It took me a while to get into this book but once I did I really enjoyed it. It was twisty and unpredictable and kept me guessing all the way through

This book is a slow burn and deals with a lot of difficult subjects.

There are many twists and it really keeps you guessing.

I feel like the ending is kind of unresolved and leaves you with some unanswered questions though.

I did enjoy this book though.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

Another enthralling read from Diane Saxon!

Memories are a strange thing; they can be there at the back of your mind and then suddenly relocate to being uppermost. In a family of four sisters, there is a memory of something which happened to one of them - so which one? And what is the secret? That's what kept me reading right to the very end!

This is a very cleverly crafted novel, beautifully written. As we get to know all four sisters, we begin to get an insight into their lives and it is a very hard book to put down! No sooner had I made up my mind who had the secret than I changed my mind and just had to keep reading to find out more and more. This author never fails to produce a gripping, exciting thriller and this latest is no exception. Did I see the end coming? Absolutely not! It quite took my breath away. Highly recommended and easily earning all five sparkling stars.

My thanks to the publisher for my copy and my apologies for the lateness of my review. Due to an eye problem I have been unable to use my computer screen lately.

Absolutely loved this psychological thriller packed with suspense & intrigue.
So well written with many twists that will leave you guessing time & again.
The suspense & intrigue slowly builds throughout to keep you turning those pages.
I love it when an author can keep you in the dark up to the end.
Four sisters who lead very differing lives but still have that special close bond & are always there should they need help or comfort.
Something happened to one of them in their childhood but they each have their own secrets that haunt them, but whose is worst ?
What would you do to protect your your family, would you contemplate revenge to right a wrong.
You will certainly be drawn into the lives of each of these sisters but you never no for sure till those last pages just who & what they are capable of.
Great storyline that held me to the last page

I am a big fan of Diane Saxon. I have read all of Diane’s psychological thrillers, been super impressed with them and also been lucky enough to attend some book launch parties too. My sisters secret was no exception to the super impressed tule and I may also be more impressed than usual. The description used in the book is just mindblowing. I absolutely love it, really captures and holds your attention.
The book is told through four sisters but at times you are left wondering which sister is telling the story.
The theme (abuse) is covered well and handled very sensitively. There’s no graphic descriptions used for this book.

I had a gifted e-book for book tour and have since purchased a copy of the book for my shelf and to add to my Diane Saxon collection.

Reading Between the Wines book review #12/115 for 2023:
Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: My Sister’s Secret
Author: Diane Saxon
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers
Available now!

Sipping thoughts: I was not expecting what I just read!! It starts off with an incident that traumatized one of the sisters and then it just crescendo into a childhood secret and revenge. All the sisters are holding secrets and any of them are capable of getting revenge. The question is just which one (or more than one) has decided she can’t take anymore? I went back and forth on who it was and was wrong and then right and then wrong again. This book will have you second-guessing yourself but also rooting for the revenge-seeking sister!

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @BoldwoodBooks for an advanced copy of @MySistersSecret.

I really enjoyed this book as it was gritty and full of suspense as well as action. Ho, each chapter read from a different character in the book which sometimes took me a while to work out which character it was at the time. It would've made it easier if the name had been displayed at the top of the page. But it could've just been me. Still a fantastic read though.

This is a breathtaking read I was gripped instantly. This book is so twisty you never really feel like you know the truth. The Family dynamics are fantastic too and intricately woven throughout adding even more depth to a wonderful book.

This is an incredibly well written, heart breaking and disturbing book about a young girl who suffers one of the worst things a person can go through, This book covers the sensitive topic of dealing with the release of a criminal who stole the very life and soul of a young girl. It covers h0w her family deals and dealt with it and how their support and love is the most powerful tool for her, which isn't easy to give or receive. One thing is clear, people like Gary Philpotts shouldn't see the light of day.

Four sisters with very different lives all have their own secret. But one secret is deadlier than all the others! This book is a slow burn, and it took me a while to get into the story as I kept getting mixed up about who was who. But as the story progressed I was drawn into the lives of the four siblings, who are all very well drawn and it was easy to empathise with them. The subject matter (child sexual abuse) is horrific but the author deals with the subject sensitively. There are several twists and turns where I discovered that everything I thought I had worked out was wrong! I highly recommend this shocking psychological thriller.

What a read, touches on delicate subject matter but is well written and has a great storyline. It grabbed my attention from the start and didn’t let go till the very last page. Diane has a way worth words that her books just flow. I have thoroughly enjoyed the previous books of hers I’ve read and this one was no different. I won’t write about the storyline as I feel that’s a job for the blurb, to draw you in and peak your interest, but I will say your in for a cracking read.

EXCELLENT domestic thriller, well written & keeping the suspense high wondering the identity of the vigilante. RECOMMEND fully as with all of this authors' other works which I have totally enjoyed. Thanks to #NetGalley & #Boldwood books for this ARC in return for my honest review.

