3.5 Creepy, intriguing and packed with action. Even if you think you’ve figured it all out, the journey is worth it. The storyline, ending and character development all allow for a promising sequel. I hope the author is considering it.

Trigger warning: gore
Thank you to netgalley for giving this ARC, and this does not influence my review. The book was a thriller/paranormal book with a funny relatable FMC (she was hilarious). This book gave an inside look at an orphan’s life, the FMC was relatable and hilarious (no bs). Great writing style, loved the new chapter format.
Romance wasn’t really a part of the story, but for me the plot wasn’t enticing enough.

Ok this book is just not for me. It took a very long time for me to get through this. That being said, it was written quite well, and I know it will have a big audience. I just could not connect, may be a case of good book wrong time for me.

this was a unique take on the horror genre, I enjoyed going through this journey and learning the dark secrets of Rags. The characters worked well in this universe and they felt like real people. It was overall a great job in telling the story and creating this universe. I look forward to reading more from Ty Drago, as I enjoyed reading this book.

"But I raise my chin and face him head-on. “No, listen to me. Rags and me have a… connection. It started last night on the beach, and it’s only gotten stronger since. Maybe that’s what the blood’s about. I don’t know. But what I do know is that you two can’t handle it. I’ve seen these Bernard dudes up close, and, believe me, you can’t. They’ll kill you. Then maybe they’ll kill all of us. The cops can’t help. Lawyers can’t help. Family Services won’t do nothing but reassign every kid under this roof. You both know that!”
