We're plunged straight into the story where Milly keeps on seeing the same stranger over and over in her dreams. Whom turns out to be her destined lover, her mate, and also known as the weaver. Then she goes on an adventure to figure out who is the weaver, the concept and the person, and how does a person goes on about being their queen, wife, companion, soulmate. They keep meeting in her dreams and changing the location of their liaisons, I thought that was quite whimsical.

The heroine reminded me a lot of Sabrina. While we had lovable characters, the build up between the two of them needed more time. Their relationship was very insta lovey, which I wasn't a fan of.
Finally, the plot was a bit confusing. It grabbed my attention the minute I started reading but was kinda messy.

Beautiful and ethereal are the PERFECT words to describe this book from cover to cover. It delivers absolutely every aspect of the story with gentle precision, from the sage words of advice passed down to Milly from her mom who she lost at a very young age, to the incredible details of the dreamscape that Milly and the Weaver walk, to the absolutely perfect combination of witchy and cottagecore vibes.

Milly is inspirational as a lead. Her determination, resolve, and deep love for the people in her life and to see them safe and well sets her apart, but it’s her unwillingness to sacrifice her own wants, needs, and identity on the altar of selflessness that make her the strong, genuine, self assured heroine this story, as well as the world today, needs.

The Weaver was not what I expected at all and the sweetness of his love for Milly combined with his core fear of being alone made him as endearing as he was intriguing.

For being YA there were actually 2 spicy scenes in this book, and though both were very vague and fade to black they were still so passionate and beautifully written. They fit the overall visual and ethereal prose of the entire book perfectly while remaining tasteful and appropriate in their steaminess.

Parts of the story were certainly predictable but there were additional aspects of it that I did NOT see coming and that was a pleasant surprise! I loved how absolutely everything tied together in the end…it has been a while since a book left me with such a warm and satisfying close.

I just can’t say it enough, this book was absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a sweet, visual, immersive, artistic, witchy, romantic tale of solitude, longing, magic, finding love, choosing yourself, and defying the odds to save the one you love then look no further than this book right here.

A solitary witch, Milly is intrigued by the mysterious man that she finds entering her dreams – not just one dream, but all of them. In an attempt to identify him, she casts spells to draw him out and learn more. As more is revealed, she discovers that not everything is as it seems.

I love a good witchy read, but the writing and prose was a little stilted for me personally. I had a hard time in the beginning really getting a feel for the world and the setting. It wasn’t clear in the beginning what time period this was even written in. The writing was very cottage-core and very low/no-tech, but then there’d be a reference made to Twilight and The Mummy. It was just an odd disconnect.

Overall, I gave this a two star. It was okay. The plot and characters had a lot of potential, but they just weren’t filled out enough for me.

I really liked the concept of thos story. A girl goes to sleep and falls in love with a man who she sees in her dreams, and also wants to make him real.

Unfortunately this concept just didn't take off for me. I felt the whole time while reading that there was something very suspicious about this dream man, and this was due to the main character's own suspicion. She was seemingly infatuated with a dream man she was suspicious of, and against her better judgement kept going back to him. I'm not really sure this was what the author was trying to achieve. Also, Milly is a misfit loner who keeps rejecting her only friend who is trying to draw her out. I didn't find this to be quirky, but rather a red flag. I kept expecting this book to turn horror/thriller with the Weaver as a preditory villian, or with Milly as mentally ill. It might have used a little more plot conflict, I don't know. Despite the short 210 pages, I found the writing hard to get through as well.

Ultimately I found this story to have fallen short of what might have been a very entertaining and enjoyable storyline.

I really wanted to like this book. The concept of it was so unique and incredible. Sadly though, this book was a DNF for me.

I was completely lost in the beginning. We jump into the book at what felt like the middle, where Milly has already had multiple encounters with the Weaver and is already in love with him? I missed something and felt absolutely no emotional connection to either Milly or the Weaver. No buildup or emotion. I also found that a lot of the characters sounded and read the same. You know how when you read, you give the characters their own voices, well, for me, they all sounded the same. With some more development, this book could 100% be a five star read for me. I loved the concept of it.

This was a very quick, light read. The story itself had a lot of interesting concepts to it and overall, I did enjoy it.

