Ali Hazelwood has written another phenomenal STEM romcom with Love, Theoretically. I literally binged it in 24 hours and not just because of an upcoming bookclub but because I loved these quirky characters (Elsie & Jack) and was pumping my fist in the air when they finally got together. I learned so much about the world of physics and academia. Laughed out loud with the dad jokes from the faculty and gasped when Elsie’s bonus career was revealed. The thought of a tattooed physicist might just be my new dreamy book boyfriend.

Ali Hazelwood is an auto-buy author for me. You know when you find an author where their books feel like they were written just for you? That is how I feel about Ali's books. I love them so much. The character, their quirks., the plots, the romance- all of it is chef's kiss. Love, Theoretically is one of my favorite books of hers. Elsie and Jack are a perfect book couple. I loved their rivalry. I loved Jack's pining. I just loved all of it. This gave me total Love Hypothesis vibes (in a way that Love on the Brain did not)

If you liked The Love Hypothesis, you need to read Love, Theoretically. In fact, just writing this review makes me want to go back and do a re-read right now. These characters have such a hold on me. They made me fall completely in love. This is a rivals to lovers romance. Rivals because theoretical physicists and experimental physicists are bitter rivals in an academic setting. And Elsie and Jack did not disappoint. I love them both so much. This book is a smash hit for me.

Ali Hazelwoods books are always a delight. It was a fun rom com and yet littered with interesting tidbits bits of science that shows strong research. This book is a little bit nerdy and yet super steamy which is a fun and unique combination. A great read for lover of STEM and romance!

I desperately want to love Ali Hazelwood's STEM-inist romances, but I just can't get behind the science. Her dialogue and banter are top notch and I really enjoyed the way these characters grew together and as individuals. The physics element of the story just got in the way of my full enjoyment.

Ali Hazelwood writes the same thing and we eat it up every time. This one was so fun to read! Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review!

Ali Hazelwood has done it again, she has given us a book full of science that is easy to understand and digest alongside a romance full of charisma, wit, and yearning. I have become a huge fan of Hazelwood due to her ability to write characters who are on or just out of science PHD track in an informative way. The science in her books always feel accessible but not elementary/condescending. This makes her characters so refreshing to read about. This book is by far my favorite by her yet and has solidified her as an auto-buy author for me.

An Ali Hazelwood never fails or disappoints; I loved as usual, all the science and humor, the romance is always top notch without being to ridiculously steamy. The plot however, is always the best. What a fun, thoughtful, and cute rom-com with all the science!!

I do like Ali Hazelwood but to be honest I am not interested in another story with a similar setting and tropes. The same way that I am uninterested in romances set in the foodie world due to them being so over saturated, I am losing interest in the grumpy/enemies to lovers academia world. If readers are not feeling the same way as me I would recommend this book to them as it is well written and cute as her others were too.

The cutthroat world of academia combined with this steamy, swoony romance is just so good. Ali Hazelwood both knows her setting and the romance world so well, and the characters radiate off the page. I truly have retained the bare minimum of knowledge from high school level physics, so the science bits don't necessarily mean much to me, but the passion the characters have for their fields DOES enhance my enjoyment of the story.

Love Ali Hazelwood's romance style with women who are smart and in charge. Love, Theoretically was no exception! Excellent read - highly recommended.

Love, Theoretically is my first time reading anything by Ali Hazelwood and I absolutely loved this story so much.

I honestly don't even know where to start. I just want to gush about what happened and all the scientific words that she perfectly inserted into this story just to give it another layer was magnificent.

Elise is a theoretical physicist and barely making ends meet, even with her side hustle. She's finally interviewing for a job that will have her breathing comfortably again and also doing what she absolutely loves - being a theoretical physicist and not teaching random classes as an adjunct professor.

Elise's side hustle comes to "bite her in the butt" when one of the professor's also happens to be the brother of one of her fake dates. But that's not all, she truly finds out who Jack is and that adds another layer to her problem.

