Sweet and cute this is a perfect beach read. I felt the characters were a bit immature, but this was a good take on the Romeo and Juliet story.

Would read more from this author in the future as I liked her writing style.

This retelling of Romeo and Juliet (with a happier ending) has two families - the Machados and Hatfields somehow booking the same Nantucket house for the same week in the summer. Despite being rivals, they ultimately agreed to split the house so neither family had to give up their vacation. Ryan and Evita are both on vacation with their families, but neither one is aware they both had crushes on each other back in high school. Will those feelings come back now that they are forced to be in the same house? Or will the family rivalry keep them apart?

For some reason this romance did not connect with me. The story itself was cute and had a fun premise, but I didn’t feel the chemistry between Ryan and Evita. I did enjoy the family dynamics in the story. Evita’s family in particular seemed like a lot of fun! The way the rivalry played out between the two families was very entertaining and was a great addition to this story.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Dreamscape Media for the advance copy.

I have read Ginny Baird before and really enjoyed her stories. This one was just not for me. I felt like the parents were immature, holding a ridiculous grudge against each other and did not set a good example for their children.

I know this is fiction, but you had to really stretch your imagination to believe people would really treat each other the way they did.

I hope the next Ginny Baird book is one I will enjoy more than this one.

Right Girl, Wrong Side by Ginny Baird is a modern Romeo and Juliet retelling but with adults and no deaths. Evita and Ryan's mothers have a feud aging back to high school. Both families are forced together for a week by a misunderstanding. This one has cute elements, the family aspect, and the beach setting. I loved seeing Evita's family being unapologetic about being themselves. I loved seeing Ryan and Evita form a united front. Overall, a good read.

When a mixup leads to rival families being double booked at the same vacation rental, tempers rise, while sparks fly between two from opposite sides.

These two families could not be more different - one quiet, small and reserved, one bursting at the seams with noise and family members. When you’ve seen the Romeo and Juliet dueling families vibes a lot, you hope that there’s something to make it stand out, but it took a long time to get where it needed to go, and the conflict was hard to justify between grown adults. I understand that the trauma was generations in the making, but it fell flat for me. The romance also got lost in the chaos.

One thing I found strange was the over explaining of Twister and the Macarena. Am I just old? At best, it seems like future proofing, but I worked with small kids who loved Twister and the Macarena, and didn’t need any prompting to what either are.

Overall, I still had fun, but I wanted more from this read.

This was such a fun twist on Romeo and Juliet plus seaside edition! It was a fun second chance romance with blended families and forced proximity. A really great and fun trope!

Sadly, this book was a disappointment for me. I just couldn't connect with most of the characters and the main romance felt lackluster and almost like a second or third thought most of the time. Most of the characters were immature and petty to an extent that annoyed me rather than humored me. I have no confidence that this couple lasts at all.

RIGHT GIRL, WRONG SIDE By Ginny Baird

Busy flower shop manager Evita Machado can't wait to get to Nantucket. With a bad breakup behind her, relaxing at the shore with her folks and her brothers and their families sounds like the sure cure for heartache, and their vacation destination looks like an amazing place! But when they arrive at the quaint rose-covered cottage, another group has already put down stakes: the Hatfields.
Ryan Hatfield was Evita's former crush from high school, but their business rival moms refused to let them date.

😊What i liked -

✔ Opposites Attract/Vacation Romance/Second Chance/Rom-Com
✔ Evita is a peppy sunshiney girl to Ryan's more introverted caring guy.
✔ I absolutely loved how loud Evita's family was.
✔ There were quite a few funny incidents that made me laugh out loud.
✔ This book gave me a full Romeo Juliet feels but with a cute happy ending. It's full of laughs, family antics and warmsies.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ I enjoyed the book for the family drama but in all this the romance between Evita and Ryan got lost.

📚Who Should read :
👶Beginners
💝Romance Lover
💕Second Chance Romance
💞Clean Romance

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this book, but I ended up really liking it. The entire premise was well done and the execution was good. I loved how it had a little bit of family drama and that you get to see the family grow, especially the matriarchs. Is the reason they're fighting to begin with stupid? Yes, but I think that's the point. But overall, I loved the second chance of this romance and I liked getting to see these two together.

