This listen is amazing! I made sure to invite my 5 year old and 3 year old to enjoy with me, and it was a winner! They loved the sound effects and when listening, you feel like you are present in the story, feeling the Hawaiian warm air on your skin.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this Advanced Readers Copy.

This lyrical audiobook leaves adults and children alike, feeling relaxed and thankful for family, nature, and celebrations, big and small. The text is written in a format that repeats and builds on its self with a bit of rhyming and beautiful imagery. The audiobook narrator and sound design are fantastic, because they not only told the story through their words, but the tone, music, and sounds really create an experience for readers. This book also is a great way to learn a bit about Hawaiian culture. Readers learn about Hawaiian cultural values such as the importance of the land and family, as well as some terms through the glossary in the back of the book. Prior to reading this book I had not known about poi, the food being prepared for the luau. It was wonderful to learn the legend behind poi, and in turn, the origin story of Hawaiian people. I would suggest listening to the audiobook while looking at the text and illustrations for the most full experience.

(Thank you to the publisher for a ARC copy of this audiobook in exchange for a honest review.)

What a stunning book. I've never listened to a children's book before, and while I found myself wanting to see the illustrations that would accompany the words, the sound production and narration more than made up for the absence. If anything, I just want to go read it again and listen to it at the same time. Please, please, go pick this up. It's beautiful.

This is a cumulative rhyme book, done in the style of "Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain." This children's book focuses on a luau and moves further back to focus on the land. It was a book that can give kids a look at a luau and a glimpse of that land and culture.

I listened to the audiobook version of Ohana Means Family. I loved the music & sound effects that play throughout the story. My children enjoyed this book as well. They were able to learn about Hawaiian culture & now want to visit Hawaii.

I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review from netGalley.

A sweet story that tells of a family gathering in Hawaii. There were no pictures with this audiobook so I don't know how they go but the music made up for that fact.

Great book to teach kids Hawaiian cultures and traditions. The author's note and vocabulary list are very helpful in understanding the story.

A short but sweet story set among the Hawaiian people. It contains repeating phrases and poetic writing. The audiobook has a reader with a delicious voice and appropriate sound effects for the story. It even ends with a song! I think I child would Love to have both the picture book and audiobook together!

I can tell by the cover that this would be even better if you could see the book while listening. This is a cute picture book about Hawaiian culture using the phrase everyone learned from my favorite Disney movie.
The narrator was amazing, with a positive, comforting tone throughout the story.
Thanks to NetGalley for making this available

This audio would be perfect for a read along! The narrators voice is lovely and the sound effects are fun, realistic and relaxing. It was a little hard to follow if you don't know some of the things that are being talked about, pictures or a book to follow would help.

Thank you NetGalley .

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
While I think this would be improved to have the illustrations, just the audio was still enjoyable.

The title of this book drew me in because it reminded me of the Lilo and Stitch catchphrase "Ohana means family". I also was intrigued by the illustrations. The CD narration was excellent for students and a great way to draw them into a different culture. I teach about the regions of the US, and would love to use this when I begin teaching about the West. This region is so diverse, and it is sometimes hard to teach all of the different elements. I also loved how there was a glossary and dictionary for reference. I recommend this book!

This was a wonderful children's book. I enjoyed the music and sound effects within the audiobook. It also allowed the reader to hear the correct punctuation of the Hawaiian words. I will definitely pick up the physical book when it is released to see the illustrations that go along with the story.

This audiobook was a tuneful celebration of poi, and I learned a lot about the importance of this staple food for native Hawaiians! My kiddo said the music was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the text and the supplements at the end with more detail. I definitely would like to see the illustrations and think this would add a lot but the audio version is nice too.

It’s a cute picture book about Hawaii and the meaning of their family. I think I would rather read picture books in physical form than audio for the full experience
