Peg and Rose’s second hilarious adventure is not to be missed! When Peg’s new boyfriend is the murder victim of a hit and run, Peg and Rose decide to unmask the killer. Hijinks ensue.
The plot is well crafted, the mystery leaves you guessing until the end, and the banter between Peg and Rose makes for a perfect cozy mystery.

I love Laurien Berenson’s mystery series featuring Melanie Travis and was thrilled when she decided to do a spin-off series featuring her Aunt Peg and Peg’s unlikely pairing with her ex-nun sister-in-law Rose as amateur sleuths. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Senior Sleuth series and I liked this second book, Peg and Rose Stir up Trouble even more. Peg and Rose really do make a great sleuthing pair – seemingly quite different but in many ways they are alike and – while they have their share of squabbles, they clearly care for each other. The mystery is well done with a topical subject – someone murders a con man who had fleeced money from unsuspecting women – and offers just the right amount of suspects to keep a reader guessing whodunit. I have to say I was quite surprised and a bit sad when the identity of the killer was revealed. Very well done by Berenson.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.

Peg and Rose are at it again when they stir up trouble in book 2 of Laurien Berenson’s Senior Sleuths series. Nothing gets past these 2 and that includes clues. In this second book Rose takes the lead in solving the current murder. Not that Peg has stood back and handed Rose the ranes.

No not by a long shot. In fact they are still arguing over who’s going to drive. When Peg joins a dating site and is smitten with a handsome suitor things aren’t the way it seems. Someone has it in for Nolan Abercrombie. Enough to kill him! Who would do such a thing to such a charming man? Peg and Rose aim to find out who and why someone wanted him dead.

I so enjoyed book one, Peg and Rose Solve a Murder that I couldn’t wait for book two to be available. I liked it better than book one if that is possible. Laurien’s books seem to only get better and better. I like that these two sleuths can put aside their differences and work together to solve murders and bring whodunits to justice. The book is humorous, edge of seat a time or two and unpredictable. I thought every suspect was capable of murder but I couldn’t begin to figure out which one actually killed Nolan. I thought the book was a page turner and hard to put down. I loved it and hope there will be a book three in the future.

I highly recommend this book to readers of Cozy Mystery Fiction and fans of the Author. This book could be read as a standalone. To better understand Peg and Rose I recommend reading book one first. This book is scheduled to be released on 7/25/23.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions about the book expressed here in this review are entirely my own.

This has quickly become a favorite series. Peg and Rose are gradually finding common ground after decades of, at best, indifference. At worst? Dislike is a polite way of describing it. Oh, don't get me wrong. They are still finding their way as family. Peg is direct, opinionated, and loves her standard poodles. Rose, a former nun, is more easy going and easily likable but doesn't even like dogs....or didn't. There are signs that might be changing, not to mention Rose has come to adore the kitten Peg gave her in the last book.

So, Peg is thawing. Then Rose tries to help. Happy in her marriage to a former priest and running a shelter for women in need, Rose signs Peg us for a mature dating service. Peg didn't throttle her, giving Rose hope that Peg might find the same loving relationship she currently has and that Peg had with her late husband, Rose's brother. Her intentions are good. Amazingly enough, after a few miserable dates/meetings, Peg finds a man who interests her. Nolan seems wonderful. But, is he? Before Peg really gets to really know him, however, Nolan is killed in an accident. Or, was it an accident? Turns out Mr. Wonderful may not have been as wonderful as he appeared on the surface.

You know the ol' saying about when something seems too good to be true? Seems Nolan has left a string of disgruntled women behind. Why are they disgruntled? Well, you're just going to have to read the book to find that out. Can Peg and Rose join forces once again without wanting to strangle each other? There is no shortage of suspects, unfortunately, so bet you spend as much time guessing as I did.

And, you'll enjoy every moment of it. Even niece Melanie Travis (main character of the series this one springs from) pops in, asking for Peg's assistance. The characters are nicely fleshed out and the side-stories let us see another side of not just Peg and Rose but the shelter assistant/maid/cook, Maura, and Peter, Rose's husband. Rose's confidence as a senior sleuth may be growing but she has her hands in several other things. It's been fascinating to watch the shelter story evolve and grow at the same time Rose and Peg are growing as family. It all comes together as a standalone.

Bottom line, if you like a wonderfully written, interesting mystery with people you might know -- even when at times rolling your eyes at their behavior -- give this one a read. Thanks #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks - #KensingtonCozies for letting me visit Peg and Rose again, not to mention spend some time with Marmalade the cat and all those gorgeous poodles.

Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble by Laurien Berenson is book #2 in the Senior Sleuths Mystery series. Peg and Rose sure know how to get into lots of trouble when they get together to investigate murders. In this book the murder of the man Peg met through an online dating site that Rose insisted Peg sign up for catches their attention. I love the relationship these two have. The bickering is amusing and it always turns out they have each other's back and really do care about each other. This was a fun read and a great addition to the series.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first book in this new series, Peg and Rose Solve a Murder, and I love this one even more! Peg and Rose are ladies of a certain age and sisters-in-law. They have never gotten along with each other in the decades in which they have been related by marriage. In the first book in this series they tentatively attempt to forge a relationship with each other. As Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble begins, their relationship is not close, but it is beginning. Rose convinces Peg to sign up on an online dating site. After some misses, Peg finds a man who is fun to be with. However, after only three dates he is killed. Peg and Rose attempt to figure out why, while avoiding the same fate themselves!

This book is a light-hearted bunch of fun and I love the interplay between the two main characters! Highly recommend!

Not realizing there had been a Peg and Rose story before this one, I quickly requested it because it sounded too humorous to pass up. And I was not disappointed. And really, in case you’re like me and also haven’t read the first one, you’ll be able to jump right in.

Peg and Rose are about as opposite as they come in a lot of ways, and I loved seeing how Peg forces Rose to stretch a little. Out of her comfort zone. Way out into the world of internet dating. It isn’t long until Rose meets a Mr. Abercrombie who isn’t all he is cracked up to me. And, you know, hilarious sleuthing ensues.

Super fun, quick read!

Rose talks Peg into putting her profile on the Mature Mingle dating site. Though Peg is reluctant to jump back into the dating pool, she quickly meets a man who impresses her. But is Nolan Abercrombie as good as he seems? Turns out he's left a slew of victims in his wake as he's plowed through the website fishing for vulnerable women willing to trust him with their hard earned investments. When an evening walk goes wrong for old Nolan, Peg and Rose have their work cut out for them figuring out which one of the dozens of women he wronged finally got revenge.

I've been a big fan of the Melanie Travis series for years and I long hoped Berenson would start a new series. What's better than a new series? One that is an offshoot of a series you already know and love! Peg is a great character, she's gruff and harsh and demanding and underneath the hard shell she's got a warm heart that breaks through now and then. Rose is the polar opposite of Peg, warm and fuzzy on the outside and with a backbone of steel. The two women didn't speak for decades and are finally finding their way to a solid friendship.

Great mystery, wonderful characters, high stakes investigation, all against a background of poodles. I highly recommend this series to anyone who's a lover of cozies or dogs.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher and author for providing me with an ARC.

I have been waiting for this since I won and read the first last summer! Once I found out this one was in the making I checked almost every month for updates and then checked Netgalley and couldn't believe it was on there already. Thank you to Netgalley, publisher, and especially the author for letting me get my hands on this ARC. This is now one of my favorite cozy mystery series and I'm already ready for a 3rd! I will admit that it took me a couple of weeks to read, I apologize for taking so long to get it read and reviewed. I ended up in the high risk labor unit for a bit and couldn't focus enough to read while there.

Peg and Rose get into even more shenanigans in this one. With even more bickering back and forth, and even more cake. Rose makes Peg an online dating profile, a match for Peg ends up getting in a hit and run and they decide to solve the case themselves in this one. I love how their relationship is evolving so far and how they're getting closer. I really love Rose's growth and branching out on her own even more and taking lead from Peg in this one (whether she approves or not, lol). Melanie making an appearance also made me happy. I hope the next one has the summer camp for the kids tied in somehow too and we see what happens with that! Solving mysteries or not I'd read whatever Peg and Rose get up to. If you like breed specific dogs, cute cats named Marmalade, gardening, cake, or cozy mysteries with lots of laughs then this is for you!

Being a fan of the Melanie Travis series and also enjoying stories about more mature amateur sleuths, this was a must read for me. Sisters-in-law with not much in common try to get along.
Rose, a former nun, tells her tough minded relative that there is nothing wrong with finding companionship using a dating app. Neither is the most tech savy, and both are somewhat wary about who they may meet.
After a few ill fated dates, Peg thinks she may have found someone worthy of more attention.
It turns out hers may not be the only attention he seeks out or encourages!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to read more featuring these two women.

Love, love, love! Two of my favorite characters from the Melanie Travis mystery series solving their own mysteries! Opposite personalities working together, often competing to see who can one up the other. In the latest addition of Peg and Rose they solve the mystery of who killed a man in a hit and run. Why? Rose set up Peg on a dating website, and the one man Peg made a connection with…the victim. They soon discover he was not who he portrayed himself to be and are off on a great adventure.

