Pride and Prejudice is one of my all-time favorites and I basically know all the words in the book by heart (thanks to A&E's mini series). So I was really excited about this modern retelling. This book is SO TRUE to the original. Basically, every scene from the original is in this adaptation. I liked how it was adapted to modern times to tackle relevant issues -gentrification and racism but it felt a little short for me on the chemistry between the two main characters - Pride and Prejudice is like the original enemies to lovers and the reason it's my favorite trope so I was a tad let down that I didn't feel more of a connection. There were definitely some great scenes that built the tension that I loved but the ending just fell a little flat for me. Still, this was a good modern retelling with some steam!
Thank you to Berkley and the publisher for an advanced copy. Opinions are my own.
