult romance between Kayden Williams and Sienna Lane. Before I begin my review, I want to express how proud I am of Claudia and how far she's come with her hard work. I mean, she went from publishing this book on Wattpad to physically publishing this book, and not only that, but a movie adaptation is in the works for the book as well.

Claudia had me hooked from the start, reading about Sienna discovering her boyfriend cheating on her with her own sister, and then struggling to find a room to rent, but that's where Kayden comes in, and the rest is well interesting but fun.

Claudia has a way with writing fictional book men, because even though Kayden was a grumpy a-hole in the first part of the book, he still managed to say the right things, well, sometimes, and that little smirk he would ONLY give to Sienna was everything. I was swooning from the first page and didn't stop until the end of the book. Claudia, also, has a way of writing BADASS women. I mean, she literally wrote Sienna, who never took crap from anyone, including Kayden, and she was a hell of a MMA trainer. Speaking of these characters brings to mind an iconic line from The Vampire Diaries: "It's ok to love them both. I did."

However, around halfway through the book, Sienna began to irritate me because she was obsessed with revenge for what Julian had done through Kayden, which at first seemed fine, but then feelings got involved, and her desire for revenge became stronger than her love for Kayden. Not only that, but the "breakup" scene, which is in EVERY romance novel to add angst and drama to the plot, was not for me. However, in the epilogue, when they finally reunite after being separated, I realized that both MCs needed that break because they were both holding on to the past, which was affecting their present and preventing them from moving forward. In terms of epilogues, I expected more, such as marriage, children, or literally anything grand, but all we got was the MC's reunion, which was not enough for me.

Overall, this was a swoon-worthy and steamy read with enough angst to make you feel everything.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this arc.
I was really excited to read this book since I first saw it on wattpad.
The first highlight of the book for me was our main character Sienna. I loved Sienna for most of the book, she is independent, strong opinionated and she knows to stand for herself and she knows her worth. Besides these, I quite liked her character development, how she learned from her mistakes and became a better version of herself.
Kayden is initially grumpy and rude and brooding but he’s actually a sweetheart. He’s kind and he has got a big heart. His love for Sienna was so good to read about and he treated her so much better for most of the part.
I even liked the side characters/ the best friends. They added to the humor of the book and always stood up for each other.
Perfect Addiction is a book I couldn’t put down in the beginning. I absolutely loved the tension and the chemistry that was slowly developing between Kayden and Sienna. The author did a good job in convincing that they’ve developed a bond and got to know each other and fall in love, unlike some books where the characters are abruptly head over heels for each other. However having said these I did find the romance scenes quite predictable, like I knew what was going to happen before reading it. So I wish that was a bit better.
I had different expectations from the ending and ngl I was a bit disappointed and confused at the end. However I do understand to some extent why things took a turn.
Overall I liked the pacing of the book, the interactions between the characters and their amazing amazing chemistry.
It’s a 4.2/5 for me.

I barely remembered being so invested in a book, but whoops.. here I am!

Perfect Addiction is truly addicting, extorting my emotions, making me feel things, and the heart-wrenching angst between Kayden and Sienna.. Everything just so good and unbelievably addictive.

I love how the writing is up to my standards where it is easy for me to read without pausing here and there, and the plot is consistenly put me at the edge of my seat. I love how it pulls me in with the tension between Kayden and Sienna, while placing fillers like information on MMA fighter and it is very interesting to read about.

Can I say I love the characters? (edcept for Jax and Beth of course). Even though I was pissed at times, but I think these toxic traits exist in everyone's personality. Both Sienna and Kayden need to work out a lot of their fragile emotions before ended up together. I should be mad when they split up, but then I realized that sometimes things didnt work out now just so it can work better in the future. Both of them needed this, and I applaud Claudia Tan for writing such amazing developments and growths for these characters.

Truly astounding, magnificent, and beautiful love story between Kayden, Sienna, and their family and friends.

This was a slow-burn read that definitely had a lot of buildup - the anticipation was intense! But stick with it, as the plot delivers. I found myself wanting a little more detail but that's a good sign of true investment in characters. Highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley, Claudia Tan, and Wattpad books for this eARC.

First off, holy smokes. The tension building in this book was 10/10.

Sienna is freshly heartbroken after finding out her boyfriend, Jax, of three years has cheated on her… with her sister, Beth?!?
Kayden is a mysterious unground fighter who seems to shun everyone at every turn.
These two come together with a common goal, to win the ultimate underground championship but the obstacles they face on the way are intense.
Will they make it? Will sparks fly or die? Does sienna forgive Jax or her sister? Does revenge really make anything better? Read to find out!

I rated this book a 3.5-4/5 because it is looooooooong. There’s definitely a story there, so I can’t really complain about it’s length and there is a fair amount of spice but the length got to me at times. However the story line is interesting and kept me coming back to read more.

I have been obsessed with this book since I discovered it on Wattpad(it has a special place in my heart). I’m so happy it is finally getting published! This book has always been one of my favorite reads growing up! I absolutely loved how we have more scenes between Kayden and Sienna that you don’t see in the Wattpad version. I love both Kayden and Sienna characters. This book will be published on July 19, 2022. I recommend you read this book and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Claudia Tan, and Wattpad books for this ARC.

i really liked the premise of this book, and was super excited to read it but the whole book felt like a first draft. the characters and conflicts were underdeveloped and every once in a while it felt like there where whole paragraphs missing because inner dialogue would just skip ahead. overall the plot was good i just felt like it needed to go through like 2-3 really good edits and it could be so much stronger
