In “One Last Day of Summer”, four strangers become fast friends on a nine hour flight to paradise. What were they thinking as they boarded the plane while looking for their seats? Bernadette was still unsure about traveling alone, but she was definitely up for an adventure. Dex knew that searching for his one night stand was ridiculous, but what did he have to lose? Hayley was relieved that she didn’t have to sit with her arrogant husband on the long flight, and Tadgh was still troubled by the text he found on his brother’s phone and he was certain that this would be the flight from hell.

The majority of the book takes place aboard the plane which became a refuge for some and a confessional to others. As the minutes became hours and our travelers grew restless, I wondered what they thought their flight would be like compared to how it actually turned out. To me, it felt as if time flew by as the new friends shared stories, had a few drinks, and hoped that their time in paradise would be worth it. I was anxious for the plane to finally land to see who and what would be waiting for them. What would happen when the outside world comes crashing down around them? Dex and Tadgh were both in for a big surprise and Bernadette and Hayley realized they were kindred spirits who fate brought together.

I fell in love with all the characters and I just wanted them to be happy. During the trip, they each had time to reflect on what they really wanted out of life and who they wanted to be with. This was time well spent because when they stepped off the plane, love was in the air and all their wishes would come true.

This book is guaranteed to give 100% all the feels! 💜

There are 4 strangers, seatmates on a flight from UK to St Lucia. Each character tells a bit of the story, swapping chapters and voices for each character's part of the adventure.

It begins with Bernadette (my favorite). I adore her sarcastic wit!

"She'd slipped into a quiet life, a peaceful one, taking care of anyone who needed her, staying very firmly in her comfort zone. No risk. No drama. No unpredictability."

And Tadgh - the guitarist groom, full of broken hearts (his and everyone else's)

"...the kind of man he wanted to be... Someone who loved, who cared, someone who built a world around him and didn't think about his own happiness."

Then there's Hayley, married to her opposite, an outgoing dance teacher married to a high-profile doctor. Her rambunctious playlist is #goals

"If he could just love her. Right now. Right here. Just the way she was."

And finally, Dev. A sports journalist who is secretly a romcom writer. Dev is honestly the best person to be your plane seatmate. He proclaims, "his entire romantic history consisted of a few one night stands," until he suddenly decides to chase a woman to St Lucia: "the Cheryl of his dreams."

The delightful conversations and fascinating back stories make each of these four characters come to life in vivid color.

A perfect summer beach read.

Thank you NetGalley, Shari Low and Boldwood Books for the ARC of One Last Day of Summer. This is my personal review.
There are some books that can just take you away for a few hours and leave you with such wonderful memories of where you have been.
Four strangers sitting close together on a flight to St. Lucia. They all had a very different reason for being on that flight but the time frame they were on the flight will change them all forever.
The book was so perfectly written that before I knew it, I was at the end. What a wonderful way it was written.
Bernadette, Tadgh, Dev and Hayley will forever be on my mind long after I have read this book.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be adding the author to my must read list of authors.

“I honestly think sometimes, people are just put in the right place at the right time and there’s no way to explain it”.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fasten your seatbelts because what a great (plane) ride this book is! I’m always a fan of stories that happen in a single day, and this one comes with a group of lovely characters with backgrounds that keep you rooting for every single one of them since their first appearance.

This was my first Shari Low novel - but definitely won’t be my last. The author’s writing is an event by itself. Every chapter follows the highs and lows (or the turbulences, someone could say) in the life of the 4 main characters and Low’s way of capturing their feelings, hopes and fears is one of the things that make this such a touching novel. Even when it comes to darker themes, like domestic violence and abusive relations, there’s still hope, respect and compassion for victims in every single word.

Each of the characters have a construction that makes them believable even at their most improbable moments (like getting on an overseas flight to find a girl you only met once) and the funny thing is that the story itself and its characters know how unlikely things like this are outside fiction, so it’s easier to go with the flow and enjoy the jokes about the hopeful improbability of living a real life rom-com. The plot develops at a steady pace and brings the reader into the center of an entertaining but awkward situation that connects two of the main characters without their knowledge. I’ve read it all in a single day because it was impossible to put it down.

Full of laughs, tears and reflections about what we choose to do with our lives, One Last Day of Summer is everything you expect from a summer read: a fun, light and hopeful book that keeps you glued to the pages/screen from the very beginning.