What happens when an accidental double booking forces two archenemy families to live together in the same rental cottage? The short answer is: chaos. Evita and Ryan haven't seen each other since high school...since their respective moms stopped them from dating each other. But sparks fly again when their families are forced to share accommodations for a week.

The story itself isn't bad, but it's nothing exceptional. The adults come across as very immature, so you have to suspend disbelief to go along with the over-the-top shenanigans. I had a hard time believing this long-standing rivalry between Evita's mom and Ryan's mom. Additionally, Evita and Ryan came across as much younger than their 28 years of age. It honestly felt like they were still in high school. I think this book would have been better off as a young adult romance.

Overall, not a bad story. The writing is good and there is character growth. But it just doesn't feel like I read an adult romance.

Let me start by saying this book might not be for everyone. Personally, I found myself really enjoying the Romeo and Juliet vibes of the book. I love when there’s some sort of feud between families, it adds so much drama.

I love a good multicultural romance and I honestly think this one was written in such an incredible way. It was super entertaining and lighthearted at times, I found myself giggling throughout the book so much.

Evita and Ryan might not be the most developed characters, but I still found myself so invested in their relationship. I loved Evita’s Puerto Rican family and the feud between their mothers. Yes, the book can be super silly and ridiculous at times, but it was the perfect book to read for some giggles.

The book did get repetitive and dull at times, that was my only critique of the story itself. I think the plotline was well done for what it was. Is it the absolute best romance? No, but it’s definitely an entertaining one.

I would highly recommend reading this book without not knowing much. It’s definitely a binge-worthy thriller. In this one, we follow three identical triplets who kill their boyfriends - how freaking insane. They all work together and help each other get rid of the body, evidence, and of course, commit the crime.
“stay-up-all-night” kind of thriller. It was fun, unique, and a wild ride of a thriller. I would highly recommend checking it out.

Welcome to a modern-day Hatfield and McCoys.

When their families are forced to share a beachside vacation home, Ryan and Evita, who had been high school friends, reunite. Despite apparent affection on both sides, their mothers' enduring animosity pushed them apart. Ryan and Evita reconnect as they try to quell the family drama.

This was a sweet, clean, and cozy romance with lots of laughs and a focus on family. I liked both Ryan and Evita and most of their family members, but I hated their mothers. I know! I know! You are supposed to hate the mothers. However, they are so utterly ridiculous that they took me out of the story. I wish their backstories had been different. I had a hard time believing in their rivalry. Despite this, I smiled a lot and liked Ryan and Evita together.

I did this one on audio and ebook, and I was disappointed that while the book had dual POVs, the audio only had one narrator.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh so many times.

Ginny Baird took such a common and overdone story trope and made it feel fresh and different.

I also really liked that it wasn’t an enemy to lovers story between Evita and Ryan, more with their families. They had been friends in school and liked each other but their families pulled them apart. I loved seeing them finally get to be together and not feel pulled in different directions by their mothers.

The epilogue covering the entire family made me so happy.

Right Girl, Wrong Side is the 2023 offering from busy author Ginny Baird. This delightful romcom brings in shades of tales about feuding families from the Montagues and Capulets to the Hatfields and McCoys. Lissette Machado and Daneen Hatfield have been enemies since high school when they both ran for class President and Lissette won. From that point on the rivalry had been bitter at times and spilled over on to their offspring when Evita Machado and Ryan Hatfield were in school together and the feuding mothers did all in their power to keep them apart.

As a result of a fundraising silent auction, Lissette Machado is thrilled to be taking her extended family on a weeklong vacation to Nantucket and a large beachfront home that will accommodate all ten of them. Daneen Hatfield is equally thrilled to be taking her family of four to a large beachfront home on Nantucket also won in the silent auction. The problem is, it is the same house! And here is where the comedy begins.

This is such a well written tale! It is written with so much laugh out loud humor but yet with the heart needed to capture each of the strong willed women and their equally strong offspring. I very much enjoyed this book as I have with every book I have read by Ms. Baird, and I do recommend it!

