This book conveys such a great message.

Breaking our existence down into dots. We are all the same generally speaking but also unique in our own special way.

I think this book sends that message in such a beautiful way.

I also loved the illustrations.

This is a great book for any age but I think is probably best for kids 4-8ish years old.

Thanks to Netgalley and Zonderkidz for a free digital copy.

You wouldn't think a picture book about DNA would work, much less be adorable, but here we are, and this book works and is so cute! I love the celebration of what makes us unique and what makes us the same.

What a beautifully inclusive book! The illustrations are colorful and diverse and the attention paid to rhyme makes it a great read for all ages down to my inattentive toddler!

A lovely children's book illustrating how at our core, we have more similarities than differences. It's important that we celebrate how we are different, but remember that we are all human and have much in common.

We loved the pictures. Started off with a great concept, but, really struggled trying to explain it to my five year old. Also, there's a brief mention of how we need to take care of the environment but I don't quite see how that fits into this book. Would be a fantastic second book but if this is about DNA then there's already so much to try to explain...

How great is this book! It has a nice rhythm and rhyme to make it great for read-alouds. The pictures are simple, colorful, and effective. The message is unbeatable: we are 99.9% the same DNA, so let's be kind. The book is full of examples diversity and how to meet each other's needs. It has good suggestions for kindness that are both mindset-based and actually do-able. I am ready to read it out loud in my school's library after it publishes!

This was an amazing book. The art is the kind that I wish was available for prints on the playroom wall. It was bright, engaging, and beautiful. I loved the way that this book simultaneously celebrates our differences and similarities as humans. This will be a regular in our home library.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

The Smallest Spot of a Dot is an endearing book on diversity! The illustrations in this book are beautiful, colorful, eye-catching, and the children are all diverse in this book. And should keep young readers' attention. I'd recommend this book to young children, as they first learn about genes. It's empowering to learn that, genetically, we are 99% alike and 1% different. It leaves us with a heartwarming message: we should be more accepting of others.

Thank you, NetGalley and Zonderkidz-Books, for a digital ARC for an honest review.

The Smallest Spot of a Dot is both whimsy and educational. Perfect for classroom use with young children as they first learn about genes and how to be accepting of others who may look different, but are made up of the same stuff they are! It highlights the similarities of living beings, as well as uniqueness! The art is beautiful and full of color- it will keep young readers captivated!

Thank you NetGalley for the review! I absolutely enjoyed this book and can't wait to put it on my classroom bookshelf.

“The Smallest Spot of a Dot: The Little Ways We’re Different, The Big Ways We’re the Same” by Linsey Davis is an amazing book it covers so many subjects. It wonderfully illustrated, the pictures in the book are so captivating, the colors are so bright and engaging at the same time, they make the reader feel like they included in the story. The wording just flows on smoothly and rhythmically through the story. The story is so eye-opening, wanting the reader to understand, that with all of these dots, we are all the same but different. This would make and wonder gift for anyone having a baby, so that they will understand how who we are and why we are different.

The Smallest Spot of a Dot is a sweet book on diversity! The illustrations in this book are colorful and eye-catching, and the different children are all so diverse in many ways. This book would be a great intro to a diversity lesson or culture lesson in the classroom and I think it would make a great addition to any home, school, or classroom library. I'm excited to purchase my own physical copy to share with my young students!

Thank you NetGalley and ZonderKidz for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

What a gorgeous tale of how we are all different yet are all made up of the same basic elements. We may look different but are all human. A beautiful, multicultural representation for children that explains in the most simple form what a gene is. The Smallest Spot of a Dot is definitely a book I will be adding to my classroom.

The Smallest Spot of a Dot is a really sweet books abut genes and how we are so much more alike than different. I liked all the diverse characters, and all the fun dots! It wasn't too science heavy, even if it mentioned DNA. It was like a warm hug!
