The cutest cover i’ve ever seen matches the sweetest book i’ve ever read. A perfect romance novel for those who love grumpy sunshine trope

So, I love the main characters! Neither are being their true selves because of insecurities that come with life. They honestly feel real and vulnerable, and the reasons for not getting together right away feels plausible. I hate when I find myself thinking "Um ok" in order to pass over a plot hole. This one hit perfectly for me.

Sarah Adams never misses for me! Annie and Will were a treat to read and I enjoyed every page. I received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

A sweet and endearing romance. Set in a small town, shy introvert meets badboy- he coaches her on romance. This book had some fun and witty moments with great chemistry between the main characters. Fade to black so not super steamy but still a solid, entertaining read.

Practice Makes Perfect was one of my favorite romance reads of the year! I have adored every single book I have read of Sarah Adams' and this one lived up to every expectation I had. I loved When In Rome and was so excited to return to the world of Rome, Kentucky again. Annie and Will have the sweetest, most genuine, slow burn connection. I relate to Annie so much as a female lead in some aspects, and it was comforting to feel so seen about aspects of myself that are often not reflected in literature I've read. I can only hope to find the kind of love that they have in my own life! I can't wait until the next When In Rome book - it is my favorite romance series! :)

Annie is looking to settle down, but isn’t sure she has the skills or experience to bag her perfect match. Will is looking for just the opposite, and knows he has the skills to stay uncommitted for good. So the question remains, is Will the perfect dating coach to help Annie be ready for the man of her dreams?

Annie and Will are both instantly lovable characters, and I'm rooting for them from the beginning. Although the miscommunication is present, the characters do a good job of getting around to communicating quickly so that I don't have to feel like I want to shake sense into them or slam the book shut. I actually like the way they communicate, and it fits with their characters and the development of the story.

This book was written for you if:
1. You love a small town cast of characters
2. You ever watched that show Bodyguard and were like, “Okay, yeah, David Bud could get it.”
3. You’re intrigued by the beautiful cover because the book is just as good!

I’m not sure I can say enough about this little gem. I loved everything about this book. 🥰

Practice Makes Perfect is the second book in the When in Rome series and features a lot of the lovable characters we first met in When in Rome. While you don’t need to have read When in Rome to enjoy this book, I’d highly recommend it only because it was such a great read!

I loved Annie from the start in When in Rome and was so happy to learn she was getting her own book. Will was the perfect character to help Annie break through her self-sabotage and boost her confidence. Together, the intensity of their attraction and their fight against it made the book so hard to put down.

And again, can I just say, I wish I could live in Rome, Kentucky? These townspeople are the best, always looking out for each other. Annie and her family may not always see it that way, but it’s so endearing. I loved the impromptu town hall meetings and how everyone is so interconnected. This time around, the town gave off very strong Gilmore Girls vibes.

I really can’t wait for the next book in the When in Rome series. I have some ideas about who it will be centered around and I’m all for it!

Now, please excuse me while I go add the rest of Sarah Adams’ books to my TBR and preorder The Rule Book, available April 2, 2024.

Thank you Sarah Adams, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Dell, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Sarah Adams is a master at her craft!!!

Practice Makes Perfect managed to somehow top When In Rome. This is a stellar series and I can’t wait to read more Walker sibling love stories in the future.

Run to your local library, bookstore, or wherever you get books if you are a fan of:
-small town romances
-fake dating
-opposites attract
-dual POVs
-sizzling chemistry (without being explicit)
-mental health representation

Thank you to Netgalley, Sarah Adams, and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to read this book early! I really enjoyed it. I thought the writing was very well done, and the story kept me interested. I believe my students/patrons would also love this book and will be acquiring it for the library!

