Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read book number 1 in the Lost Bride Trilogy.
Genre: Romance, Paranormal, Mystery
Descriptors: Haunted, ghosts, family history, tragedy, love, family, friendship
Standalone: No?
Rating: 3- 3.5 stars
Typical Nora book. Since I'm a mood reader I picked it up. While I was interested in the overall story, it's very detailed and at times slow paced. Long unnecessary descriptors of daily mundane activities. I got up, I ate breakfast, I took the dog out, I worked, I ate, drank wine, took the dog out.

This was my first Nora Roberts book, and I really enjoyed it. I love this world. I can't wait to read more of this series.

a 5 because how could i be left with such a crazy clifhanger. i loved being able to listen to this as well as have the script to follow. Nora roberts does not disappoint and at this point I am just sad I have not read a series of hers in a while. She captivates me with her top female characters always attached to some supernatural sprinkled with romaticism.

Loved this book so much Nora always does such an amazing job with writing!
I can't wait for more of her books to be available for me to hopefully review!

It’s Nora Roberts so of course it’s good. Sonya has inherited a manor from an unknown relative and moves to Poole’s Bay for the inheritance. Turns out the manor is haunted and the ghosts, good and evil, are seeking her out for help.
I am jealous I don’t have ghosts that clean for me and I hate that this book is a cliffhanger. I know it’s a trilogy, but I expected three standalone romances with it written in a way that even with the ghost mystery they can be read alone. Warning - not the case.
Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nora Roberts is truly synonymous of a good read and this one is a good start to what promises to be a captivating trilogy.
This book has a great blend of romance and supernatural elements. The only thing is that ends on a cliffhanger but I love that I started the series when the second book is already out.

When Sonya learns she has inherited a house from an uncle she never had she figures it might be time to change her life. When she moves in she doesn't believe the house is haunted but the ghost soon change her mind. Here is what I love about this read
- Ms. Roberts wrote a story that made you feel like you were dropped right in the middle of the haunted house
- The haunted house of course - love the good ghosts and the bad ghost made your shudder
- all of the characters were great, including the supporting characters
- So many cute doggies
- The mirror you could walk through and travel back in time
- The mystery of the lost brides
- The story had a great flow and it kept me reading.
- Does end on a cliffhanger and can't wait to read the next one

After discovering that her fiancé wasn't as dedicated to their future as she was Sonja MacTavish decided to part ways with him. Now with no impending nuptials she decides to focus her attention on a recent inheritance she has received from an uncle she never knew existed... it's a mystery she can't wait to unravel.
Inheritance is one of those reads that grabs you from it's opening lines and holds on tight until the page finds you. Alternating between past and present you learn the history of Sonja's family and the things that have happened Victorian mansion she has just inherited. It's an action-packed tale... the paranormal kind and a little of the romantic kind too. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, it had everything necessary for the perfect reading escape! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Ok, this book grabbed my attention so fast. I was intrigued with the history, the characters, and how they moved forward. I do wish this title felt a little more closed out. It is obvious that you need to keep going with the next book. I wonder if I could keep one of the ghosts, which one would I choose. Molly to help clean, Clover for fun music, or Jack to entertain pets. Overall, I will keep going with this series for sure. I think the mirror bumped its way up to tbr list.
I believe this title will be shared on my instagram near the end of July.

This has been my first read from author Nora Roberts, and I like it so far. This story pulled me in right from the start. The prologue captivated my attention and kept me wanting to find out what happened to all the brides and who this woman in black is!
Although the story is a bit repetitive when it comes to Sonya, I don't mind it because the mystery makes up for it. The family history and little bits of new information she uncovers as she lives in the manor are both sad and interesting.
It left me on a cliffhanger, so of course I have to read the second book!!
I give this book a 4 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟 and will see how the second one of the trilogy is.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My first book by Nora Robert’s and wow, I couldn’t put it down! I don’t usually read books with ghosts these days, but who could resist and haunted mansion on the sea coast of Maine ? Each character here is unique, from the lost brides to present day Sonia and Cleo. The story leapt off the page, haunting and vivid and truly well written. Hard to believe Robert’s has written so many books and still retains a freshness and originality!Mathis is a classic storyline of fiction, but it didn’t feel at all contrived. Highly recommend!

