Levi Ross has decided to ignore the meteorologist who predicted a particularly early hurricane for Prince Edward Island and the consequences would be just what he deserved… if he deserved to be quietly tending the wounds of PEI’s only other resident stuck in the school when said hurricane dropped a tree through the roof of Kelsey Ahern’s classroom. But what he deserves has been a sticking point for Levi ever since his dad left the island and all his collateral damage without looking back. With Kelsey fired up about the future of the storm damaged Victoria Playhouse, and Levi fired up by Kelsey all over again, his past, present, and future are on a collision course. I can say from experience, Liz Johnson’s third installment of her Prince Edward Island Shores series apparently does not have to be read in order for the reader to get caught up in the storm that rages between the girl who grew up in the spotlight and the guy who will do anything to hide from it. The Ross family dynamics and their community of neighbors fuel this story all the way to a satisfying ending.

When a hurricane comes through PEI wreaking havoc on the island and Kelsey Ahern's plans, she finds herself without a job. But Kelsey is determined to restore the old Victoria Playhouse where she grew up performing alongside her grandmother. But she finds help and an ally in one of the most unlikely sources, the quiet janitor Levi Ross.

I loved how Kelsey just lit up doing what she loved, her hardworking enthusiasm for theater on PEI, as well as her saintly patience with a certain difficult actor. Levi is probably my favorite of the Ross brothers, he has a quiet strength, and isn't a man of many words, but behind his unassuming exterior he hides a heart of gold, with an appreciation for literature. One of my favorite parts of this books was his friendship with Dustin, and how he encourages and instill confidence in the young man.

A heartwarming small town romance, with compelling characters, strong faith, and a picturesque setting. I have a special place in my heart for The Importance of Being Earnest, so I thought it was so awesome that it was featured in this book. I loved Kelsey and Levi together, as well as catching up with the rest of the family in this satisfying conclusion to a fantastic series!

Summer in the Spotlight is the final book in the Prince Edward Island Shores series by Liz Johnson but can be read as a stand alone novel. I was really excited to read Levi's story since meeting him in an earlier book in the series and it did not disappoint. Watching him and Kelsey come together to help save the theater that means so much to her was lovely. A great read!

Title: Summer in the Spotlight

Author: Liz Johnson

Ch: 25 plus epilogue

Pg: 345

Series: Prince Edward Island shores 3

Genre: Contemporary Christian fiction

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher: Revell

Summer in the Spotlight by Liz Johnson is the third and final book in the Prince Edward Island shores series. And it’s my favorite book of the series. But then I’ve been wanting Levi’s story since book one. What’s not to love about a quiet bookish hero. Kelsey Ahern is determined to save the local theater after a hurricane and the least likely person to help Levi Ross.

Levi comes into his own is this book. But the seeds of the growth and change started in book one so it’s best to read the series in order.

But out of all the Ross brothers Levi is my favorite. He’s not a fisherman like Oliver or a hockey player like Eli. He’s not even a typical romance hero but he’s a quiet bookworm who loves his family. Quite frankly we need more heroes like him in fiction.

I loved Levi and Kelsey’s story and Summer in the Spotlight wrapped up the series beautifully.

Levi Ross intrigued me from book one. It was clear this younger brother had strength behind his silence and in book two readers got a glimpse of his dreams and hopes. Now in his one book we could see even more of this silent gentleman, including his reasons for choosing not to talk unless required.

Talkative Kelsey with her tendency to faint at the sight of blood and who is working through her own fears and regrets was a great friend to Levi.

The mystery around the Ross father was also concluded in this series.

I loved this series about the Ross family and sad to bid them farewell.

Summer in the Spotlight, by Liz Johnson, is tells the tale of two former schoolmates, Levi Ross and Kelsey Ahern, who are now working in the same school. Kelsey is a teacher, as well as a drama coach, while Levi is the facilities director. When they get caught in the school during an intense hurricane, Kelsey is trapped by a fallen tree and ends up with piece of glass in her shoulder. Levi is suddenly at a loss at how to help her!

After Levi successfully performs first aid for her injury, Kelsey is back to her life of making plans for her drama department. She cannot believe it when she suddenly learns that the drama program is being canceled. The theater is too damaged to use for any productions!

Levi and Kelsey work hard to save the local theater. When Gunner Raines, a popular weatherman shows up on the scene, you
wonder how Levi will respond. This man seems to have he eye on Kelsey; however, she is not sure what she will do when she discovers that this man cannot act. Regrettably, Kelsey has already given him a lead acting spit!

When Gunner bails on performing in the show, you wonder how Kelsey fill his spot. In the midst of all the theater confusion, Levi’s father suddenly shows up years after he abandoned his family. It is interesting to see how Levi responds to this man who hurt him years ago!

