This was such a fun Rom com with lovable characters and friendly competition!

This book is about Hallie who just turned 30 and after a night out, her friend decides to sign her up to run for mayor as her birth day present. Hallie is the towns librarian so she is intelligent and sees a need to chance in their small town and thinks a change in mayor is the thing that needs to be done to make a change. Fitz is a Montgomery and a Montgomery is always the mayor in Swan Cove. That is a fact that both benefits and frustrates Fitz. He wants to have people see his worth and not his name. When he sees someone is finally running for mayor with him he wants to make sure they have the best chance possible so he offers to help Hallie with her campaign. At first she is hesitant because she doesn't know his intentions, but soon she softens up and sees Fitz for who he really is.

This was a great read! I love how strong and fearless Hallie is and how sweet and caring Fitz is. I also loved the small town feels of this book and the friendly competition aspect. The side characters were also really fun. I recommend this read!

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts!

I usually like small town romances quite a bit, as well as the topoi where the almost enemies who become lovers although here the rivalry was almost absent. Unfortunately, however, everything else seemed rather boring and didn't entertain me as much as I had hoped.
Maybe I expected more love for the books or I don't know what else, but okay, surely that's my problem.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

This was a fun read!! It’s a small town romance with a bit of enemies to lovers and some politics in it. Fitz and Hallie’s chemistry was super cute and I loved reading the banter.

There were lots of messages throughout the story about loyalty, friendship, family and making your own way in life. I loved the lessons that both Fitz and Hallie learn throughout and it made you think about your own life and values a bit. I feel like they were both good characters that kept me smiling throughout the story. I found the pace a little slower than what I typically like and it seemed to jump a little from one event to the next without a lot of context. I would have liked a little more of the middle fluff pieces! Also, a bit more of Fitz and Hallie’s relationship growth to be seen in action rather than just thought about through one of their internal thoughts. However, with that said, I still enjoyed the read and would recommend it after it’s published.

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Hallie prefers to blend into the background, so when her best friend signs her up to run as the town mayor - a job that has always gone unopposed to a member of the Montgomery family - it's pretty much her worst nightmare. Except current incumbent Fitz isn't what she expected at all. He's not shallow or entitled, and he actually seems to like her. This election campaign is going to get interesting...
This is a really great set of characters. Hallie might not want to push herself forward, but she has sass and determination and learns from her mistakes. Fitz is nuanced: he knows how to use his charm, but he's also self-aware and highly conflicted about his family duty. The two of them together have fabulous chemistry: they have a lot in common, but also have character traits that complement each other. It's refreshing that the whole enemies thing isn't dragged out: they recognise their attraction to each other and actually do something about it, despite the campaign and politics and dirty tricks happening around them. There's heat, there's humour, there's a solid supporting cast, and all that makes this a fun four-star read. I've never read anything by this author before, but I'm off to check out the back catalogue.

This is a fun and sexy romantic comedy that totally charmed me. I loved the characters and how Hallie, the librarian, is challenged to move out of her safe path. Fitz is the current mayor, and son of the reigning family that owns most of the town. He also wants to change his path, but feels trapped. When they come together on mayoral ballot, both get more than they bargained for.

While filled with poignant moments, this book made me smile. If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.

The town librarian and the mayor. Small town vibes. Enemies to rivals / friends to lovers. Dual perspective. Yes please; sign me up!

Hallie woke up the day after her thirtieth birthday with an expected hangover. What she didn't expect? To suddenly find herself on the ballot to be the mayor, and not only that, but running against the small coastal town's most prominent family.

Fitz simply wants to prove himself, outside of being in what feels like a family dynasty. Someone in their family has always been the mayor of their small town. The last person he expected to attempt to run against him: the town librarian. He wants a fair fight, and he's willing to help level the playing field.

Hallie & Fitz find themselves on complete opposite sides... of everything. But the art of war gets more complicated when the rivals begin to fall.... for each other.

Read if you love...
- small town romance
- enemies to rivals / friends to lovers
- opposites-attract
- book references
- strong friendships
- banter & wit
- open-door
- dual perspective

This book was a delight. A quick & easy & bingeable book that had me laughing regularly.

I loved Hallie. Her job as a librarian, the regular book references, her stellar best friend group, how close she is with her family, all of it. She was very relatable.

I loved the way Hallie & Fitz found a way to be themselves despite the campaign and running against each other, their ability to argue / banter even when they agree on the topic, and the way they wanted what's best for each other.

I loved the way both Hallie's best friend group and Fitz's best friend supported, encouraged, pushed them to be better, and helped them grow as humans.

This is a fun small town enemies to lovers book. It follows Hallie the towns librarian and Fitz the town mayor, who outwardly appear to be complete opposites in every way but find out they are quite alike. I was completely hooked on this book in the first chapter.

Hallie is a smart bad ass heroine, Fitz is charismatic and completely irresistible, and their friends are extremely lovable and supportive.

I really enjoyed how much we got to learn about the main characters during their perspective POVs, the way Hallie and Fitz’s banter was not only funny but also intellectual, and I especially loved the way Fitz paid attention to all of the things that made Hallie who she is (I mean the cottage, come on 😭)
The only thing I can think of wanting to be a tad different would be that their enemy status lasted a bit longer.

Overall this was one of my favorite reads so far this year. This was my first Christi Barth book, and I cant wait to get into more!

Huge thank you to Netgalley and Entangled publishing for allowing me to read and review this book prior to its release! All thoughts and opinions are of course, my own.

When librarian Hallie unexpectedly runs for mayor, she realizes she may be in over her head… but she still wants to win against the incumbent, Fitz, who is only in the role because of his last name. As they get to know each other more, they realize they have more in common than they originally thought. I enjoyed that they became friends closer to the beginning of the story so they weren’t at odds the whole time.