Really good book. Lots of twists and turns love the fact the chapters are told but at times you are not sure which sister has done something wrong. Love Diane's surprise appearance in the book.
I did not guess the ending at all. But will grip you till the bitter end. Fab read.

My Sister's Secret by Diane Saxon
Pub Date: 19th January
Publisher: Boldwood Books
Genre:General Fiction, Mystery and Thriller
The story unfolds, and I found myself on the edge of my seat, gasping for the next bit but unsure what to expect. A true thriller that had me completely engrossed with twists and turns and a brilliant ending that took me completely by surprise.
A childhood secret binds four sisters together. They lead very different lives, but they are always there for one another. They are linked by a day in the past, about which they do not speak. If they ever did, the floodgates would open.
A character is haunted by terrible childhood events that occurred when he was nine years old. He got away with it because she kept quiet. Every day since, the guilt and fear have consumed her. If she can avoid it, she will never again let an innocent life suffer.
Every character was well-drawn, likeable, and realistic. The reader is horrified by the amount of suffering endured by the four main characters. They will never be free of their past.
We can see the fierce defence.of a mother's love. She is willing to go to any length to protect her children, no matter how old they are.
The novel is composed in alternating time periods and from alternating first and third person points of view. We become familiarised with the characters whom we admire for overcoming adversity. Throughout, we hear a first-person voice. It is up to us to figure out who is speaking.

WOW WOW WOW - read most of Dane Saxon’s books and this in my opinion as her best yet. from the first page I was hooked on the story concerning Dr. Caryn Peeke who has not been to her childhood home in almost 20 years. Caryn was 10 when Lloyd, her little brother, disappeared and she is made to feel the blame and guilt for his disappearance.

The story unravels and at times I was on the edge of my seat gasping wanting to read next bit but wondering what to expect. A real thriller which had me totally hooked with twists and turns and a brilliant ending which was a complete surprise to me. I highly recommend.

This is my first book by the author and I will be reading her other books.

This was a slow burner, but this really enabled my get to know the sisters properly. I really enjoyed to different POV’s (especially the anonymous voice) and the backstory of the events.

Some great twists which kept me interested throughout

My Sisters Secret by Diane Saxon
Four sisters, four secrets. Who has the deadliest of them all?
Something happened to me when I was nine.
My childhood memories before that fateful day are gone. Extinguished.
The aftermath has become a living nightmare with guilt that runs so deep that I'm not sure I can ever tell anyone. I fear I've left it too late.
The burden of my secret and the hurt and pain that silence cost every family member is too overwhelming.
There was no justice. Not then. Not now. But I can change that?
Diane Saxon's books take up a shelf on my bookcase, so, obviously, I genuinely enjoy her writing style and thrilling tangible plots. This compelling page-turner is about how far you would go for your family to right a wrong.
Each sister's secrets are scrutinised, and it is interesting to discover their opinions and feelings about why they acted the way they did. But, it begs the question, how would you react put in each's position?
A satisfying read that I am happy to recommend.
I want to thank Publisher Boldwood Books, author Diane Saxon and Rachel's Random Resources for a spot on the tour and a copy to read and review.

Overall 4.5*

The story is cleverly told in a way that you are not always too sure which of the four sisters is giving their POV and so in trying to fathom this out, it is a really good page turner. It deals with child abuse amongst other things and highlights the effect of not speaking up may have on others later on both within the family and with others. If you are of a certain age, it may trigger some memories of what life was like back in the day!! A great page turner and another winner from Ms Saxon.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to review.

My Sister’s Secret by Diane Saxon is a marvelous contemporary psychological suspense that gripped me from the start.
Four sisters bonded closely by a childhood secret. They live very different lives but are always there for each other. A day in the past unites them, but about which they do not talk. If ever they did, then the floodgates would open.
Terrible childhood events haunt a character – one day aged nine years old would remain forever. She kept quiet and he got away with it. Every day since, the guilt and the fear have eaten her up. Never again must an innocent life suffer if she can help it.
All the characters were well drawn, likable and realistic. The reader is horrified by the amount of suffering the four lead characters have faced. The past never leaves them.
We see the fierce protection of a mother’s love. There are no lengths to which she will not go in order to protect her children – no matter how old they are.
The novel is written in alternating time periods and from alternating points of view in both the first and the third person. We become intimately acquainted with the characters whom we applaud for becoming over-comers. We hear a first person voice throughout. It is up to us to work out who is doing the talking.
My Sister’s Secret is absolutely heart-breaking as we witness innocent lives being ripped apart. Those who should protect, abuse their positions of power.
Diane Saxon has written a compelling tale and one that will haunt me forever. This is such a powerful book and one you do not want to miss.
I received a free copy from Rachel’s Random Resources for a blog tour. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