Okay, so I thought this was just a sweet, lightweight, easy read to race through between the 'heavier' books I usually spend my time with...& it did start out that way. Two main characters - indeed nearly all the characters - who were so easy to like. A simple enough story, from the first page the reader knows how it will end. But...gradually the story starts to fill out, as you realise there is always a 'back-story' to everyone - a reason for their present-day behaviour. This is a book one can learn a lot from, done in such a gentle way there can be no resistance. Yes - I liked this book from the moment I
started it, & I liked it more & more as it went along : it was worth reading : ) 3 1/2 stars

“We do hard things for the people we love.” “Speak life. Each person had the power to speak life or death.”

I adored this book! Summer in the Spotlight is the first full length novel I’ve read by Liz Johnson and won’t be my last. I’ve always loved Prince Edward Island because of its association with Anne of Green Gables. So, when I learned of this sweet romance set there, I jumped at the chance to read it. I didn’t realize it was the third book in the series, but that didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying it. I easily dove right in and loved every minute of it. It’s a slow burn, second chance, gentle romance with endearing characters and a touch of faith that’ll tug on your heartstrings.

Kelsey Ahern has a fear of blood, a love of theater, and a burning desire to honor her grandmother’s legacy. When damage from a hurricane destroys the community theater she grew up performing in and her teaching job, she teams up with the quiet, handsome high school facilities director whom she’s always secretly admired to put on a benefit show to rebuild the theater.

Levi Ross learned at a young age to keep his mouth shut. Still reeling from when his abusive father left, he’s stayed firmly in his shell, admiring Kelsey from afar for years, and only speaking when necessary. He’s gorgeously handsome, highly intelligent, creative, and handy in any kind of building project or emergency. When he comes to Kelsey’s aid during the hurricane, his world gets turned upside down when he agrees to help her with the show and finally gets the chance to develop a relationship with the outgoing Kelsey. But, when a slick weatherman comes to town and the show they’ve been preparing is in danger, he has to choose whether to give into fear or speak up.

I loved Kelsey and Levi! Both had fears and past hurts holding them back. I loved the way they helped each other work through those tough things. Levi is such a thoughtful, empathetic man. I enjoyed his mentoring a young boy named Dustin, his steady hand in an emergency, and the way he gives Kelsey the wings to fly. He’s one of those quiet, unsung, wounded heroes you just need to hug. I loved Kelsey too. She’s the perfect match for Levi and helps him get out of his shell. I loved her energy, enthusiasm, and sweet personality. Their first kiss was amazing!

Loved the beautiful, slow burn romance, the fun side characters like the town’s lovable busybody, and the whole premise of the story. I quickly fell in love with the town and now can’t wait to go back and pick up the previous books. There’s a bit of suspense towards the end when several things collide to threaten the show. The ending is fantastic and I especially enjoyed the epilogue.

Highly recommend the audiobook version! The narrator is Canadian and I loved hearing that subtle Canadian accent. She voices both Levi and Kelsey perfectly along with all the other characters. She really made this book come alive and I enjoyed her performance.

If you enjoy contemporary romance with a touch of faith, I highly recommend this book. Though part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are completely my own and voluntarily given. 4 1/2 raised to 5.

Summer in the Spotlight by Liz Johnson is third in the Prince Edward Island Shores, but is a stand alone novel. Kelsey Ahern is the high school drama teacher who is losing her job because the local theater was damaged. She decides to do a benefit production to raise money for the theater. Levi Ross is the quiet school facilities director at the high school and agrees to help her. Levi has cared for Kelsey for a long time.

This was a sweet, and beautiful story. Levi and Kelsey were kind, broken, and lovable characters who changed and grew throughout the story. I enjoyed escaping to Prince Island for the conclusion of the series, and the Ross family including Mama Potts get a happy ending. It was a pleasure to visit with the other islanders and see the community support for the Ross family while watching the play, stage, and benefit come together. The themes of family, justice, and forgiving yourself were beautifully woven into the story.

The beautiful setting, wonderfully developed characters, and themes added to this fantastic story. I highly recommend Summer in the Spotlight. I am sad to leave Prince Edward Island, but look forward to the author’s future stories.

I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.

