Thanks NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for this arc!

4/5 stars

I really enjoyed this! It was a quick and easy read for me, a great palate cleanser between books. It has cute chemistry between Asa and Lauren, cozy holiday vibes, and good representation!

This was such a flop for me. Coming off the high that was this authors previous book I read and enjoyed I was so letdown by this one.

The characters had zero chemistry, they felt very flat and the plot just got away from me. I remember putting it down for other books so many times and just ultimately not enjoying it. Sad days.

Thank you to the publisher for the copy!

A superb storyteller, Ms Thompson takes her time to build the sexual and emotional tension between her characters, giving them time to learn about each other, making their feelings for one another evolve before our very eyes, and giving us a hundred little moments in between that make our hearts skip a beat.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

This was great.

Romances are such a hit or miss lately, but this is a hit.

The development of their relationship feels so realistic and it is so well done. The characters are also pretty fleshed out.

With love, from Cold World was so tender and beautifully written. I could picture the world of Lauren the hard working bookkeeper, why she crushed so hard on Daniel I'll never know (jk I've been there girl!). But my man Asa!!! our spicy cutie with the colorful hair, I love him so so much and he is now on my ever growing shelf of book boyfriends. I loved every minute of this book and I can't wait to read what Alicia writes next!

This was a solid follow up to Love in the Time of Serial Killers. In many ways it felt more like a traditional romance than Thompson's first book did. I believed in their relationship and wanted them to figure it all out. I do feel like we spent too much time on Daniel - and I really just needed Lauren to have some self worth but I did enjoy it over all and will probably continue to pick up Thompson's books.

This cute little story, about two people with a lot of baggage and family drama, left me with a smile on my face. Loved the Cold World setting (has this writer never heard of Santa's Village??), and the ways in which the main characters overcame their sad/tragic home life backstories - and not only overcame, but actually did things to make life better for other kids who were in their positions. I was definitely rooting for Asa and Lauren to get it together.

As a queer bisexual who was kicked out of the church, Asa's story hit so close to home. But I think that's what made this book so much more special to me. Thompson's way of storytelling is truly showcased in this book. With Love, from Cold World is a truly spectacular story. I know I'll be rereading it for years to come.

Alicia Thompson has done it again. I absolutely loved Love In The Time Of Serial Killers, so I was so excited to read this book.

This story follows two coworkers who must work together to save Cold World - an indoor winter wonderland in Florida. This was the perfect book to read around this time, it felt so festive and gave off Christmas vibes.

I absolutely loved Asa and Lauren in this book, they have a bumpy relationship at first but it’s adorable seeing the chemistry evolve over time. I’m a sucker for dual POV in romances and it was done so well in this one, each character had something interesting about them.

Asa is bisexual and I think the LGBTQ+ rep in this was perfectly written. I loved his character so much, he was such a sweet and lovable character. The slow-burn romance was out of this world with its snarky banter. I found myself giggling throughout this book.

Also, the setting in this was phenomenal. It gave off Disneyworld vibes but with a wintery touch to it. It was so fun and perfect for the story. I honestly couldn’t put this book down, the audiobook was fantastic.

I can’t express how much I loved this book and the feelings I felt upon finishing it. Alicia has a way of writing such lovable characters and touching stories. I would highly recommend checking this one out!

Thank you so much NetGalley and Berkley for the review copy and PRH Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!

I picked up Alicia Thompson’s WITH LOVE, FROM COLD WORLD (Berkley, 400 pp., paperback, $18) after hearing raves from people whose tastes tend to mesh with mine. And they were right: This tale of sparring co-workers at a winter-themed tourist attraction in Florida (Lauren: restrained and precise; Asa: charming and secretly sensitive) is one of the most perfect books I’ve read this year.

Did I binge read this? Yes, yes I did. This book had LAYERS!! I was so emotionally attached to Asa and Lauren. This book was emotional and loving. And the workplace romance was a plus.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC!

I fell in love with Lauren and Asa. What started as a childish rivalry bloomed into a beautiful love story. The more time these two spent together, the more they got to know each other... and it allowed us to get to know them better as well. The dual POVs here were necessary. I don't think I would have enjoyed this book nearly as much if the story was told solely from Lauren's point of view.