I liked seeing how their characters developed, seeing how they dealt with some shady characters and some newly discovered secrets. A big part of the story was the support of their friends, which I loved. Overall, a really good story!

A fun enemies-to-lovers romance, the story follows Hallie and Fitz both of whom are running for mayor. Hallie is the town librarian. A reserved woman who loves her job, Hallie never expected to run for mayor, but she knows the town needs change. I like her determination and her courage. Hallie knows she probably won’t win, it that doesn’t stop her from trying to invoke change in her community. Torn between family duty and his own wants, as well as the needs of the town, Fitz goes through a lot over the course of the story, especially as he learns more about his family’s past and influence. He is so much more than the charming ladies’ man Hallie initially pegs him to be, and he proves it throughout the story.

Both Hallie and Fitz are well-developed, layered characters, and their romance is great. They have the opposites attract, enemies to lovers vibes going on, and the sparks between them really fly. They have great banter, and I love how they challenge each other while still respecting each other’s opinions. Though they don’t start on the best of terms, their relationship slowly builds into something special.

I also like the messages about honor, friendship (Hallie’s friend group is the best!), following your heart, and more. However, the ending felt a bit rushed, and some of the actions of the secondary characters seemed, well, out of character. Overall, it is a quick and fun read, and I’m thankful to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

An enemies to lovers story between two political candidates. Hallie is a local librarian who woke up the morning after her 30th birthday, hungover and selected to campaign as the next mayor by her friend. When Hallie goes to change the nomination she meets Fitz Montgomery, and his campaign manager who starts to trash talk Hallie as a "nobody" to the Montgomery name. Hallie decides to take the nomination head on and campaign against Fitz. As the race goes on an attraction grows between Hallie and Fitz. Will they risk the campaign to be together or will it all come crumbling down?...

Hattie On Her Shelf is a cute, fluffy beach read. I liked the steamy scenes, though there were not many. The attraction between Hallie and Fitz is adorable.

I did however skim a bit. There were some chapters when the pacing would drag. I didn't care too much for most of the secondary characters. There wasn't much development in their personalities.

Overall a fun and entertaining read you can finish in a day.

Hallie (a librarian) and Fitz (the mayor) are both set in their ways until Hallie decides to run for mayor. From enemies, to friends to lovers, they fight the weight of limits set by themselves and their families. It’s an adorable binge worthy story i couldn’t put down

I love rom coms where the main characters find themselves on opposite sides! If the author does the witty banter correctly, then it makes for an awesome story. This book definitely lives up to that. Hallie and Fitz are both running for mayor of their town. Fitz is already the mayor, just as his family has for several years. Hallie is the town librarian. As Fitz offers to give Hallie tips, they find themselves falling for each other, but must keep it a secret because of his family.

I loved this book! I already mentioned the banter, but the growth Hallie made in how she saw herself made this worth reading. Fitz also made a lot of growth in viewing what he wanted for himself. If you like politics mixed with steam and sweet moments, then this is the book for you.

"That had been his intent, always, to make her smike or laugh or ecstatically sigh. Fitz would never forget this moment with Hallie laughing. With the makeup lights putting an angelic glow around her head. It was the moment he realized where all this sappiness was coming from. Why it was gathering in a corner of his heart like tumbleweeds against a fence. Fitz had fallen for Hallie Scott."

Waking up after her 30th birthday, Hallie finds out she is running for mayor... thanks to her best friend taking her drunken remark seriously. Now Hallie is running against Fitz, a Montgomery in a long line of Montgomery's that have been mayors of Swan Cove. Neither of them expected an easy campaign, but falling for each other, and secrets made this more difficult than they could've imagined.

This book was a lot less angsty that I anticipated. They did bicker, but it didn't last long once they realized they're actually attracted to each other. Fitz and Hallie definitely had chemistry, it just didn't feel overwhelming and compelling the way you want a romance to be. There was a cute moment, curtesy of Fitz that any book lover would swoon over. I enjoyed the characters, Fitz was giving big feminist energy, and Hallie was headstrong and determined.

This book was far too short to give any real depth, and a lot of the dialogue between the two was cringey and felt forced at times. Worth reading if you're wanting a short book, with a bit of spice, and low angst.

Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and Christi Barth for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Hallie and Fitz seem the most unlikeliest couple, but somehow their differences complement each other. It’s a fun story with a lovely small town setting and interesting secondary characters. My only criticism would be that the ending felt a little abrupt - I wish sir had been more details about the election announcement and everyone’s reaction to it. I’d also have like to see Fritz’ parents get their comeuppance at the end of the book, It was an easy, enjoyable though and I will be looking out for more books from this author.

This book is perfect if you like small town vibes and friendly rivalries. The description initially got me, drunken 30th birthday shenanigans which resulted in the female main character finding herself on the ballot for mayor. While it was a little slow to start, I really enjoyed the main characters energy with each other. I felt like there were a few things left unresolved but overall is was a fun and easy read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hallie Scott expected a hangover from her thirtieth birthday and she did not expect to find her calm orderly life as swan cove’s head librarian to completely change overnight when her best friend added Hallie to the mayoral ballot because of one little remark and now she’s going head to head with the small coastal towns prominent prince Fitz Montgomery whose charm is about to get seriously checked all Fitz wants is to prove himself beyond being the latest in the unbroken line of Montgomery mayor’s nobody least of all Fitz expected the town’s cute as hell librarian to step up and run against him and Hallie’s definitely in over her head which is a problem since Fitz wants a fair fight
Totally recommend a really enjoyable romance book I totally enjoyed from start to finish
