Just finished reading this in a small group. What an amazingly blessed experience! Everyone who takes the time to not only read, but think about and put into practice what the author shares, will see a very positive difference in their faithwalk in a short amount of time.

A great book about the fear of the Lord. This book is written in 42 small chapters so it can be read in smaller daily portions. At the end of each section are some questions for reflection as well so could be used as part of a daily quiet time.

"Embracing godly fear as our most prized treasure empowers us to remain under submission to truth, and in so doing, it keeps us on the path of life, which brings remarkable rewards."

"The love of God draws us to Him; the fear of God keeps us from the evil that seeks to destroy us."

"A person who truly fears God abounds with joy."

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

John Bevere never disappoints with any of his books. He is an excellent writer and although I do find his books a bit “dense” at times, they are filled with Godly wisdom. and The Awe of God was no different.

I love love love Lisa Bevere, so I was so excited to read this book by her husband. This was a well-done bible study that I learned a lot from. This book really helps you understand the Fear of the Lord and the love of God. I read this solo but would love to share it with my bible study and use read it in a group setting.

Fantastic. I would highly recommend to church groups, pastors, small group leaders, anyone. An updated teaching on what used to be called "The Fear of the Lord." So pastoral, so fantastic. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed learning from John Bevere on the Awesomeness of God. This was a good Bible study. I would like to read it again more slowly, because I think it had a lot of meat that would be great to review again.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson publishing for an early release of the ARC.

The Awe of God: The Astounding Way a Healthy Fear of God Transforms Your Life written by John Bevere is an interesting take on a devotional format covered over six full weeks (seven days each week) to take you on a journey into a deep dive of what it actually means to fear God and how that looks like, and how it's different than regular anxiety ridden fear that the bible distinctly tells us not to do, 365 times as I'm sure you've been told. John Bevere's format is interesting in that it's not a typical devotional in that it's a bunch of topics that are randomly put together, or even same topics strung together, but instead is an idea that is expanded upon day after day and week after week. He ends each day with five tools that are passage, point, ponder, prayer, and profession, and are to help you not just breeze over the information provided, but to really dig deeper to understand that days topic. I did not journal during this reading as I was more interested in trying to get my review done, but will go back and really take the time to sit and journal through the book. While it's informative, nothing is too far scholarly that you feel lacking. Instead, you gain more knowledge after reading this, which is the point. Highly recommend it.

This is a review for Awe of God, by John Bevere.  Rarely do I say that this is one of the most important books I have ever read relating to my Christian life, but guys, this is one of the most important books I have ever read period!!!  I have read it, but am going to go back thru it so I can really study what God is saying thru John!!  Wow!  This book is so well written, easy to understand, filled with scriptures, and so many personal applications that I will be using it for a long time coming!  This has become my new reference book as well!  It has so drawn me close to God, and taught me about the awe of the Lord, and how to properly fear God, not be afraid of Him, but how to properly revere Him, how to live a life of holiness, and after reading this book, I truly stand in awe of Him now more than ever!  God used it to bring some gentle, but much needed, correction in my life, which brought life-changing repentance, which drew me even closer to my King!!!  I give it 5 out of 5 stars honestly!

If you love Jesus, but aren't sure how to really fear God, and live a holy life that truly pleases Him, and helps you fall even more in love with Him than ever, then this 6 week, daily guide is your book!  It is for every Christian no matter where you are in your walk!  It has helped me to understand who God is, how He sees me, and shows me thru the Bible, what kind of intimacy and relationship He truly longs for with me, and with all of us.

