Rocky Mountain Rendezvous
by Misty M. Beller
Publisher: Bethany House
Series: Sisters of the Rockies Book 1
Rated: 2
Obtain: Borrow
Back of the Book: “In 1837, Juniper Collins and her sisters are shocked by their father's deathbed request for them to return a special set of beads to a Piegan Blackfoot woman he credits with saving his life during his travels West. Together, the sisters set out for the trapper rendezvous to find the woman, but their mission turns more daunting when they come upon the mass of men and lodges spread out in the Green River Valley.
Riley Turner came West to find peace and quiet and live off the land, but when four unprotected women arrive at the rendezvous, he feels compelled to help them and is more fascinated by Juniper than any other woman he's known.
As their search brings only empty leads and dead ends, the sisters must decide whether to return East or stay in the mountains to continue looking--and that's if the mystery woman is even still alive. Is the risk to honor their father's last request worth the danger they find at every turn?”

Impressions: I found the premise of this book to be unlikely and much of the plot to be questionable as well. This disrupted any other enjoyable factors in reading. This book was a pass for me.

I received an ARC of this book via the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review shared here. For more book reviews go to: https://thebluestockingbooknook.wordpress.com

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC of this book.

I don't read a lot of books set in the West with Indians, actually I'm not aware of that many. This was good, very descriptive. It was not hard to imagine the looks on the Indians faces as they kept quiet about the one being looked for. I enjoyed the relationship between Juniper and Riley and between Juniper and her sisters.
Looking forward to the next book in this series.

At the start of this novel, the Collins sisters embark on a quest to carry out their father’s will and give the gift their father planned for the Blackfoot Piegan woman. They journey to the Green River Valley in search of this woman, where they meet Riley Turner.

Riley is concerned for the safety of these sisters, who have just arrived in an area where trapping is legal. He finds it difficult to believe these ladies would take such a risk on their own. They were ignorant of the dangers posed by the wildlife, the weather, and the men in the camp. Riley couldn’t help but feel rather guarded about these women, especially the second oldest, Juniper. Unbeknownst to Riley these sisters had made a pact, they wouldn’t become romantically involved while carrying out their father’s wishes. They wanted to stay together, buy a ranch, and run it the way their father did.

Riley’s battle to keep these strong, independent women safe during their expedition was amusing to see. They had no familiarity with the area or its inhabitants. He couldn’t help but notice that his interest in Juniper began to grow as their quest went on and they revealed their hopes and dreams for the future.

The author does an excellent job of transporting the reader back in time and allowing them to picture what it must have been like for these ladies as they dealt with unique challenges on the open planes. Who knew that while attempting to carry out their father’s final request, these sisters would embark on an unforgettable, life changing journey, face danger, laugh, and fall in love.

This is a wonderful novel to get lost in and one that would work well for your next book club pick.

I absolutely love how Misty Beller's books are set in beautiful places! I kept looking out my windows over the Rockies as I read and imagining the story unfolding!

Juniper and her sisters ride into the Rendezvous, a gathering of Mountain men, trappers and hunters in the Colorado territory. The women are there to carry out their fathers last wishes, with no idea of the dangers women alone will face among this gathering of men. Riley steps in as their protector, and a sweet love story begins to unfold!

I found some parts of the story a bit farfetched, but this is fiction, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

So thankful to have received a free #arc from #netgalley! All opinions are my own!

Beller takes the reader on a wonderful journey into the life of frontier trappers at their big re-supplying rendezvous. This rendezvous brings with it four single sisters in search of a woman their father asked them to find just before he passed away.

I really enjoyed the setting and time period of this novel. Beller continues to find unique frontier settings and includes many wonderful historical details.

Riley appoints himself as the protector for the four sisters in a precarious and dangerous situation. I did find the likelihood of four sisters traveling unaccompanied during the 1830s a bit of a stretch to believe, especially since Beller mentioned a few times that money wasn’t an obstacle for them. I was able to move past this and enjoy the story anyway.

The romance that developed between Riley and Juniper delighted me. They both had to weigh what falling in love would mean to their lives and other relationships.

Beller keeps the reader guessing through the entire book about whether the sisters will find the woman they are searching for. I also appreciated the way she set up the story for a few sequels and look forward to reading them as well.

Fans of Christian historical fiction will enjoy this adventurous frontier romance.

