The Sweetheart List is the fourth book in the Sunrise Cove series and it's a warm and sweet story about Harper who after some life challenges moves back to the place where she was happy. Of course there is a meet cute with Bodie and a cast of characters that can only be found in novels. Still this book is an entertaining way to spend the afternoon when you too just want a respite from the real world. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of The Sweetheart List in exchange for an honest review. It is on sale now for summer reading.

I'd like to thank Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager, Avon for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It has the feelings of a summer beach read. It is a sweet, feel-good romance set in a small town.

Harper looking for a fresh start in a place that she remembers brining her joy moves to Sunrise Cove to restart her life. Ivy looking for her family she didn't know about until recently and a place to belong. Bodie looking for happiness, even though he won't admit it, find each other. I loved how the characters found each other and watching their relationships grow.

This book is a keeper! Full of fascinating characters and a realistic plot. I was sorry when it ended. Bodie and Harper are perfect for each other and Ivy was so believable I wanted to take her in and adopt her myself. The entire Campbell family is a noisy, rambunctious mess and I loved them all. I plan on looking for more of this author’s books as she writes so well and so true to life. Even the dialogue is terrific, whether it be funny or serious.

I received an ARC for this novel but my opinions are my own.

In the Sweetheart List, Harper Shaw soon finds herself amidst having her dream and the unexpected; a sexy, grumpy Bodie Campbell, a new BFF including her fur baby, and finally, feels accomplished in a life well-chosen. , and when Ivy, a teenage runaway, another opportunity to help someone who needs her most, this feel-good story will have you routing right along. There are so many hallmark moments that resonate with the reader, including second chances and a new start.
The Sweetheart List is captivating from the moment we learn that Harper Shaw has left a toxic life behind her, to start anew after inheriting her late aunt’s estate. And with perfect timing, a new life begins…new career, new man, new BFF, and new chances. This was the first book I read by the author and look forward to reading more. Just stop it....This book got me all in my feels. Harper, Ivy, and Bodie were a pure chemical reaction made it heaven. The story progression and character growth was outstanding. There was a twist, that I should have seen, but didn't and I was so happy. Most stories have a predictable play out but this sent me on a little welcomed tailspin. This story made me feel good and wish I knew such genuine people. I connected with these characters and would 100% recommend this to others.

Harper is ready for a change, and she starts her new life in Lake Tahoe. She is determined to do what makes her happy now, and to fulfill her dream of opening a bakery. But when she gets to her new home, things do not come together as she thought they would. The weather is cold, the shop she has rented is not ready and the people are wary of newcomers. But Harper is not discouraged, she jumps in and begins to repair her shop, and start her new life. Her new shop begins to take shape, she meets new friends, and finds surprises along the way that touches her heart and the reader's.
A delightful book of new beginnings, new loves, and fulfilled dreams!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.

The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis was an entertaining and sweet small town love story, with a lot of layers and man did I love those layers.

After her boyfriend dumped her, Harper decided once and for all she was going to make herself happy so she picked up her life, signed a sight unseen lease on a space for a bakery, put her dog, Ham, in her car, and headed to Sunrise Cove; the last place she remembered being happy. What she didn’t expect was; snow in July, her bakery and apartment above it not to be ready and coming with some interesting inhabitants, a teenage runaway girl breaking in to sleep, or her landlord to spark something in her she doesn’t want to define.

From the moment Harper slid into Sunrise Cove, I loved her character and as her story evolved and I watched her befriend Ivy, who really needed someone on her side, I wanted to be her friend. She’s a good person with a good heart, but she’s also strong, fierce, and determined to make her dreams come true.

Then there is broody Bodie with a family who wants nothing more than for him to be the man they knew before he was hurt and left for dead, before his father died, and before he took everything on his shoulders. Normally Bodie wouldn’t give a damn if his new tenant wants to freeze staying in her new place without heating, but there’s something about Harper that made him want to help her, that needed to know she was safe. Add in the teenage runaway girl she took under her wing and he knew he was in trouble.

I adored Bodie and the fact that he cared way more than he let on in all things. He was dealing with a lot of guilt, with an injury that caused him pain daily, and with regrets he hadn’t quite gotten past. Yet, he loved his family fiercely even when they got on his nerves and it was easy to see that he’d do anything to protect those he cared about.

