A Dragon and a Tiger. I always enjoy a new story in the ANCIENTS RISING SERIES. There is such a unique array of characters that just capture you heart.

Harlow and her family have made a home for themselves in New Orleans.

He realized he was growling aloud as the past consumed him and he forced the memory away, locked it up tight where it belonged.

Aodh is out for revenge on the person he thinks abandoned him. When secrets come to life they join forces to destroy the evil imprisoned him for years.

Before Axel could formulate any sort of answer, a very naked Aodh appeared out of thin air, picked up the guy who’d tried dancing with Harlow as if he weighed absolutely nothing and threw him down the street.

Fast paced adventure that you can’t put down. Read this one in one sitting that’s how good it was.

4 stars - It was really good

Before the Fall, tiger shifter Harlow worked in Black Ops with the man she loved, until he tried to kill her. She was forced to kill him first. Over fifteen years later he returns and is determined to get an answer about what happened.

I really loved this. I have been waiting for the tiger twin’s books for a while now and we got both of them in one go, which was a lovely surprise. Harlow is a fierce woman who had to kill the man she loved to save herself. Watching her realize that Aodh is still alive and that she wants another chance at happiness was so emotional and perfect. I loved seeing these two embrace their second chance with minimal angst and go all in.

"He was hers and she was his. No matter what happened, no matter what the universe threw their way, she was mated to the male she loved."

Aodh was a fierce and protective dragon. I loved that he respected Harlow’s abilities and supported her during missions. He never got pushy or tried to stop her from doing something dangerous, which is my favorite kind of alpha hero. Like I said, I loved how Aodh embraced his second chance and jumped all into winning Harlow over again once the truth about his imprisonment was revealed.

The witch that imprisoned Aodh was very interesting. Energy witches are a new paranormal for this world and they are very dangerous. The hunt for this witch was exciting and gave us another look at the fae realms. I like that we continue to get new paranormals and unique enemies in this series. Reus really has created some amazing characters and villains for this series.

This book gives us a second mating, which was a wonderful surprise. Brielle, Harlow’s twin, finds her mate in the fae realm while they are hunting the witch. She was a fascinating character and I really hope we learn more about her in future books because I want to see more of her abilities and their romance. Overall, this was another wonderful couple and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Trigger Warnings: Aodh was poisoned and imprisoned for years. Harlow believed she killed Aodh to protect herself and lived with the guilt of it; mass murder (including children) referenced;

Before 'The Fall', Harlow was part of a special ops shifter division in the Marines with her twin sister Brielle, close friend Axel and lover Aodh. That was until Harlow was forced to kill when Aodh turned on his team during a mission.

Aodh has spent the past fifteen years trapped in the basement of a castle in the Domincary realm. Prisoner to the serial killer witch his special ops team was hunting down. At first, Aodh thought his friends would save him but after fifteen years he has become bitter and angry he was left for dead. When the Fae attacked the castle, a breach in the force field containing him allowed him to escape his.

Unfortunately, things were not as they had seemed for Aodh and his friends. Now that they are back together they have the opportunity to set things right and get revenge against the evil witch that fooled them all.

In the first installment of the series 'Ancients Rising' we met Star and her misfit group of friends, this included Harlow, Brielle, and Axel. I fell hard for the entire group and was excited to finally get Harlow's story. This close knit group are more than friends; they are a family. All of them grew up together in a commune with their peace loving hippie parents. Counter to their parents way of life, each of them became a fierce warrior.

Since a group of rogue dragons attacked the major cities of the world in an attempt to take out humans, creating a time known as 'The Fall', the world has become a very different place. In New Orleans, Harlow and her friends have created a fair society where everyone can contribute while feeling safe. Harlow's past experience in the military allows her to take on the role of 'protector' for the territory and it's citizens. Aodh has also suffered greatly the past fifteen years. He missed the horrific battle, the struggle to survive, and the reinvention of society but he lived a half life, at times in an out of a dreamlike state, being drained of his energy, and under the belief he had been abandoned by his friends. I am happy both Harlow were able to reconnect and overcome their past. With all the struggles they have endured it is nice they get their happily ever after.

A quick read where we learn more about Harlow and the dragon she loved. It becomes very serious when she learns what has transpired over the last 15 years for Aodh and she gets answers to the question of why?

After finding those answers she must go on the hunt but her family won't let her go alone and we see how many people are working in the background for her too.

Meet new characters along with the regulars as you read this book in the series. I loved it.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Action, adventure, dragons, shifters and vampires - battling the ultimate evil witch. Whew! Does it get any better? Right, add in some dragonlings and true mate romance and you have another winner. Great series since they are all standalone in the same 'reality' with a great cast of characters. Read them all!

I’m really enjoying this series and always look forward to the next book.

This time it’s Harlow and the love she thought she’d killed.
Aodh has spent years trapped in the Fae realm. An energy witch feeding from him. Keeping her strong and him weak. But when the dragons attack Aodh is freed. And while he’s after vengeance and will see the witch dead. First he needs to find Harlow and find out why she deserted him.

