This is the first book in a new series. While I realize it takes some time to get to know new characters, the main character Delilah completely ruined the book for me. I question why it took so long for her fiance to leave her. This series is a hard pass for me.

TW: Murder, gun violence, drug use/description of withdrawal, mistreatment of the elderly

This was such a delightful start to a cozy series!

The characters were just what I'd want out of a cozy mystery, and I felt like I was invested in their lives and stories from the word go. Delilah is a really fun female lead, and her friendships with the other characters were just really sweet and enjoyable.
I want Auntie Biz to adopt me, and I think I may have turned into a heart eye emoji once or twice reading scenes with Detective Capone. Although I will say that the star of this story for me was Butterball, the slightly oversized orange tabby. He really had my heart. I mean, look at him on the cover - how could he not??

The setting was also really fun for me. My husband's family is outside of Chicago, so reading a story set in a small town that felt somewhat familiar to me made it even more fun.
Although I will say, I've been craving some classic deep dish pizza ever since I finished reading it about a week and a half ago. So before picking this one up, be warned that you will likely be wanting to eat about 10 pounds of pizza as soon as you're done.

Overall I would recommend this book to my friends and cozy mystery readers. I would say that the best way to read this book would be with a slice of deep dish pizza (I really wasn't kidding about that craving), but that would be too on the nose. So instead I'll say that it's best served with a cocktail and a cat at your feet.

Nice cozy mystery but, the main protagonist was unlikeable. The mystery was fairly straightforward with no twists. Food descriptions were good but the story was largely forgettable.

I absolutely love cozy mystery books. I was really excited to read this book especially because I haven’t read anything by this author. I really loved this book. As usual I always find myself trying to solve the mystery before I finish the book. This book was really good.

Thank you for an advanced readers copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy debut. I loved all the characters especially Rabbit.

At first I thought this will be another typical cozy set in small restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised.

As the story progresses we learn more about Delilah and her friends and family with very modern day problems of elder abuse and opioid addiction.

This is very entertaining read and I am ver much looking forward to the next book in this series to see what happens to Delilah and Aunt Biz and Det Capone.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my own opinion.

A good first in series cozy mystery book but needs some improvements.
The book was an enjoyable read and I’ll probably check if a second book comes out, but I wasn’t impressed with the main character. Fell that she was a bit spoiled and self-centered it was not till later in the book that that her character became a bit more understanding of other people. She seems to take her breakup of her three-year relationship without many emotions. Only when her aunts point out how bad her financial situation is she starting to show concern. I loved the aunt and the reactions of the ex-criminal who is trying to turn his life around.
It is fairly easy to determine the outcome. As a cozy mystery, light reading it deserves a four star.

A fun mystery with a touch of romance.

Definitely seemed to be written for an older audience. This made it a bit more charming though. I found the characters a little aged although they seemed to be in modern times, which made the story slow paced at times.

Overall, the characters were well written and fun to follow, the plot kept me invested, and the ending was an interesting twist. Everyone seemed guilty! I was expecting to be thrown for a loop, which I was, but not the one I expected. I appreciate that in a story. As for the romance, it was refreshing not having it be the focus of the story or have it take away from the mystery plot. Another bonus for me!

Thanks so much NetGalley for the ARC.

I thought the premise and backstory of this novel were really interesting. It seemed, however, that a lot of the relationship between Sam and Delilah were "backstory", but not enough was fleshed out to make me understand why they engaged or even dating. They had no zing.

The crime was good. I really didn't have any idea whodunit, which I would consider a win!

Also I didn't love the small narrative of Delilah complaining about how much she eats or squeezing into her clothes. It's 2022, can we find a new storyline other than fat shame?

Delightful! The first entree in s new cozy mystery series. I spent a wonderful evening, curled up with my own big kitty, devouring this book. An ambitious young woman who is trying to open a pizza restaurant in Wisconsin, gets dumped, finds love and a dead body with her aunt holding the murder weapon. Naturally, she has to solve the murder mystery. My thanks to NetGalley and the author for a complimentary copy of this book.

The first book in the deep dish series has developed a great group of characters in an interesting environment. There are some quirky characters and delicious food sprinkled throughout the pages. The tension between various individuals keeps you entertained and the murder mystery has you invested in the story … waiting to see who is guilty. There is a hint of a budding romance but it’s not over the top syrupy sweet. Overall, this was a fun read and I will definitely be returning to Geneva Bay, Wisconsin to see what further adventures await Delilah and the gang.

I thought this book was cute and quirky. The characters are realistic and the plot was clever. I must admit that a few of the twists had me stumped but as the story progressed it became clear who the culprit was. It's a wonderful whodunnit.

Geneva Bay, Wisconsin, former vacation home to many a 20s and 30s gangster - a new upper crust pizza restaurant bankrolled by Sam, Delilah's fiance. Opening night - everything is ready, until it isn't. Sam vanishes and he holds all the money. And then the unthinkable - a murder occurs on the restaurant property and Delilah's great aunt is found holding the gun. Heading the investigation is Capone (yup, that family of Capones!). Butterball, the portly cat, is one of the lead investigators.

This is the first in a series, "Deep Dish Mysteries." We meet a lot of characters, some of whom will undoubtedly show up in subsequent installments. This was an enjoyable cozy mystery.

3.5 stars = Good +

This is a fun cozy series kick off in a lovely setting with a great cast. I enjoyed the pizza angle (the book includes recipes), and the mystery. I would read a sequel.