Senior Sleuths with pets
Ms. Berenson’s sister-in-law senior sleuths again try to figure out who and why before Peg’s policeman friend can. Rose talks Peg into trying online dating, and Peg finds out about the seamier side of it. When her attractive match is murdered and Peg is getting the side eye, they jump into investigating with both feet.
The suspects are many, all with excellent reasons and the ladies look closely at each.
Fun engrossing read with an inside look at show dogs and the exhibitions.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC gratis to peruse and offer my opinion in the same

Peg and Rose are back! This is the 2nd book of the series and I loved it (but not as much as the first). This book picks up where the first one left off. I did have to do a little bit of re-reading of the first book to remember the full story. My favorite part of this book was the humor and all the animals! This is a very quick read that I would recommend reading in one sitting! I hope the author continues this series!

Sisters-in-law Rose and Peg have always had a difficult relationship. So difficult, in fact, that they didn't speak to each other for over 30 years. Now that Peg's husband Max has died, the two women have begun to thaw their frosty friendship. Rose, a former nun, left the convent to marry Peter, a former priest. Together with their cook/housekeeper Maura, the couple operate Gallagher House, a women's shelter. Peg keeps busy as a judge at dog shows, something that Rose can't comprehend as all the dogs look alike to her. Feeling that Peg should look for human, rather than predominantly canine, companionship, Rose convinces her to put a profile up on the dating website Mature Mingle. Peg is skeptical, but open to the idea. She soon finds a man that seems to good to be true, Nolan. As she and Nolan get to know each other, Rose cautions her to be careful. Her advice isn't needed as soon after they begin dating, Nolan is dies in a hit and run accident. When Peg and Rose notice nearly all the mourners at his funeral are women around their same age, they decide to look closer into Nolan's life and the circumstances of his death.

The story was very cute and Peg's fascination with dogs and dog shows was obvious. The differences between the women provided an interesting contrast as they battled each other (in a gentle way) while searching for the truth. The one thing that was a bit strange was how Rose was so open and eager to tell everyone she met about the women's shelter she ran and where it was. I thought that information needed to be kept secret for everyone's sake??? Other than that small issue, the story was good fun.

Peg and Rose are back in the second installment of the “Senior Sleuths” series by Laurien Berenson! I loved this book even more than the first! It was fast paced, hilarious, suspenseful and full of adorable animals.
Peg and Rose Stir up Trouble picks up where the first book left off and Rose is signing Peg up for online dating (much to Peg’s displeasure). Of course there is a murder that derails Peg’s dating plan - but this means that the crime solving duo is back on the case!
This book was an absolute hoot and I already want to read the next book!

Peg finally agrees to get back into the dating pool at Rose’s urging. By golly, even though she doubted it, Peg is matched with Nolan and he seems to be a perfect fit. But then, just as quickly as she clicked with Nolan, he has an accident and is gone.

But Peg doesn’t believe it was an accident, so she and Rose are going to find out who took Nolan out. Can the sisters in law solve the case or will they be following Nolan?

I love these two ladies. They’re spunky and as your read their interactions, you can see someone you know who fits each of them…and that’s what scares me as I get older…though these two could make me change mind about getting older. A great mystery and the second in this series…with many more to come, I hope.

3.75/5 stars! This is the second book in the "Senior Sleuths" series and it was honestly a whimsical and delightful quick read. The writing has a refreshing way of writing from the perspective of older characters while still keeping them 3-dimensional. I enjoyed Peg and Rose had me cackling out loud throughout the story.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

I don't usually read cozy mysteries but I loved the cover and synopsis for "Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble." Loved the friendship between the two women, their online dating adventures, and the dog show. Highly recommended for a fun, light read full of heart and humor. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I recieved a free eARC of this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

Laurien Berenson is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. This book is the second in a spin off series from her Melanie Travis dog mysteries, focusing on Peg, the widowed dog show judge and poodle breeder, who features heavily in the Melanie Travis series, and Rose, a former nun who, along with her husband, runs a women's shelter. It would not be necessary to read earlier books to enjoy this series, but the background would be helpful

When Rose decides to sign Peg up for a dating service for senior adults, she had only the best intentions in mind, however, when Peg's date is killed suddenly, the two sisters try to figure out what happened. Like the earlier Peg and Rose book, a lot of the humor and conflict comes in the difference between two sisters who are both alike...and different. The mystery progresses at a satisfactory place and comes to a logical conclusion,

There are some minor mentions of sexual relationships between consentual adults, with no graphic content. This book would be appropriate for teen/YA readers who enjoy mysteries. The adult protagonists and setting may be less relatable to teen readers, but those who have read the Melanie Travis books, especially, will likely find it enjoyable.
