Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The lovely cover on this book depicts 3 silhouettes against the sea and this forms the backbone of the relationship between Hank, Honey and Seth: they meet on early-morning walks on the beach and their relationship grows against this background. They have their own experiences of life and this shaped them into very different individuals who have become set in their ways. The author writes prosaically and perceptively about their interactions and behaviours, it's very realistic. It is a slow read because it gives the reader a lot to think about and absorb. I found it engaging and absorbing, and I wish other readers would give this unusual book a try as I think it's clever and insightful.

I was drawn to this book by the synopsis however I felt disappointed. It was quite rambling. The main issue I had with it however was that, (as a woman of 63,) I felt that portraying a character as Old at 63 went against the grain for me and turned me off. Not all people in their sixties feel like they are past the best years of their lives!

This got bogged down in details that added little to the story. I liked the overall message about human connections in old age, but it got lost due to the slow pace and minutiae.

I think I was hoping for something along the lines of a Rachel Joyce but it failed to deliver. The opening chapter pretty much sums the whole thing for me. Rambling and fairly pointless.

I gave up on the book in the second chapter. There was too much rambling dialog. Nothing to draw your attention and make the reader want to know more, quite boring actually. Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing a copy of this ebook for an honest review.

I thought this would be a book I would enjoy. I only pick books to read that I think I will enjoy. I guess that is true for everyone, except those in school that have to read when they do not want to. So, having stated that, I will say I was wrong. I love stories with older characters, and the summary states "In their advanced years" and goes on to talk about the plot of three people that will populate this book.

While reading, I find one character is 63 years old. What? Is 63 advanced years? Not in my opinion. Okay, I kept reading, even though this book was not holding my interest. It is the story of three people dissatisfied with their lives, a lot of complaining going on.

At 18% I stopped reading and started reading another book, which immediate had my interest and I finished in two days. I then went back to this book, and started reading again, and came to the conclusion that life is filled with things I have to do, and continuing to read this book is not one of them. I stopped at 20% read. I am sure that there are readers that will enjoy this book, but it is not for me. Every book is not for every person.

I want to thank Atmosphere Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC. ***I will not be posting my review to websites since I did not finish the book.***

This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Friendship and making a life after love…I just could not get into this book…others might.