This is another fab read. I love the world that’s been created here.

I just love me some Katie Reus, especially her paranormal stuff. The world(s) she's created are so vibrant and believable, that you just want to move in... well, to some of the territories anyway. The shifters and other paranormals who live in her books are funny, flawed, and perfect, and I always find myself falling in love with them. I love that there are so many characters in her Ancients Rising series, and the MCs of one are secondary characters in others, though I find it impossible to remember all their stories. You can read the stories as standalones, but there are also certain secondary romances or storylines that link them. And anyway, why wouldn't you want to read all of them since they're so fun?

We get tiger shifter Harlow's story here. It's a second chance romance, shifter style, with her former BF, dragon shifter Aodh (pronounced Ae, best I can figure) returning from the dead to claim her, even though he thought she'd abandoned him. He wasn't truly dead, obvi (or not obvi because paranormal), even though Harlow was sure she stabbed him pretty thoroughly 15 years ago. Turns out it was all the shenanigans of an evil energy witch, who'd captured Aodh and kept him prisoner to snack on. He actually had a cameo in another book, when he was rather accidentally freed by another powerful ancient. Don't ask me to remember which book (Ancient Something); I could look it up, but nah.

So they reunite, and the two-- along with Harlow's twin Brielle and lovelorn lion shifter Axel-- set out to find and destroy the evil bitc-- er, witch. The danger is interspersed with funny stuff and sexy times and more of Axel and vampire Christian not getting together (hopefully just yet).

Another winner by an author who is a must-read for me.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

I loved this book! Katie Reus’s Darkness and the related Ancients Rising series are two of my favorite paranormal/shifter series out there. Ancient Warrior is a wonderful addition to the series. We finally get Harlow’s story. In this book, we finally understand some of why tiger shifter Harlow has seemed sort of distant or aloof during previous books. She lost her love, dragon shifter Aodh, about 15 years before in a terrible way (trying to avoid spoilers). Needless to say, he is back, and you absolutely feel the wide range of emotions they both go through as Harlow and Aodh try to find their way back to one another. As always, while this book could probably be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading at least all of the other Ancients Rising books (if not the Darkness series), because of the characters and world building.

I received an advanced copy of this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

Ancient Warrior by K. Reus is book eight in the Ancients Rising Series. Every book in this series is a stand-alone.
This is Aodh and Harlow's story. The tiger shifter and the dragon were part of a spec ops, only what could go wrong did go wrong.
The mates were separated for many years, but now they have a new chance at hea.
A action packed, drama laden, second-chance story full of unexpected twists and turns with scorching hot scenes and astory that had me in suspense til the last page.

This is the 8th book of the series but one of my favorite so far. I love going back to the original gang from the first book. It has taken a while to get back to them but Harlow and her twin have always been intriguing. We get more back story on them as well as the dragon shifter Aodh ( I had to look up how to pronounce this--Gaelic is "AY" )

We see lots of flash backs but there is loving mayhem at the house in New Orleans. Some mystery and action in another realm. Great to see the fae again and learn more about their culture.

If anything, I felt the ending was rushed a bit. But it doesn't take away from the richness of these characters.

Great addition to the series!

Harlow, a Siberian tiger shifter, was a part if a special ops team in the Marines. Harlow, her twin Brielle, Axel, and Aodh, her mate. They were hunting a serial killer witch. They track her to a cabin and Harlow thinks Aodh is trying to kill them and she kills him. Now Harlow is part of King's pack and is having dreams about Aodh.
Aodh is a dragon shifter and has been held prisoner in a fae realm, under a castle. He believes Harlow has just abandoned him and never tried hunting for him. But when a dragon attacks, the spell around him cracks and his able to escape. His going for his mate and then the evil witch who imprisoned him.
Aodh and Harlow finally reunite but it take a witch than is almost like a lie detector and finds out which one is telling the truth. When that's settled, they all get together to track down the witch and stop her evilness. But will she take one if them with her?

I loved this book. Action. Shifters. Sex. Second chance love. Both are loyal and fierce fighters.

Ancient Warrior (Ancients Rising Book 8) by Katie Reus
I loved this series and all the characters. This is the story of Harlow (tiger shifter and twin) and Aodh (dragon shifter), and their wonderful friends and family that survived The Fall. She believes he turned against her, and she killed him. He is back and they must join together with their friends to defeat an ancient evil. They must get past the deception and learn to trust again. The love/hate, laughter, tears, danger, new friends and romances, pure evil, and lots of steam get us to a HEA. This book can be read as a stand-alone, while it makes me want more and look forward to the next book in the series.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Funny Unpredictable Romantic Wonderful Characters Great world building Tear-jerker Happily Ever After Easy-to-read Page-turner Scary Entertaining Twisted Action-packed steamy.
