Liv Spyers is a young NYC photographer trying to break into the business. She lives and works in a small studio underneath her grandparents locksmith shop in Greenwich Village. WheN gets hired at the last minute to help photograph a debutante ball (I didn’t realize those things were still “a thing”!), she thinks it’ll be her big break, but then she winds up finding a dead body! Her new employer is the first and only major suspect, so Liv gets involved to try to help clear her new boss’s name (and thereby save her own budding career).

I really enjoyed this glimpse into NYC high society as well as the whole idea of a photographer being super observant, which made a lot of sense to me. Liv is a great character and should appeal to people who like a cozy mystery but want to have a young main character. (I think Liv would be considered Gen Z, as she seems a bit too young to be classified as a Millennial.)

This should also appeal to people who want to read something seasonal - the action all takes place right before and after Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I’m looking forward to further adventures featuring Liv, her new love interest, Harry, and Liv’s friends and grandparents.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Cozies for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