I've been a Christian for many years, and I believe this book is needed now more than ever as we seem to be moving away from holiness and properly fearing God, to a relationship based on what we feel or what is important to us!  It's like this:  growing up, I had a wonderful dad who loved me, but I knew that if I did something that I shouldn't do, I knew in my dad's love for me, there would be serious consequences if I chose to do wrong!  I knew my dad loved me, but I had a healthy fear of crossing him, because I knew that he would have to discipline me if I broke the rules.  I wished it always kept me from doing bad things, but it didn't, but my point is I wasn't afraid of him, but had a healthy fear of him, and wanted to follow the rules to stat out of trouble, but because I also loved him and wanted to please him.  Dad was my champion, provider, and loved me so very much that he taught me right from wrong so I could live an abundant and successful life knowing there would be consequences for sin!!  It's the same way with God, as John Bevere explains all throughout his book, and it really helped open my eyes to some wrong thinking I had, places where I had been compromising my relationship with the Lord, places where I was allowing my feelings be my guide instead of God's word, and the Lord  gave me John Bevere's book as a guide on how to go to Him, and restore what has been broken and missing in my relationship with my Lord!

So please consider purchasing and going through this wonderful book, and I pray that God will use it to touch you and draw you closer to Him, but also correct as He did me, and all because He is such a loving Father who wants intimacy with His children, and wants those children to live a life of holiness because He is holy, and because that is the true way to living a satisfying life - in the awe of God!!

I am in AWE of this book! John Bevere helps you dive deeper into your relationship with God by helping you understand the Fear of the Lord. "The Awe of God" is an easy read that will help you better understand the depth of God's love for us and what our proper posture should be towards Him. I love the book's format and how it can be read individually or in a group setting. This is an excellent option for a book club or small group setting. I'm just warning you: This book will challenge and transform your thinking. It will lead to repentance and renewal, as it has done for me.

This book has taken my relationship with Father God to a deeper, more intense level. It is a must-read for all Christ-followers, but especially for those in a leadership position within the church. If you are looking for your next book study for your small group or on your own, this is the study your group will be talking about and sharing with others. Truly Holy Spirit inspired!

You need to read this book! I believe that most of us have a flawed idea of the fear of the Lord. Reading this book, will correct that. This book refers to it as Holy Fear. Consider the teaching in this book a starting point. The book is full of examples from scripture and real life. Many of the verses I recognized, but I didn't fully understand them before reading this book. I found the book encouraging. This first reading was straight through, next, I plan to dig back in and read it as the iauthor recommends, slowly, in segments.

This is a deep book and worth taking your time reading and studying through. After reading the first few chapters I paused so I could soak it all in. There were a lot of thought-provoking ideas touched on in the book. There are many things to take away with you but understanding the fear of the Lord vs being afraid is probably the idea that will help you the most. I would consider this a study book and suggest taking your time processing the materials presented. You may not agree with all that is written but studying some of the principles will help you see a different way at looking at the topic. Overall, it was a good study of the Lord, and I would recommend it for a Bible study group or Sunday School class or just someone looking for an in-depth study.

The Awe of God: The Astounding Way a Healthy Fear of God Transforms Your Life by John Bevere is a very good book on the topic of holiness. The book has a surprising opening. Rather than explore the positive attributes of King Solomon, the author looks at his weakness and faults. Unexpected negativity, before the author has earned my trust as a reader, is a unique writing structure.  As I continued beyond chapter one, I looked for a bigger story. And then I enjoyed this book!

Bevere is on a journey to discover and teach about holy fear. And he wisely teaches about the huge difference between the “spirit of fear” and the “fear of the Lord.” That is an interesting topic for a book. He does a good job convincing the reader about the fear of God. I found his illustrations and personal stories very helpful in understanding his message.

Each chapter ends with a Bible verse passage, a key point, a question to ponder, and a prayer. I enjoyed seeing the Greek and Hebrew definitions in addition to many Bible passages. This would be a good study book for small group discussions. It is especially helpful for pastors and ministry leaders, as a warning about the consequences when we fear people more than God. That's a book worth reading!

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC of The Awe of God. My thoughts are my own.

I didn't know anything about John Bevere before reading The Awe of God. After I started reading, I found myself questioning what Bevere believes. Understand that Bevere has former ties to Benny Hinn and continues this day to promote the New Apostolic Reformation.

Due to these facts and pentecostal material, I didn't resonate with this book.

An excellent and convicting book about how we can be too irreverent when it comes to the Lord. John Bevere brings us back to a place of holy awe and reverence.