Genre: Christian Historical Romance, Inspirational Romance, Frontier Romance

I very much enjoyed this fast-paced novel!
With lots of adventure along the way you'll meet many different kinds of people. Some good and some not so good.
Beller, does this story so well that I was transported back in time before I knew it. I couldn't put it down and was sad that it was over.
Juniper was my favorite character. I loved her determination, passion and dedication to her sisters and the ability to tough it out when things got rough.
Of course, we can't forget Riley. I thought he pretty cool just by himself.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN RENDEZVOUS by MISTY M BELLER is a story about mountain men at a trapper rendezvous in Green River Valley in 1857 and the four Collins sisters, Rosemary, Juniper, Lorelei and Faith, who arrive with the supply wagons to look for a Peigan Blackfoot woman called Steps Right in order to give her something from their deceased father. This was his dying request and they feel honour bound to see this through. When Riley Turner sees how the woman hungry trappers are ogling the young women he takes it upon himself to look after them, together with his trusty friends Dragoon and Ol’Henry, even accmpanying them on their search for Steps Right.
The plot is exciting and the characters are unforgettable, with some friendly and some unfriendly Indians, some unscrupulous mountain men, some beautiful descriptions of the mountai scenery, lots of horses, a sweet romance and a Christian message running through the story.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Another gem from Misty M. Beller!
Juniper is the second oldest of her four sisters. The sisters have journeyed to Green River Valley searching for a Piegan Blackfoot woman their father once knew. It was his dying wish to return something the woman had given him long ago. Riley is concerned for the safety of the four women who have arrived in the trapping town. He sets out to help them find the woman they are looking for. When danger is closing in, Riley must protect the ladies and the woman he is falling in love with, all before time runs out.
I really enjoyed this novel! Juniper is such a strong woman with dreams to match. The chemistry between her and Riley is so much fun to watch develop. I really hope WhiteHorse gets his own book. I liked his character a lot and hope to see more of him in future novels. I would absolutely recommend this book to any friends and family!

This is the first book in a new series by Misty Beller, and I really enjoyed it! I stayed up later than I should have to finish it. The characters are great, and I really liked the interactions between the various ones. The plots twists aren’t overdone (and no one gets lost in a snow storm). Now I can’t wait for the next book!

this was such a great start to the Sisters of the Rockies series, it had a great historical romance aspect and I was enjoying the journey. It worked well overall and I thought it worked well in the time-period. I;ve enjoyed previous works from Misty M. Beller, and this was another great book by her. I can't wait to read more from her as I enjoyed this.

"Riley pushed up to his feet. “Guess I’ll go watch in case he brings half the camp down on himself.” In truth, Dragoon could hold his own amongst the rabble, but someone needed to be near in case the women got caught in the fray. He’d barely rounded the stretched hides when a volley of shots echoed from somewhere to the left. They couldn’t be more than a quarter mile away, though the rock cliffs on either side of the valley made the sounds bounce in every direction."

Before beginning to read this book, I was a little skeptical of the basic premise and still remain a bit so. During the time frame mentioned, I am not at all sure that four sisters would undertake a journey to travel from the East Coast to a Rocky Mountain Rendezvous…by themselves. Not only would this have been very socially unacceptable during that time but maybe even considered scandalous behavior. I realize that I am writing this from a male perspective so the reader of this review needs to take that into consideration; perhaps there were adventuresome women who would have attempted this..

But regardless of all that …I found the story to be a really good one; I loved the women showing that they could be every bit as resourceful and competent as any other person. The story was a good one with all sorts of action—from thieves, to Indians (friendly and not so friendly), to men who were looking with lecherous intent, to men willing to accept these competent women on the terms that they desired. So there is maybe something in the story for everyone. I enjoyed seeing such strong female protagonists.

While it is possibly true that some men might find this story not to their liking…but not to read it would be their loss, in my opinion. If one has been around strong, competent, and capable women, there are all sorts of parallels that can be seen. As a man, I’d definitely recommend it to other men willing to go beyond the gender stereotypes and find a really good and uplifting story. This might be one book that could have a different appeal level for different genders but I think it is worth the try for any gender orientation..

I really enjoyed this family mystery, and I found myself unable to put the book down, so anxious was I to know who this woman was to the girls' father, and who she is to them. The romantic element between Riley and Juniper added to the storyline but was not the main focus, which was nice, and the relationship between the sisters was endearing.

I look forward to more from this author.