I could not wait to read Levi’s story. I first met him in an earlier Prince Edward Island Shores novel, and he had my heart right away. When Levi talks, everyone knows it’s because he has something important to say. A man of few words seems rare these days, and it made me love him all the more. Levi can fix anything and has the biggest heart. There doesn’t seem to be a selfish bone in his body. As Kelsey gets to know him better she gets a glimpse of what kind of man he is. But will she see past her busy life to catch the one thing worth living for. A man that will fight for your dreams as if they are his own. Sigh…

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romance. I had so much fun reading this book and can’t wait to see what Liz Johnson comes up with next. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I was so excited to return to the island of PEI and spend more time with Ross family, in particular Levi. He is the youngest brother and very quiet but will do anything for those he loves. Kelsey and Levi have known each other since they were teens but were not really friends. A storm forces them together and they get to know each other a bit better. Through circumstances, they begin working together on Kelsey's project to save the town playhouse. I loved how Kelsey fought for what she believed in, and Levi worked hard to support her. I enjoyed getting to know these characters and watching their relationship develop. I do think Levi needed to speak a bit more at various times, but I could understand why he was so quiet. I loved how he mentored Dustin. I got very annoyed with a certain character and couldn't believe that they would back out at the last minute. When you've made a commitment, stick to it! I was so proud of Levi when he stood his ground and spoke up to another character. It showed just how much he loved those around him. It was fun to spend more time with the whole family, I loved that Eli and Oliver were actively involved in this story. I fully enjoyed the slow romance build-up, and it wrapped up nicely for the whole family we have gotten to know through this series.

Although this is the third and final book in the series, it is the first book that I have read by this author, so I can recommend it as a standalone. The book centers around a hurricane that destroys the local playhouse and the woman who is determined to rebuild it in order to honor her grandmother. Kelsey has a lot to say about the importance of the arts and enlists the help of mostly silent and thoughtful Levi to do a fundraiser to rebuild. There is another man in the picture who is covering the aftermath of the hurricane for his weather channel, but he is a secondary character who does try to charm Kelsey, but she is too focused on her goal of establishing a new playhouse and doesn’t really notice Levi or the weatherman who wants to pursue her. This is a clean contemporary romance with all the good feels of a small town and people who pitch in to help each other. I loved the characters, the intriguing plot and the sweet, blossoming romance. This book was delightfully readable and a warm romance with some laugh out loud moments between the two main characters who are so totally different from each other. There was a little intrigue, a lot of characterization and plenty to love about this book that was heartfelt and showed the author’s love for the Prince Edward Island setting.

Wonderful finale to the series.

Even if I never venture to the shores of Prince Edward Island, Liz Johnson has provided a wonderful fictional escape with this series. In this final book, the author gives her readers the much anticipated story of the youngest Ross brother. Levi has hovered on the horizon, silent and mysterious. Enter the wonderfully vivacious Kelsey Ahern. A heroine who will charm Levi to reach outside of his comfort zone as the two lead the mission to resurrect the hurricane damaged theater.

Ms. Johnson's books are full of local flavor, romance, but most importantly, stories of family. The Ross family is one of the fictional families who have found a permanent place in my heart. With a subtle faith thread, the theme of acceptance and unconditional love is woven into a memorable heartwarming conclusion.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher through Netgalley. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I requested to read and review this book through Revell Reads program. The following are my own opinions and freely given. I am not required to give a positive review.

When I asked for this book I wasn't sure if it was a sequel book or not but was pleasantly surprised that it was a following book from one I had read earlier, Beyond the Tides, Prince Edward Island Shores book 1. After reading this book, book 3, I wish I had read the second book. This book really kept my interest and the characters felt mostly real.

The story flowed very well and the characters were quite well developed. This is a Christian fiction but there was no hint of anything at all Christian until the last half of the book. So, it is definitely not preachy.

The editing was very well done. Nothing to interfere with the reading. This book kept my interest so well that I finished it quite quickly. I think if you enjoy clean, modern fiction you will enjoy this book.

I give this a solid 4-star rating and would recommend it to my friends.

Summer in the Spotlight is the third and final book in the Prince Edward Island Shores series. While I think you might have a better understanding of Levi's family dynamics if you've read the previous books in the series, I do think that this would also read just fine as a standalone too. That said, this series is wonderful, and I'd certainly recommend reading them all!

This book focuses on the last of the Ross brothers- Levi... and he might just be my favorite of the three! More than anything, this is probably because I relate to him in many ways as I've had similar struggles with speaking out loud (though mine was worse as a child, and not related to anything traumatic as Levi's is). This drew me into the story right away, but it was definitely the story that kept me there. It quite literally started off with a bang--- in the form of a hurricane! When the hurricane destroys the theater and threatens Kelsey's job, she and Levi work together to help save it. I just adored these two together. They both have their share of issues to work through, but I really enjoyed seeing their growth throughout the story... both as individuals and together. I couldn't help but root for them.

While I was definitely sad to see this great series end, this was truly a great way to wrap it up!

Summer In The Spotlight
Liz Johnson
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kelsey Ahern has spent most of her summers performing at the Victoria Playhouse on Prince Edward Island alongside her grandmother. When a hurricane destroys the building, it impacts not only the upcoming summer season, but also her future as drama teacher at the local school. With the help of Levi Ross, Kelsey is determined to put on a benefit show that will raise money to rebuild the theater that holds so many memories for her.