Oh, I do love these books that are set over a period of 24 hours with four characters getting air time for 2-hour segments at a time.
Once again, the characters Shari Low created are unique and amazing. They have the most wonderful personalities; all four just gelled with one another once colliding on the flight.
We have Bernadette, who is trying to find herself once again after escaping a mentally abusive relationship. She just wants a quiet life, but when this holiday lands in her lap, she struggles with whether she should grab life by the doodahs and hold on for dear life or just curl up with a book and let it pass her by.
Tadgh is an interesting character. On the exterior, he is all rock God but a softie at heart. He’s trundling through the air to get to his wife-to-be. However, he receives some unsettling news before departure that could blow his life apart.
Hayley’s personality has been eroded away by her husband’s desire to have a baby. She has lost who she really is, and when she meets these crazy characters on this 9-hour flight, she starts to come alive again and rediscover what it is SHE wants.
Finally, we have Dev, the hopeless romantic. He’s bet all his money on this flight to find a one-night-stand that changed his life. But is he heading for yet more disappointment, and should he have seen what was already under his nose back home?
What makes these books so perfect is how all of the lives start to integrate and harmonise with one another. The characters in this book meet sooner than they have in the other of these books. However, that worked so well as when one chapter ended for one character, it seamlessly carried on from another’s perspective. It was very fluid and worked so well.
A thoroughly uplifting story of four strangers and, without a doubt, a five-star read.

Another great story from Shari Low.
Four strangers share a row of seats on a plane to St. Lucia. Each is heading to the island for different reasons, and each is either overcoming issue from their past or issues from the present. They all have things to work out, and find themselves bonding on the trip down.
Loved the characters, each with a unique problem that was completely relatable. I found myself cheering some on. Loved the story, highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Four people are on their way to St Lucia, sharing the premium-economy cabin.

Tadgh Donovan is with his brother and bandmate en-route to his destination wedding to his high-school sweetheart. However, a text on his brother's phone could derail the wedding.

Hayley Ford and her husband, a top fertility specialist, are destined for a two week holiday, hoping to get pregnant before yet another gruelling round of IVF.

Bernadette Manson is an A&E nurse, forced to travel solo after her best friend had to look after her daughter who had been injured abroad.

Finally, Dev Robbins has fallen hard for the girl he spent one night with after meeting in a nightclub. He's determined to follow her to St Lucia where she is attending a destination wedding.

These four strangers discover that they have more in common than they might have originally thought when they boarded the plane - but will their journeys be all they hoped?

This is just the sort of thing you want to read on the plane, full of hopes that you could make new friends on a seven hour flight, change your life, and get some free advice.

It might have been predictable, but it was fun and a good read.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The story
Four strangers sit in a row in Premium Economy on a flight to St Lucia that changes their lives forever. Fifty-ish A&E nurse Bernadette from Glasgow is travelling alone after her friend Sarah couldn’t come. Irish musician Tadgh is going to meet fiancé Cheryl to get married. Dev is chasing to find love and Hayley’s husband upgraded to first class leaving her behind.

My thoughts
I loved this really happy story about strangers that support and show compassion and love for each other. The Love Actually movie is mentioned in the story and it’s a very apt description of this story. Small treads that bind the strangers to each other, each with their own story but connected. It’s a fun, very real, story filled with hope and gorgeous energy. Love it!

This book was EXACTLY what I needed today!

For strangers, Tadgh (think TIE-g, Gaelic for Timothy), Hayley, Dev and Bernadette, sitting four abreast on a 9-hour flight to St. Lucia, it’ll be a trip they’ll never forget. Over the course of the flight, they discover that they are more alike than they are different and end up baring their souls to each other. For the reader, their challenges are relatable and the connections are instantaneous. I felt like I was sitting in the row behind them on the flight, privy to all the heartwarming and heartbreaking revelations. I cheered for them, cried with them and couldn’t wait to see what transpired when they arrived at their destination.

I’m not ready to say goodbye to any of these characters, so I hope there’s a sequel in the works. This was my first introduction to this author and I'm very impressed. I'd gladly read another of her books.

I was gifted this advance copy by Shari Low, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Another 5 star winner from Shari Low. One Last Day in Summer is set on a flight to St Lucia where 4 strangers seated together, get to know each other’s innermost thoughts. After all, what happens on a plane stays on a plane!

The story is told by the 4 characters and each chapter ends on a cliffhanger that makes you keep reading. In fact, I was so engrossed that I read this in a day!

Quite possibly one of my favourites yet. A real page turner.

Shari Low has done it again! One flight to St Lucia, four lives changed for the better and as soon as I came to the end, I just wanted to read the sequel!
We learn all about the characters backstory before the flight and we are rooting for Bernadette, Tadgh, Dev and Hayley - this is a lovely book and a perfect summer read!

Loved this. At first I thought having the book written from so many different perspectives would be confusing, but it wasn’t. All of the main characters were so lovely. It was a joy to read. Definitely lifted my spirits and made me feel good inside.

I always enjoy this author’s books and this one didn’t disappoint.

Four strangers meet on a flight to St. Lucia. At the end of the flight their lives will have changed forever.

Great story. Great characters. Loved it.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy.

This book follows 4 individuals who are traveling to St. Lucia and end up in the same flight row. We get their backgrounds prior to the flight and their unique stories as to why they are traveling. The story then follows each character during the progression of the long flight and how they may have similarities and connections that unite them. I really enjoyed reading this and watching the progression of each character and how they grow and find their own strength in different ways. I feel that another book could be written following up on each character and how they remain connected.