My two complaints: Every character was very simply written with very little depth; The entire story was too fast paced.

I feel like Milly and the Weaver never really got enough character development to make them feel real. Milly obviously had more than the Weaver, who was always just gorgeous, mysterious. .etc. He didnt really have a personality.

Also, Milly was so wishy washy on everything. She was always suspicious of him followed by madly in love with him followed by suspicious of him. There was no build of of her emotions either way. She had the same issue when it came to the powers of the Queen. She didnt want it for so long and then just abruptly did want it.

It was a fun light and quick read but when looked at inadeptly, it needed more development

‘Weaver’ follows a young witch, named Millie, who is visited in her dreams by a mystery man, later revealed to be The Weaver. The plot follows Millie and Roarke as they travel through the dreamscape and defend it against hidden threats.

This book had so much potential, the dream walking concept is utterly unique. However, for me, it fell quite flat and was not what I was expecting. This book is very character driven not much happened in the plot. The world-building and characters could have been explored a lot more. The romance felt forced, I’m not a fan of the insta-love trope anyway but there was a severe lack of romantic chemistry. The book is very slow paced and in my opinion definitely needed more action.

Saying this, Millie was a strong protagonist and I loved the witchy vibes, I think this book has lots of potential, it just needed more action and world building to really make it stand out,

Weaver is a mystical fantasy novel about 19 year-old Millie. Visited in her dreams by a mysterious man, Millie begins her journey to unravel the mystery about him and the dreamscape. This was a quick read, I was able to start and finish it in a day. It is a young adult fantasy, and definitely felt a little young at times, but I enjoyed the story and was really pulled into it.

What happens when you fall in love with the man of your dreams? Magic... but is it good magic or bad magic? Milly consults her intuition and seeks guidance from her mother and the goddess to find out what, exactly, is going on in the dreamscape and how to achieve what she wants for herself in life. The narrative is light and sweet and easy, but with many profound nuggets of wisdom strewn throughout like stars in a constellation.

“The choice between love and magic is a dangerous thing” …

Milly is a 19 year old witch, living alone in the woods & practicing her plant magic. She’s only experienced romance in the pages of her books until a mysterious figure begins to show up in her dreams.

From dreams to reality, she comes to know this person as the Weaver, and he imprints on her soul.

This book was a fast paced young adult fantasy read. The descriptions really immersed you in the moment; grinding herbs, working in the garden, reading an ancient book.

Some of the conversations were a bit stiff/ awkward especially between Milly & her long time librarian friend Keelyn. I’m also not a huge fan of love at first sight/ sacrifice of self worth/time, but Milly does complete a character arc, so there is some redemption.

Now imagine your a witch living in a cottage surrounded by woods. You drink lavender mint tea and grow your own herbs. You take note of the magical hour before you cast. And you have a familiar named Jenks.

The Cottagecore, kitchen/green witch vibes were 10/10. The atmosphere of this book was EVERYTHING FOR ME.

Unfortunately, the characters were all flat. They didn’t have enough development for my liking. I never really got the background on Milly’s mother that I was looking for either. And the romance just wasn’t for me.

The dreamscape was an amazing creation but it needed a bit more in terms of explanation and the curse.

This was a really fast read and I would still recommend it to people who love witchy books.

The Weaver has such an interesting premise; girl takes hold of her own destiny using magic & determination to pursue the mysterious man she sees only in her dreams. However, I DNFed halfway through for several reasons:

-The author’s use of showing over telling makes it difficult to be immersed in the story. The characters are bland, the world building weak, the plot uninteresting. I did really love her cat, though.

-Annoying use of the word ‘sexy’ for the most absurd observances concerning the picture perfect-cookie cutter ‘male’. Even for a YA story, this would be considered irritating.

-There seems to be some editing issues, but as this is an ARC, that’s to be expected to some degree. I do hope these don’t slip by (the inclusion of a name that is introduced several pages later really threw me)

-Instead of a magic system, occultism is used. While I absolutely adore a good magic system, the use of occult spells, kitchen/hedge witchery is not something I enjoy reading, & I fully understand this is personal preference.

