Thank you to Berkley Romance and Valentine PR for sending me an e-ARC of this book to read and review. I have mixed feelings about this book. On on hand it was a cute witchy rom-com with great spice and on the other, I feel like it was trying to hard to be a fantasy with little to no background info or clear world building. I knew going in that the spice would be top tier because I love Avery Flynn's other books so much. I liked this book, but it got a bit lost from time to time. There was a lot of info at points and there wasn't enough at others. I thought there was a sense of charm while reading this and not in the magic sense. I enjoyed the alternating POV's and I liked the inner monologues we got to witness as readers. The beginning was pretty slow for me and it took a while for me to really be invested in the characters and what was happening. The heist subplot was a delight and the action really fit well. Overall, this one was just a bit all over the place, but I did still enjoy what was happening.