Love, Theoretically is an interesting take on enemies-to-lovers because it's definitely more one-sided on the enemies side, but I won't say whom.

I thoroughly enjoyed Ali's writing and her ability to create quirky, nerdy characters and make them so surreal and likable. I loved every character in this book and their mannerisms.

Ali delivers an all-around phenomenal story that I could not put down. Alot of the physics stuff went over my head but it did not hinder my ability to fully enjoy this story.

This is a definite must-read and now I need to go back and read her other two books.

My favorite Ali Hazelwood book! This was enemies to lovers turned work romance that absolutely captured my heart. The challenges of women in academia was so explored so well and reminded me again how much we needed romance books with women in STEM. The chemistry was intense and this is definitely the sexiest book by this author. Jack Smith was the ultimate hero. Intelligent and caring even though we think he's a jerk at first. Once we find out that he fell first I was done. An absolutely incredible romance I can't recommend enough.

Another knockout from Hazelwood, this book will please any fans of hers. Diving even deeper into the historic systemic problems in academia, Love, Theoretically manages to balance commentary on the problematic politics and prejudices in the academic world with another love story that will make your heart swoon and your toes curl. If previous Hazelwood books have not been your cup of tea, you shouldn't go in expecting anything different, but I think we really see her reach her stride in this one with a more refined polish. The inner lives of our characters are fully fleshed out, we don't rely on their relationship to one another in order to care about them. The friendships in this book are just as strong as the romantic relationship, a feature you don't always see but I always adore. Because the great loves of our lives are not always romantic, and those deserve to be seen and reflected too. But don't be mistaken, the romantic relationship in this one hits all the right marks and will make you rue the day, once again, that Hazelwood's men are not real people.

This is an amazing and steamy enemies to lovers trope. And I am always a fan of women in STEM! Thank you to Ali and the publisher for an early read.

another shameless declaration; i am Ali Hazelwood’s slave and there’s nothing you can do to change that. Love theoretically follows Elsie, a thermodynamics brainiac who hustles on the side by offering fake girlfriend services, only to one day capture the attention of the insanely attractive but stoic physicist, Jack who happens to be the brother of her favorite client. Jack was also the man who might just sabotage her career and Elsie has to prepare herself for an all-out war in order to save her dreams, even if it takes her to spend days with Jack that will soon lead her to unravel the cold-hearted facade that he has for the rest of the world except for her.

if there’s one thing i can trust on Ali to nail on is her ability to write pining heroes who would literally beg on their knees for their women. Jack may share similar attributes to Ali’s other heroes but one thing that’s especially different and refreshing about him is that this man confidently has his heart in his eyes at all times with Elsie and is not afraid to give voice to his feelings and intentions.
Elsie’s skill to switch personalities merely to suit different people she encounters and being uncomfortable with her own vulnerability makes her Ali’s most relatable heroine to me.
Overall, I (not really) surprisingly devoured this in a day, albeit the pacing was much slower than TLH and LOTB but I enjoyed and adored the characters nonetheless and could definitely see myself rereading this for some serotonin boost.

My favorite of Hazelwood's so far! Attached is the link to the Feminist Book Club podcast episode where Hazelwood and I talk about STEMinism and her books.

I don't know what it is about Ali's books (maybe it's men completing the basic tasks of accountability and allyship?), but I can't put her books down. All of them are great! I specifically like that the main character in this one learns to not mold herself to what everyone around her wants and learns to say no.

Sign me up for anything Ali Hazelwood writes! Who knew I'd love love stories set in the academia world so much? Fake dating tropes and enemies to lovers sold me on this one as well. I love that Elsie got paid to fake date people. What a smart way to make extra cash when your 9-5er isn't making ends meet. The relationship between Elsie and Jack was fire. I LOVED their chemistry. It leapt off the page and slapped me in the face. Highly recommend this book for any and all romcom fans!