Annie, is the socially awkward introvert and youngest of four. Will, is the bodyguard of a famous pop star now engaged to Annie's brother. Rome, Kentucky is a quiet town where nothing happens without everyone knowing by breakfast and Will's nightmare. But after a failed date Will agrees to be Annie's dating coach. This can only end well right?
I loved the banter and the small town nosy ladies. I felt connected to Annie with her hidden secrets and the way she wanted to be outwardly more of who she felt inside, she just had trouble articulating and overcoming her inexperience and self doubt. Will was so patient and I loved having his commentary as well. I do wish this wasn't what I would consider a fade to black/no details romance besides a makeout scene. This didn't align what I thought was coming with their inner thoughts and Annie's books. That knocked it down a star for me for being considered a romance book. Otherwise I very much enjoyed this story and the secondary characters as well as the main characters.

In true Sarah Adams style, this one is cute and sentimental while also being hilarious. I chuckled out loud so many times! This is just a heartwarming story all around and I loved how CLEARLY our MCs communicated!!

This had a cute beginning but it’s one I decided to set down for now. Will try again later as it might be my mood and I’d heard good things

I really loved this book. Practice Makes Perfect is another great book in the Rome series. I

I didn't even read book 1 but I didn't need to in order to fall in love with Rome and it's inhabitants. Annie and Will proved that romance can, in fact, have a conflict that is internal to the couple AND they can still communicate like adults, and I respect that so deeply. Absolutely swoony but without lacking depth, this book made me cry, made me laugh, and made me want to book a flight to Rome, Kentucky.

This was absolutely everything I needed. Having been in a book slump for quite some time, this was a breath of fresh air. It was cute, wholesome, hot, and unexpected. Everyone needs to read this.

Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams was super adorable. I love the When in Rome series and am hoping for more. The fake dating trope is one of my favorites and Sarah Adams did it so well. The characters have unique jobs that fit their personalities and I also love a meddling town. I would definitely recommend this book.

I unfortunately did not make it through this book before I lost access to it. Reading the reviews of others who did however, made me feel that I would not have loved the book since it sounded like it contained scenes that would have made me uncomfortable.

Holy WOW! Another amazing book by Sarah Adams! Practice Makes Perfect is the second book of the When in Rome series and can be read as a standalone although, I would highly recommend reading the first book (When in Rome) since it shares so many of the same characters/history.

Annie is the youngest of the Walker family. She has always been seen as the innocent, people pleasing sibling and she was tired of it. She owns the town flower shop , is close with her family but feels like something is missing in her life. She thinks that finding a good man, settling down, getting married and having a few kids may be the answer. Her only problem is that when on dates she clams up and comes across as boring.

In walks Will with a date of his own! He is Annie’s soon-to-be sister-in-law, Amelia’s sexy, tattooed bodyguard. Will thinks Annie is anything but boring, in fact she is all that he can think about during his date when he ends the night early. His only problem is he is anti-commitment/marriage, he is however, very good at flirting and is known as a serial dater. Amelia comes up with the grand idea of Will teaching Annie how to properly date. He does a great job at this - not only does Annie find a few guys who are now interested in her but Will finds himself interested in her. But she doesn’t fit into his plans.

This book is clean, super cute romcom with some serious Gilmore Girl vibes. I love the connection between Will and Annie. I did feel like Annie was very immature at times but it was really good to see her character development. Will had his own issues to overcome but I loved when his views started to change. I adored seeing the Cinnamon Roll side of Will when he snuck in Annie’s window to cuddle with her when she couldn’t sleep or when he made her favorite soup when she was sick. I really just love everything about him! Even the fact that he realized that he was affected by his dysfunctional parents (with the help of his brother) and that he needed to go to therapy to be able to move on with his life.

My only complaint would be that at times the back and forth of their feelings was a little much. Other than that, I feel that this book is great! Lots of witty banter - it’s a quick read and I can’t wait to read the next book! I am rounding up for my rating because I just love this family!

Dnf at 70%. I wanted to like this book, I’ve really enjoyed Sarah’s books in the past, but I couldn’t get into it. I don’t love the innocent, virgin with the experienced bad boy trope.