This was the concluding book of Liz Johnson’s Prince Edward Island Shores series and wrapped up the stories of the three Ross brothers. We learned Levi’s history and the heartbreaking reason behind his self-imposed silence. Levi is known for his compassion and quiet strength as well as his longstanding feelings for the engaging Kelsey. Their story is refreshing and brings a smile to the face. Johnson crafted a wonderful story with two delightful main characters while illustrating the godly principle of thinking before we speak and the power of words to speak life or death over people. This was a satisfying conclusion to the series and we highly recommend ending the summer on the shores of Prince Edward Island.

We received an advance copy from the publisher. This is our honest review.

“They could only afford for one of them to lose it at the sight of blood. Kelsey had called dibs” (location 253). I have loved all of Liz Johnson’s PEI books. She has a way of taking someone with trouble in their past and helping them face it and grow in a believable, grace-filled way. The people in her books are amazing! I would love to go to PEI and meet Mama Potts and see a play in the theater house.

I also really like when someone notices the person who is often overlooked and sees their value. It’s beautiful. I appreciated the sentiment of doing hard things for those we love.

I really liked Levi’s character. He doesn’t speak much. But he conveys a lot through his actions. When he does put a few words together, people stop and listen. He is full of compassion and understanding. He’s a good friend and brother. I loved learning more about him.

This is a great read and can be read as a standalone but do yourself a favor and start with book 1 in the Prince Edward Island Shores series. I’d highly recommend it. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own

Summer in the Spotlight - Liz Johnson - 4 Stars - Clean, Christian Contemporary Romance

A cute summer romance between Levi and Kelsey, with a little bit of family drama and a goal to restore the local theater that gets damaged as an aftermath of the hurricane that Levi rescues Kelsey in! I really enjoyed this one. My favorite parts were the beginning with Levi rescuing Kelsey from the hurricane aftermath and them all working together to save and rebuild the theater. Levi is rough around the edges and doesn't talk much, but he really grows in this story. Kelsey experienced some good growth as well - specifically surrounding hospitals and her fear of seeing blood. It was just a super cute, clean, small town romance that I enjoyed. While I wish we had more faith in this book, it was overall very sweet and cute.

I think anyone who loves the setting of Prince Edward Island would also really enjoy this. We got to see all the Ross brothers, their significant others and Mama Potts again - that was great. Levi and Kelsey had known each other for a long time but only recently started being close friends as the hurricane they experienced forced them together. I love the small town vibe here with all of our characters together (Eli, Levi, Oliver).

Kelsey was such a great character for me, she really had this drive that she was never going to give up on what she believed in - the theater, her job, her community - everything was so important to her.

I was a bit frustrated with the added character of the weatherman, he was a bit frustrating with what he was doing - he had no loyalty to anyone there - but it made sense for the story line in the end. My need for a happy ending across all sides also made me wish for more of resolution with their father too, but I understand that what happens is actually pretty realistic in many families - no matter how sad it can be and sometimes you have to move on and protect your family at all costs.

Overall, this series has been fun to read and I recommend to anyone who likes a cute, clean romance series that features brothers in each different book. Someone who has a love for theater will really enjoy this story as well! Thank you to Revell and Baker Publishing for providing a copy to honestly read and review.

What a treat to return to Prince Edward Island for the third book in Liz Johnson’s Prince Edward Island Shores series! I’ve been anxiously awaiting Levi Ross’s story and wondering if he was going to get his happy ending. Levi is quiet, unassuming, compassionate, and willing to help others. He has also admired Kelsey Ahern for many years. When Kelsey’s job is in jeopardy because of a destructive hurricane, Levi steps up to help raise money to rebuild the theater. I enjoyed seeing their relationship change and Levi’s confidence grow as they work together.

This is a well-written story with engaging characters set against the colorful backdrop of Prince Edward Island. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy clean and wholesome contemporary Christian fiction.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from Revell. All opinions are my own.

You gotta love it when the hero of the story is the strong and silent type :) And Levi Ross is a man of few words but with a huge heart.

A huge storm wrecks the playhouse where Kelsey has performed for years with her late grandma. It will cost too much to fix and this also means that the drama program where Kelsey works, will close. With all of this swirling around her, it is natural that she turns to someone kind to help her out and that person seems to be Levi. Unbeknownst to Kelsey, Levi has been in love with her since their school days. I personally think that Levi would help out where he could anyway :)

Unfortunately for Levi, his deadbeat dad makes an appearance at exactly the wrong time and this throws a spanner in works in various ways.

A lovely, gentle story of love, friendship and faith.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Revell.