-The romance. Insta love bordering on unhealthy obsession, with a good dose of manipulation to boot. About halfway (where I stopped) the sex scene I instinctively knew was brewing but hoped wouldn’t happen came around. While not gratuitous, I definitely feel like the book is written for those chasing semi-spicy book themes.

I recognize & respect that different readers enjoy different books. I’m also thankful for the opportunity to review ‘Weaver’, even if in the end it wasn’t a book I enjoyed.

Weaver tells the story of Milly, a delightful, resilient, though perhaps a bit reclusive, young witch, and how she finds love with the mysterious Weaver, Roarke. The only catch? Roarke is a man from her dreams, literally. After noticing the mysterious man in her dreams repeatedly, Milly sets out to discover whether her dream man is real.
In the process of learning who the Weaver is, and what his intentions are Milly finds that Roarke has already begun to capture her heart. But once she opens herself, and her magic to her mystery man, she cannot help but notice strange, dangerous happenings in the real-world mirroring occurrences in the Weaver’s domain, the dreamscape. Despite her budding emotions, Milly realizes not all is as it seems and begins to wonder if Roarke is hiding the nature of their combined magic and bond from her…

Weaver was a delighting and quick and easy YA read. The intense cottagecore and neo-pagan vibes made for a surprising and wonderful read. This is the book I longed for as teen enamored with all things witches. Milly is a modern interpretation of the little witch living on the outskirts of town, tending a garden, and making magic in her cute little cottage. Her bookworm tendencies, kindness and appreciation for the natural world made her an endearing protagonist, even when she seemed to be buckling under the weight of her ordeals.
Milly’s familiar Jenks was adorable. He one of my favorite parts of the book, along with Keelyn, Milly’s older librarian friend.

On the other hand, I just could not see the appeal of Milly’s love interest, Roarke. He did not give any indication as to why he chose Milly, it seemed like it was just the strength of her power that drew him, not anything unique to her as an individual in terms of personality, and that was a bit disappointing. I also had a hard time seeing why Milly was so drawn to him, as Roarke was secretive, not telling her anything of substance about how they’re powers would work together, or what the repercussions of choosing to be his queen. In the end, I felt his character was just not strong enough.

Aside from that, my complaints are minimal. I adored the use of kitchen witchery as a magic system. I thoroughly enjoyed the world building, and frankly wish Weaver had been a longer read, as it would have given the opportunity to flesh out Roarke’s character, and the romance between him and Milly. Tish Thawer has lovely prose and managed to draw me into her world very quickly. I will definitely be looking forward to reading future books of hers.

I loved watching Milly grow as a character, her little cottage was adorable.

I think The Weaver had all the potential to be an incredible read.

Unfortunately it fell short for me, the magic system, dreamscape, Curse/"the rules", their relationship all could have been expanded on, to really immerse the reader in the story.

I felt like I was starting in the middle of a series, where I had misses the first two books.
I felt a little lost at the start and it really struggled to hold my attention.

First off I read this book in one sitting, it was a quick and easy read. I think it’s very character driven in that I loved Milly a lot and she is the main reason I was captivated by the novel. She is absolutely resilient and shows a significant amount of trust in herself that is both inspiring and admirable. I loved the battle of her heart and her mind as well as that subsequent merging of the two. She really said I’m going to follow my instinct but be smart about it.

Thawer not only created a fantastic heroine but her villain was so dynamically intelligent. I honestly wanted to see more from this. The book itself was a really great blend of fantasy with some surprising modernity. Bringing a sense of realism to the magic.

Weaver is fantastic paranormal/fantasy book full of herbal magic and cottagecore vibes.
I had been searching for an herbal magic book for awhile and this one delivered.
I was swept into Millys life of magic and gardening- something I also resonate with. The Weaver world was just as intriguing and magical and I loved the way Milly and Roake fell in love.
This was a quick read and well paced.
I am looking forward to reading more of Tish’s books!

I struggled with this one. The writing is a really awkward combination of telling instead of showing and an internal monologue that has no personality. And just wasn't for me. Thankfully I didn't find glaring grammatical errors.

This started out SO strong for me and it was totally my vibe. But after a while everything felt similar to other stories I’ve read and it wasn’t a standout for me unfortunately. I couldn’t even describe the love interest - he’s just too generic. I loved the witchy vibes but it needs a bit more work.