A sweet second-chance rom-com.

Right Girl, Wrong Side was not only a second chance for Evita and Ryan but also for their families.

Evita and Ryan had mutual crushes in high school, but the rivalry between their families made their relationship forbidden.

That same rivalry brought everyone together for a week at the beach after a mistake in a bidding war. Ryan and Evita immediately felt the same sparks and spent the week trying to bring their families back together.

Right Girl, Wrong Side was sweet, funny, and endearing. I enjoyed the dynamics of the loud Machado family. The book shared a good lesson about being proud of who you are and loving those around you for their perfects and imperfections.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for a copy of the book to review.

I love the concept of this book - two parents who hate each other based on history and two adults children who want to explore their feeling but can't because their parents can't be adults and be friends

Evita and Ryan have liked each other since high school but their parent hate each other and wouldn't allow them to be together
so what a happy chance that both their families have booked the same cottage for a summer getaway
While they have to spit the cottage in half so that they can both enjoy the vacation who no fighter

All their parents do is fight over beach chairs, the BBQ, the kitchen - everything and Evita and Ryan just want to spend time together

The antics in this romance are out of control but made for a good Rom-com - I enjoyed this book and was rooting for Ecit and Ryan

The ending is super sweet and so worth everything they went through to get there

REVIEW FOR RIGHT GIRL, WRONG SIDE

⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars

Thank you to @netgalley, @sourcebookscasa and Ginny Baird for the gifted copy!

This was a cute, clean romance. Sometimes I struggle with clean romances not because I feel every single book needs open door scenes to be good, but I feel like those open door scenes leads to those tension moments that cause the characters to lead more with emotions. However, when done right, I think clean romances can be just as fun. With that being said, I felt this book was less of a romance and more of a family fiction that resulted in a romance.

𝕊𝕐ℕ𝕆ℙ𝕊𝕀𝕊:
Two warring families learn to vacation together when a raffle prize goes wrong and they are both told they won. As the house becomes divided, old feelings creep up between the Garfield’s son Ryan and the Machado’s daughter Evita. As they navigate their forbidden romance, the history of the feud comes to light.

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕀 𝕃𝕀𝕂𝔼𝔻:
• inspired by Romeo and Juliet minus the death lol
• interesting premise
• loved seeing the different family dynamics
• the cover was fun and colorful!

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕎𝔸𝕊ℕ’𝕋 𝕄𝕐 ℂ𝕌ℙ 𝕆𝔽 𝕋𝔼𝔸:
• the feud was SO SILLY. Like SO SILLY
• sometimes the dialogue felt a bit juvenile, but that could be a result of the ARC. Regardless, it was a bit cringe at some points

𝕆𝕍𝔼ℝ𝔸𝕃𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊:
Cute, fun and flirty! I’m not sure I would continue reading the series as overall the characters were kind of meh, but it was a fun ride!

The Hatfields and the Machados! A rivalry born in high school over a misunderstanding and a class president win. Now those two women have families and they are also business rivals who happen to have won the same vacation rental in Nantucket on the same weekend. Trying to salvage the mistake they split up the house and try to enjoy themselves.
But Ryan Hatfield and Evita Machado, two of the children who are now in their late 20s who were forced into a Romeo and Juliet situation due to this feud are rekindling a romance and an attraction that never went away from their high school days.
Their families have to confront some boundary issues and truths about their relationships before this weekend is over. And that epilogue!

This was so cute and such a fun vacation stay with two very different families and seeing how they spend their free time.

Thank you sourcebookscasa for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

A high school grudge over a school election carries through decades in this Romeo and Juliet styled story. Evita Machado (not McCoy) and Ryan Hatfield were sort of friends in high school as lab partners, but the feud between their mothers meant there was no chance of pursuing a relationship. A vacation rental gone awry results in a double-booking and the two families are forced into proximity on their Nantucket vacation. A serious of petty, selfish and possessive actions from the elders in both families result in ratcheting up of tensions; the kids just want to all get along, and Ryan thinks Evita is still pretty cute.

While the relationship building is charming and the cultural details wonderful, the cringey behavior of the parents made this a tough read for me to get through.
