These books are both from the “How To Catch” series – there are 25 of them now! These bright and fun picture books are written for kids from 4 to 8 years old and are about 40 pages each. This whole series is great fun and I’m confident your young readers will love them.

• This book is pretty typical of the other books in the series. Children are trying to catch a garden fairy with elaborate traps or incentives. This book is told from the garden fairy’s POV which I thought was cute (other ones I have read were from the perspective of the children). Your kids will want to try to trap fairies themselves after reading this book.

• The books are written in verse and the illustrations are amazing.

Thank you @NetGalley and @SourceBooksKids for an eARC of this book, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I read this with the kids and they were absolutely in love from page one. The illustrations were very cute and drew you into the store. A favorite feature was the garden fairy's face stayed hidden throughout the book, allowing the family to use their imagination to fill it in however they wished. We had a fun craft time after reading with drawing our own fairy that we thought might be the MC.

The only thing we weren't a fan of was the comment about the children touching the fairy and it disappearing. It had the younger children worried that the kids might not be aware and accidentally hurt the MC or, worse, they DO know and are still trying to catch the MC knowing what would happen.

Truthfully, this whole series is quite adorable. I would just suggest having a discussion to alleviate any anxieties like mentioned above.

A gorgeous tale with rhyming words and magic all around. The illustrations were bright and colourful and it was a delight to read to my little one. Who wouldn't love a tale with fairy's unicorns and mermaids?!
Thanks for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

How to Catch a Garden Fairy is the perfect addition to this cute children’s series. My boys love reading How to Catch a Gingerbread Man and this one is just as cute! The illustrations are beautiful as well.

Such a cute pick for spring! This book covers friendship, uniqueness in each character and so many different animals and environments.

You could totally do a sequencing activity as an extension. Print off pictures to match each animal/item they come across and put them in order.

There are a lot of art projects as well! The book has colorful zebra, so you could print a zebra template and let each child decorate it in their favorite colors!

You could also do a feather project. Make a bird and each child could decorate a feather template. Add all the templates to the “class bird”

Those are just two art ideas but I bet you could come up with more! It’s a super colorful and creative pick

Loved this book! My kids, both under 10, plan on trying to make a garden fairy trap this summer in their garden. We also love the other books in this series.

How to Catch a Garden Fairy is a fun addition to the How to Catch series. My children loved reading it and looking at the fun illustrations. I loved reading it along with them. The illustrations are fun. We enjoyed looking to see what fun things the Garden Fairy was up.

I would recommend this book to anyone with children ages 2-7 or just anyone who loves a fun children’s book!

How to Catch a Garden Fairy is a really sweet rhyming book. If you have other books in the How To Catch series you should add this to your collection. If you don’t, then you should still add this to your picture book collection. This one is told from the point of view of the garden fairy and through the adventures of her dancing around traps set by kids you discover more about her life and powers. The rhyming and story is fun and captivating for children. The pictures are colorful and entertaining. A sure win for a read aloud with pre and early elementary kids or for them to read for themselves.

Very cute story about the fairy's that live in the garden. It also incorporates the tooth fairy so my daughter made the connection to the other "How to Catch a" books. These are great for all kids. Older kids may not see the rhyming and illustrations as interesting as the younger kids do. I love the cute story line though and the illustrations in the book. Sooo much detail of the garden in each drawing that we looked at the images for longer than it took to read the book!

Recommended age groups: 2-7

It is cute and the illustrations are beautiful. However, I feel like it did not "flow" perfectly like rhymes should. It was a little hard to get the hang of reading aloud since it didn't flow properly. It was a nice story though.

A fun addition to the “How to Catch” series, this is a whimsical tale about the adventures of children trying to catch a garden fairy. The rhyming didn’t flow very well, but the illustrations were colorful and the story was fun. My granddaughter was a little worried about what would happen if they caught the fairy, but otherwise enjoyed the story. She liked that it was told from the fairy’s point of view, whereas other stories in this series are told from the children’s point of view. A perfect read for spring, I would suggest this story to Perfect for children 4-7 years old. Building a fairy house would be a fun post read activity.

Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Wonderland and NetGalley for the chance to review an advance digital copy of this story. The opinions expressed are my own..

This was my first How to Catch… book. I’m not seeing what the hype is. I kind of felt like this was missing something in the beginning to explain who the storyteller was. I think it would be hard for the intended age group to figure out. I loved the graphics though.

Catching a garden fairy is not an easy quest. But she sure is a pretty thing with so many magical prowess. You can find them in the prettiest garden when you saw it, and try many things to be able to see it. Even though this is a fantastical book for children, it sure teaches them to dream, have ideas, and mostly value friendship.

This is a wonderful addition to the "How to Catch..." series. My students absolutely adored it, as did my three year old daughter. When you have a working formula, stick with it! A delight to read.

How to Catch a Garden Fairy is different from the others in the same series - all the ones we have previously read are in the POV of the children, this one however is the Fairy's POV. My 4 year old prefers the other stories in the series but overall it was a cute and engaging read. As the adult reading the story, I didn't find it had the greatest flow.. it was just okay. As always with this series, the illustrations are beautiful and full of whimsy.

Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Wonderland and NetGalley for this ARC!

A super fun addition to the How to Catch A... series! Perfect for the child who loves fairies, unicorns, and all things magical! The illustrations are adorable and the content is fun. My 4 year old daughter really enjoys these books and finding the main character on each set of pages.

Thank you to the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.

This rhyming picture book follows a familiar rhythm and pace while telling how to catch a special creature: a garden fairy. Part of a series, this book joins others like How to Catch a Daddysaurus, following similar formatting and style. Every second page has a short 4 line stanza. The font is fairly large and easy to read, and is supported by large, colourful illustrations. I think this would be a fun book for young readers and is likely to be a popular series. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!