I also really appreciated the fact that Alicia Thompson included important discussions. I rarely read books where the characters have lived through the things mentioned in this book, and while some could say that it makes it a heavier, less fun romance, I have to disagree. I think it was perfectly dosed. Yes, the characters carry some trauma. But it wasn't mentioned in a way that made the story sad or depressing. I think it just allowed our two main characters to connect on a deeper, more emotional level.

I really enjoyed this book and I'll be sure to read more of Alicia Thomspon's work in the future!

Loved this second book from Alicia Thompson just as much if not more than Love in the Time of Serial Killers.

Workplace romance, enemies/rivals to lovers. Grumpy/sunshine (with the MMC being the sunshine).

I’m also a sucker for an Orlando setting as a fellow central florida resident (I loved the digs at our terrible public transportation situation. It’s true!).

Come for the banter and Christmas-time vibes and stay for the slow healing and tender, gooey romance

Alicia Thompson does it again with this second novel. Being from Florida, it's nice to see all the local type things portrayed in this book. The romance was amazing, characters were relatable, and I can't wait to read more from this author. I was able to record a review for the Feminist Book Club.

This was technically a dnf but I made it over 50% in so I feel like I can still review it. I loved this authors debut but this one just didn’t work for me. This took me forever to get into and I felt absolutely no chemistry between the two characters. The setting was ok but I wish we got more of it. I’m sad this didn’t work for me

There's a reason Alicia Thompson has being a romcom favorite. WITH LOVE, FROM COLD WORLD was a rival coworkers, enemies-to-lovers romance that had me giggling and giddy the entire time. I'm a Christmas curmudgeon, yet absolutely loved this novel. It's heartfelt and sweet, the spicy scenes were A+, these characters all had substance. All in all, a fantastic read regardless of the season.

As being an Orlando, FL native want Cold World to exist in the real world as much as I like Frosty's but not going to the ICE bar on I-Drive.

Anyways back to the book, overall a sweet treat of a read. Loved Lauren, Asa, and all the roomies. Lovely to see the progression of Lauren and Asa's relationship with each other and within themselves. However the amount of miscommunication between the two was a little overwhelming. Kudos to Alicia for making me feel actual secondhand embarrassment for a fictional character and have to pause the book to recover during the drunk karaoke scene. Do wish got a resolution on Asa reconciling or not (valid) with some or all of this family. Definitely worth a read especially for the winter/Christmas season!

Oh, my heart. Lauren and Asa had so many wonderful things going for each other, if only they'd learn how to communicate. Miscommunication/lack of communication is one of my least favorite tropes, and unfortunately, Asa and Lauren had that in spades. They both had very valid reasons for acting the way they did, but it didn't make me want to shout at them through the book any less.

I truly enjoyed the premise of this book. Both the main characters as well as the supporting cast were all fun to read. It's not often that I can say I'd read a book featuring any of the secondary characters, but Thompson wrote some fantastic, fully fleshed out roommates and coworkers, and I could definitely see myself devouring any of their own stories.

With Love, from Cold World had one of those stories that was just easy for me to fall into. Asa and Lauren could easily be real people dealing with these very realistic situations while falling into a real-life romance with each other; there was no reaching to make their story believable.

I loved how fully realized both Asa and Lauren seemed to me. Their backstories, and the way the past influenced them in the present, was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. These were two very lost souls who were able to finally find their person. Self-sacrifice might as well have been both their middle names, and I felt their experiences to my core.

I think my only issue with the plot was how minimized the actual problems at Cold World seemed to be. The problem was introduced in a page, and was seemingly resolved within only a few sentences. The only reason there seemed to even be an issue at Cold World was just to further Asa and Lauren's relationship drama. The problem and quick resolution seemed to solely exist for the main couple's benefit, and it didn't seem to actually matter much to the plot. But, with solid writing that easily swept me into the story, great character building, and two main characters I just wanted to hug the whole book - whether they were actually communicating with each other or not - With Love, from Cold World was a solid four star read for me.
