A convoluted story about a young girl that goes missing from her house. Her family and her neighbors have secrets and all are suspects. I didn’t relate or like any of the characters. I had trouble keeping track of the characters and didn’t care about them. I am not a fan of the ending either. |

Good mystery. Likable characters and unlikable characters. Didn’t know where the book would end up. Read it quickly to find out the end. Enjoyed the ride! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the DRC. |

While I really enjoyed the story line of this book, I felt it was hard to see if from a 9 year old. If the main character was older, this book would be a 5 star for me! |

A hallmark of a great author is how they can convince the reader to become invested in the storylines of truly unlikable characters. I think, by turns, I loathed almost every character presented by Lapena during the course of reading "Everyone Here is Lying." Still, she managed to keep me on the very edge of my seat and I devoured this novel as though I had been starved for weeks. Every twist, every reveal, THE ENDING! "Everyone Here is Lying" is an absolute bombshell of a novel and will be the thriller I recommend to everyone for the remainder of the year. Shari Lapena sets the stage for an unbelievable domestic thriller when we open with William Wooler cheating on his wife. When his affair partner abruptly ends their relationship, he goes home desperate for some peace and quiet as he tries to regroup. Instead he finds his difficult 9 year old daughter, Avery, waiting. She's been sent home from chorus practice *again.* William loses his temper, does something he regrets, flees the house, and pretends as though he hasn't been home. Hours later his wife calls with the news that Avery is missing. William's lies might prove to be just the tip of the iceberg in the seemingly perfect neighborhood his family calls home. The longer Avery remains missing, the more secrets begin to emerge from behind the bright white houses up and down their road, each more unhinged than the last. Special thanks to Pamela Dorman Books and to NetGalley for providing an Advanced Reader's Copy of "Everyone Here is Lying" in exchange for an unbiased review!! |

I hate to say it, but this wasn't my favorite of Shari Lapena's books. The plot - a mother with a mysterious past - drags a bit, and the big reveal isn't so big. But it is good mind candy for the summer. |

Everyone here IS lying, that's for sure. There were tons of twists and turns to this story - some predictable and some not so much. Everyone has secrets. Everyone suspects everyone else. The thing you'll remember about Everyone Here is Lying is THE ENDING! There's not one! Sure, you run out of pages to read, but how does the story resolve itself? We may never know. If you can live with this sort of unfinished business, this book is readable. |

I absolutely devoured this book! I read it in two days - I could not put it down. This was actually my first Shari Lapena book and now I definitely want to read some of her previous books. I was hooked from the explosively dark first chapter. I knew I was in for a wild ride, with some seriously juicy drama. I typically say that I don’t care much for the suburban family subgenre, but this book might make me change my stance on that. It’s chalked full of complex family and relationship dynamics. I was hooked and completely invested. It’s dark, creepy, and sinister. The title is so on the nose. Literally every single person in this book is lying or hiding something. And it was the most enthralling roller coaster trying to figure it all out. Trust no one! I can’t even express how much I loved getting thrown into the thick of it from the very beginning. This is how I want all of my thriller reads to be. I’m not a fan of slow-build, I want gripping through and through. And this totally delivered. The pacing was perfection to me. Y’all… the very last chapter!?!? Omg… I’m shook. I want to help get this book the hype it so deserves. I highly recommend it to all mystery/thriller readers. Even to any reader who is looking to get into or try the genre, this is a great one to start with. |

Shara LaPena always knows how to write a good thriller and this one is no exception. A neighborhood is turned upside down when a nine-year old girl disappears, and everyone is a suspect. A good thriller that keeps the suspense up throughout the book with some good twists and turns. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. |

A child goes missing and everyone is a suspect. Everyone in the neighborhood is hiding something. What happens will throw you for a loop. Shari Lapena always keeps you guessing until the very end! |

Nothing special really happened in this book. It was a bit boring compared to her other books. I was very underwhelmed. |

Avery is a difficult child. After walking home alone, which she isn't supposed to do, she goes missing. Where is she and what has happened to her? Everyone on the street will get caught up in the dragnet in the effort to find Avery and what led to her disappearance. Fans of domestic suspense will enjoy this somewhat convoluted mystery. |

Avery Wooler is a 9 year old girl who goes missing one afternoon after having an argument with her father, William. The police have many different suspects, including her father and her best friend's brother. An anonymous phone call a day after Avery's disappearance reveals a new suspect. No one is innocent and everyone is lying. Can the police find out what happened to Avery, and will she be found alive? I love Shari Lapena. She always writes the best mysteries! I highly recommend this book and will be sharing it with all my friends! |

A successful and seemingly wonderful family man is thrown into a parent’s worst nightmare in this fascinating and twisty novel by LaPena. William Wooler, his wife and 2 children, seem to be the perfect all-American family until their daughter Avery’s apparent kidnapping. Then it seems that the Wooler family, and everyone in their circle, including his married mistress, have secrets that slowly come to the surface. Where is Avery? Could she have just run away? After all, she is a very volatile, manipulative and troubled nine-year-old. When a neighborhood woman points the finger at the teenaged son of Nora, William’s lover, could it be a game of revenge by her hurt and angry husband? No one is who they seem, including Avery, and this excellent novel will have you shaking your head as the horrifying truth is revealed. |

I was so excited to read this book, and it did not disappoint AT ALL! Truly Shari is an amazing author! Just like in her previous stories, it grabs you from the first page and you just can’t put it down! I loved all the suspense. The twists and turns were done so well! If you’ve never read any of her books you MUST! The ending was so satisfying, the main characters are believable and relatable. This book was a little different from her other novels but that made it so fresh, exciting, and fun to read. I can't wait to see what Shari Lapena comes up with next. |

The pacing of this book was excellent. From the beginning, you understand that the characters are messy and it is slowly revealed how tangled the web actually is. This explored abuse, small town dynamics, and family secrets in a dark yet engrossing way. |

I wasn't expecting the abuse aspect of this read, and I'm never really a fan of that in what I read (unless it's like a literary exploration of that--definitely not a thriller). The writing was fine, and I found myself pretty compelled by the other aspects of the story. I think my biggest issue with this, honestly, was that it was not anything new. Another domestic thriller about a small town and kidnapping that could be interesting, if not for it being a fairly typical thriller plot with typical plot devices. Overall, entertaining but not novel enough to be memorable at all. |

This one was a bit of a miss for me. It’s never entertaining to read books about horrible parents and people hitting their kids, so it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Writing was good and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It never gets boring, that’s for sure. |

Nine year old Avery is missing. As the search for her begins, secrets start bubbling to the surface. It seems that everyone is a suspect and no one seems to be telling the truth. There are fingers being pointed all over the neighborhood. Will the truth come out in time for Avery to be found alive and well? I was hooked from early on with this one…it’s hard not to be. You have an affair, abuse, kidnapping, and that’s just the start of it. Lapena can spin a story and I’m here for each and every one! |

Just loved the latest book from Shari Lapena. It’s a fast-moving story that shows how 2 people’s actions can have a shattering effect on a small community. Everyone is either lying or hiding the truth and a search for a missing girl is hindered. It makes you think how easily people can be manipulated and not just by adults. I loved the ending too. |

While I didn't necessarily enjoy these characters' values or the way they treated each other, I did really enjoy this book!! So here's what I would say - if you don't like books with characters who lie a lot - don't read this one. The title tells you all you need to know. |
