Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
Let's just say that this book is really super easy for beginners, such as myself. The instructions are clear and is suitable for everyone. I will be using this for presents
Another origami book! What's so different about this book from others? This one really teaches the basic of paper folding. The kite form, and what can you do from that point on, Then move to more complicated move that requires unfolding, for example. This is an interesting book, made for children, so when adults read this with their children, everyone understand what needs to be done.
Fab litte book with lots of ideas. Origami can be tricky so good reference books are a key tool and this one is excellent.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me access to the book in exchange for my honest feedback.
This book does exactly what it says on the cover! It was easy origami for kids. I enjoyed working through it with my seven year old. And she enjoyed making things together. Clear illustrations and instructions. Recommend
Good explanation and simple steps to follow. However, the actual projects didn’t inspire me. I didn’t really want to make any of the projects, but that is probably personal preference. It may be perfect for someone else.
A great little book for beginners. The author teaches the reader four basic shapes: the kite shape; the collapsed square; the basic form and the collapsed triangle. Following each one there are several sets of instructions to create other shapes using them. It is well illustrated with easy to follow colourful instructions and a good selection of mainly animal shapes.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me view this book. It is as it says, super easy origami for beginners. It has a wide variety of animals to create with easy to follow directions to view and read.
I've been trying to get into origami recently and figured this book was a sign. I sort of enjoyed it. I liked how it really went over the types of folds and the different symbols that are used in the instructions, but I did still have trouble understanding some of it. I think it's just easier to visually see how some of the folds are done, which is why I thought it was cool that there's a video companion aspect (didn't see the videos but there's a link at the start). Also, I know this is a beginner's book, but I was disappointed with the origami projects presented since many of them looked very similar and slightly shapeless (in my eyes)
This book is so much fun! Loads of different things to make and the step by step instructions are so detailed with full picture guidance!
I struggled to follow the instructions in this book.
I needed more visual demonstrations and/or descriptions of what to do.
I think this is partly a 'me' issue and partly a book issue.
Overall, I did like the format and the range of projects available. I just wasn't able to make the most of the instructions.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me a free digital copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
Super easy origami for beginners is a really good book to get you in to the craft. I have learnt a new skill, and I recommend the book
Thank you so much for the advance copy!
This book is a wonderful introduction to origami for anyone wanting to dive in and make some cute things. There are a lot of wonderful little patterns and very clear images and instructions. Its easy to follow along with and there's a good chunk of useful information for different origami related learning. Really great book!
This helpfully illustrated book has loads of origami projects inside. Fold a penguin, a roosting robin, a chick or a dog, crane or sea lion and more. Buy some pretty paper, follow the directions and enjoy the results.
Follow the instructions in the blue boxes to know what to do. Also know that there is information on where to find the author in an on line video for additional help. She does everything possible to ensure success although it still looks pretty tricky to me.
If you have ever wanted to try origami, this book will help you to do so. Hope it goes well.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry, New Shoe Press. All opinions are my own.
This is a great introduction to origami! Having some experience with folding, I can see the value of the instructions in this book for those just starting out as well as for those of us who have done it before but are still at a basic level.
A straightforward introduction into origami. I found the instructions easy to follow and the pictures really helpful. I would have liked some more flowers and plants ideally but did enjoy attempting to make the birds and animals. This would be a great book for someone who is just starting out or curious about origami
Super Easy Origami for Beginners is a beginner friendly origami guide with tutorials by Carri Hammett. First released in 2011 as Origami 101, this reformat and re-release from Quarto on their New Shoe Press is due out 2nd Aug 2022. It's 160 pages and will be available in paperback format.
This is a very basic beginner manual. I liked the graphics and layout. Information is presented in straightforward easy to understand language and the format makes it easy to locate the info needed quickly. The sections are arranged around basic classic folds (kite, collapsed square, basic form, and collapsed triangle. Each tutorial builds on the information in the prior tutorials and by working through the book systematically, readers will build up enough of a skill set to move on to intermediate folding guides.
The book is lavishly illustrated throughout and the drawings & photos are clear and in color. There is an included explanation key for the folding diagrams at the back of the book. New symbols and folds are introduced in highlighted text boxes throughout with clear and easy to understand captions.
It also includes a glossary list of symbols. There are no supplies links or lists, but the necessary materials will be easily available at any big box store, stationery store, or online.
This is a nice addition to the crafter's library. It would also make a good choice for public or school library acquisition, makers' spaces, activity groups and the like.
Four and a half stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Super Easy Origami for Beginners by Carri Hammett. Just as the title says, super easy origami with easy to follow instructions and illustrations. Thinking that I will finally to be to get started in this craft...lots of cute projects.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
The perfect book for those who like to keep their hands busy- including children and adults. Includes instructions for all sorts of animals. A rather basic introduction
This origami book is very good and useful for teachers like myself, who can teach some interesting and easy origami to my tiny tots. Loved that this book taught me to fold paper with precision. Good for beginners who are learning origami.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and the author for this ARC.
People with a serious interest in learning the art of origami will find this book a fabulous resource. Beginning with simple figures in which each fold is meticulously explained in step-by-step instruction, drawings and photography of the completed figure, this book offers the best opportunity to learn the craft. There is even a website offered that has each fold demonstrated for the reader to follow in a video. The author give easy instructions on how to make practice paper from normal printer paper before using the more expensive origami paper. Each different fold is represented by a symbol on an instruction sheet. The author introduces each corresponding symbol when it is encountered in the figure. There is a list of the symbols and the page number its instructions are on in the back of the book. This information is also listed on a removeable bookmark that can be used to mark the symbol as you need it. This is an excellent instructional book.