I really enjoyed and would recommend this new series to anyone who likes cozy mysteries and foodie cozy mysteries! Delilah is opening a new deep dish pizza restaurant in Wisconsin, and their soft opening night is ruined by the murder of her elderly aunt's caretaker. The characters are well drawn, there are several red herrings, and overall, the mystery was good. This is a promising start to a new series!

Six Feet Deep Dish Earns 5/5 Spicy Sauces…Entertaining, Delish Fun!

Delilah hoped the soft opening of her new restaurant would be perfect, however a sign malfunction, break up with her fiancé, and the murder of her great-aunt’s caregiver says otherwise. Her Auntie Biz, a staunch supporter, had complained about Jeremy’s absence when she needed him during the gathering along with being ignored by the head waiter and how red Delilah’s cheeks were from too much alcohol. But, when Jeremy does show up, he suggests they head outside for some fresh air. Delilah loved her Auntie Biz dearly. She’d been the one whose patience and talent in the kitchen ignited Delilah’s own love of cooking. But memory issues, phobias, and physical ailments were becoming increasingly worrisome and problematic. And now, finding Jeremy dead and her great-aunt holding a gun puts her, the restaurant, and her aunt in jeopardy.

Mindy Quigley’s premiere book in her Deep Dish Mystery series is outstanding filled with endearing friends, flawed romance, a cantankerous aunt, cheese-loving feline, a mobster’s great-grandson now detective, ex-con dishwasher, and plenty of food talk. The victim was a surprise since two others also seemed worthy of a taste of karma. The investigation, however, became very engaging exposed some disturbing details about the victim, interesting connection, several suspects with intriguing motives, and some surprising discoveries. Mindy’s wit and humor was just one more ingredient in this delish drama along with incorporating issues with the elderly and their care and some fascination details from Mrs. O’Leary’s cow and Al Capone to bootleg days. The mystery hit all the best elements with twists, perilous predicaments, and a surprise arrest with a shocking motive…I didn’t see that coming! The eclectic group of friends and family, good guys and bad, two legged and four-legged alike added to this special addition to the cozy genre. Mindy’s writing style was descriptive and the dialogue did well to illustrate the multi-generational personalities. The recipes are presented with a witty narrative along with detailed insights, instructions, tips, and suggestions to enjoy Delilah & Son’s Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, Daniel’s Emergencia Médica Cocktail, Auntie Biz’s Pissaladière, Auntie Biz’s Orange Supremes with Fennel and Arugula, Deep Dutch Pizza, and Red Hot Mama Pizza. Another candidate for the Top New-to-Me Read of 2022.

A solid start to a new cozy mystery series. Delilah is working to open a new deep dish pizza restaurant when she and her aunt become suspects in a murder. It has all the pieces of a cozy mystery, plenty of red herrings, an amateur sleuth trying to clear herself or a close friend/family member, no graphic violence, etc. And it has the secondary characters that make you want to come back for more.

Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

What a fun new cozy! Meet Delilah and Sonya of Delilah and Son’s Chicago style pizza, where chaos is prohibited and fresh flavors are the real deal. Starting a new restaurant is no easy endeavor, even if you’re a skilled chef with a talented and supportive staff. Unfortunately, opening night is overshadowed by a not so mysterious death with Delilah’s somewhat frail great-aunt Elizabeth (Biz) as the main suspect, however unlikely, that might be. Naturally, Delilah and her crew are not going to let Biz stay at the top of Detective Calvin Capone’s list. The characters are extremely engaging, the story moved at a good pace with plenty of clues and red herrings, PLUS there are recipes for food and drink at the end of the story courtesy of Delilah, Sonya, Aunt Biz and Daniel.

Delilah O’Leary can’t wait to open her new gourmet deep-dish pizzeria in Geneva Bay, Wisconsin—a charming resort town with a long history as a mobsters’ hideaway, millionaires’ playground, and vacation mecca. Engaged to a hunk with a hefty trust fund, Delilah is poised to begin a life that’s just about as delicious as one of her cheesy creations.

Just before opening night, though, Delilah’s plans for pizza perfection hit the skids when her fiancé dumps her and leaves her with a very large memento from their relationship—Butterball, their spoiled, plus-sized tabby cat.
This book was a cute and quirky story that has me waiting for the next one to come out. I found Delilah a fun character one whose mind has a intrigue for murder. I had the killer pegged from the get go only to find out I was wrong the turns that she took from the story line were amazing! She has made a nice little family out of her friends and her restaurant is a great success. I think this series has great promise.

Delilah is nervous about her restaurant’s soft opening, checking and rechecking everything. The one thing she has left up to her partner, business and romantic, is ordering the sign for Sam and Delilah’s Deep Dish Pizza; but when it finally shows up with an interesting error, it sparks an argument that leads to Sam walking out. As the soft opening proceeds Delilah gets moderately plowed and, when a water/bus boy is obviously flirting with customers instead of doing his job she storms out front to fire him only to find her great aunt holding a gun and standing over a body. When it becomes clear the detective assigned to the case suspects frail Aunt of murder Delilah springs into action to find the real murderer and clear her aunt.
This has all the ingredients for a cozy mystery - small town, amateur sleuth, handsome detective, cute cat and good friends - and actually has a “real person” type as our female sleuth is not a trim size 2 but a healthy size 16ish with curves. Delilah also is a super A type with some anger issues and within the first few pages I wondered what the basis for her relationship with Sam ever was since she is so driven and obsessed with perfection in everything and he is way laid back. Her personality made it a bit hard to get invested in the book to begin with but all-in-all it is a quick, pleasant read with a satisfying conclusion so I will be checking out the next entry in the series.