Jill Shalvis wrote and emotional and complicated story filled with intriguing characters that I’d love to meet. Friendships, family, and funny dialog plus a whole lot of love; The Sweetheart List is an excellent addition to this author’s body of work and one I know I’ll read again.

This is my first Sunrise Cove book, but I was happy to meet another quaint Shalvis small town. The Campbell family was lovely, and Harper had all the spunk you want in a heroine. I enjoyed the complexity that the teenage runaway Ivy added to the story. It was a solid romance, start to finish, and I can see spending more time with the folks of Sunrise Cove.

I enjoyed this book so much. The emotions poured off the pages and into my soul. I laughed and I cried. I felt all the angst and relished in all the witty banter. It had all the family drama from the good to bad. Harper is someone I want to be. She is understanding, loyal and worthy of the love she had been denied. Ivy was so brave and took my heart. I loved the brotherly love and all the families. They look out for each other and the loved showed throughout the book. This book had so many unique characters and I loved everyone. I highly recommend this book!

It was a good story. There were some very touching situations. I like small town stories and this story took place there.
It is a sweet romance of starting over.

I had never read from this author before when I received an advanced copy from NetGalley. I fell in love with the characters and town. Not only does the novel offer an overarching storyline of self-realization, but a romance subplot and, most surprisingly, themes of found family. I thoroughly enjoyed Ivy’s storyline and felt it added so much heart and depth to the story. For readers who enjoys small town romance, closed door, dual POV, found family, and restaurant/bakery settings.

I feel that this could be made into a Hallmark movie! It was so heartwarming and inviting that I felt like I was a part of their close knit family. I love a book like this!
I enjoyed this book to the fullest! Very entertaining to be sure!
Harper is a wonderful character. I love her big heart of gold!
She definitely made me drool over all the sweets in her bakery.
And big ol Hambone! What a sweetie! I laughed at his his antics and it seems that dogs and cats too seem to have a knack to know when their people needs them.
Bodies family cracked me up too. I loved seeing that big family interact with each other and getting on each other's nerves as siblings generally do.
I'm an only child myself so I enjoy seeing things like big families having close relationships and all.
The cover is gorgeous. It was what made me want to read it. I was looking for a little something different and I found it in this book.
Just a little reminder that secrets never stay hidden for long. Someone will always wonder at how things came about and all. This was my favorite part of the story was the secrets. They were what kept me reading until the very end! "Gasp" "sigh" are all included. What's not to love about this beautiful story?!
I saved the best quote for last because this actually made me laugh and cry at the same time if possible
From dad to Ivy
“You’ll always have a place with me, Ivy. I’ll fly you back and forth, whatever you want. But you have to promise me two things: One, no lying. And two, if you decide to leave here, which, for the record, won’t be because I want you to, you won’t just walk away without saying goodbye. No matter what. Because I’ll come for you, always. I need you to know you’re safe. That’s how family works.”
I wish that were true in all cases but this is nice to know that there can be hope offered out there somewhere. Time is the key word here. Takes time to trust, love and feel accepted.
I just adored this book.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Give me ALL OF THE FEELS. This book. This series. I think Harper's story has been my favorite and it took me on an emotional roller coaster I wasn't sure I needed this early in the summer.

Harper isn't content with her life and she desperately wants to feel happy again. She lands herself in Lake Tahoe (the last place she felt happy) to fulfill her dreams of opening a bakery. She was wildly unprepared for her rental space owner, Bodie. And likewise, Bodie wasn't prepared for a Harper in his life.

Add in a runaway teen, Ivy, and you have a recipe for an interesting book.

Secrets are kept and then discovered. There are brief feelings of betrayal, a good amount of mixed communication and finally some great realizations that result in a HEA.

Highly recommend this book (and you don't need to read the others in order.)

Cute story of starting over without lists! The caring and nurturing side comes through and gives me faith in humanity again, even if it’s just a story. Another grumpy hero who can ruin me any day, any week! I love me some Jill Shalvis and this one is another winner for me!!!

This was a lovely romance, set in a small town on Lake Tahoe. Harper, the protagonist is looking for a new start and adopts the “spark joy” mantra for her new life. She wants to start a bakery in this place from her childhood that holds happy memories.

Right away Harper encounters challenges. The weather, the condition of the property, the sexy bartender next door, and the homeless teen who needs someone to help. The story is well told and easy to read and qualifies as one of the best romances of the year. If that’s what you want, don’t miss this one!

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for the early copy!