Inheritance, the first book in Nora Roberts’ Lost Bride Trilogy, delivers an atmospheric blend of suspense, family intrigue, and paranormal mystery. At the center is Sonya MacTavish, a Boston graphic designer whose ordinary life is upended when she inherits a sprawling, Victorian estate in coastal Maine—bequeathed by an uncle she never knew existed.
As Sonya moves into her eerie new home—bound by a mysterious clause requiring her to live there for three years—she begins unraveling layers of spectral secrets, family curses, and a dark past that refuses to stay buried.
The novel excels in atmosphere. The house, with its creaking halls and spectral whispers, becomes a living, breathing character. Roberts’ signature touch is evident in the richly drawn setting and the emotionally resonant connections between characters. Themes of chosen family, resilience, and the grip of legacy are threaded through with care, and the female-led cast is particularly compelling.
While the narrative occasionally slows and some plot threads feel purposefully reserved for later books, Inheritance is a strong, satisfying opener. It lays the groundwork for what promises to be an enchanting, eerie trilogy—and leaves readers curious to see what comes next.
An engaging fusion of romance, supernatural suspense, and historical mystery—well worth the read.

thank you so much for this book! i totally enjoyed it! at the beginning i was so angry for the main character Sonya, then her life changed and it became a totally different story! i am in the middle of the second book of the trilogy and am looking forward to the third coming out!

It’s a great start to the series. Sonya inherits a house that is haunted but also has her life change for the best or at least it seems that way. I didn’t expect the story to turn out the way it did. It has a good mix of romance and mystery, and it’s a good thriller. I want to know what happens next.

I have always loved reading Nora Roberts books and then k too, a break for awhile and starting reading other genres of books. I have read a couple of Nora Roberts newer books again and I just continue to enjoy them and can’t get enough. This book Inheritance was fantastic! It captured my attention from the very beginning and I just absolutely devoured this book and cannot wait to read the Mirror next.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! Nora Roberts is the GOAT for a reason, I love this series so much

I did enjoy reading this paranormal mystery with a little bit of romance thrown in.
The story is mostly set in a Gothic mansion , located in Pools Bay Maine. The author goes back-and-forth between past and present.. The story starts in 1806, when the first bride died.
Sonia McTavish is the main character she unexpectedly inherits the mansion which was left to her by her father‘s brother, a man she never met and never knew existed. She knew her father had been adopted, but didn’t know he had a twin brother. Apparently, he didn’t know either..
I think a Gothic mansion is a very good setting for a haunted house. Gothic architecture has a lot of pointed archers and steep roofs with Gables and it incorporates medieval details. I prefer Victorian to Gothic but Gothic definitely gives you a more spooky feeling..
I did like Sonia and Trey‘s relationship. I enjoyed their journey. They did seem more like friends than lovers, but I like the fact of friends becoming lovers. It just seemed like they fell too quickly into it. I do like them as a couple but it felt more like they were friends with benefits until towards the end and then you could feel that they did or we’re starting to have feelings.
Things I didn’t like and had to take off points for:
In the beginning, the author describes the house as Gothic, but somewhere towards the end she describes it as Victorian, which is a totally different style.
I also absolutely positively did not like the fact that the story ended in a cliffhanger. I don’t mind a series as long as they’re not ones that end in a cliffhanger that makes you feel like you have to read the next book. A reader should want to read the next book without being forced to.
I’d like to think Net Galley for this free complementary copy of Nora Robert’s book, inheritance, in exchange for an honest review.

I had so much fun reading this book! Sonya is the book’s main character, but her spooky inherited mansion almost steals the show. Thanks to a late uncle she didn’t know she had, the relationship drama & career upheaval she experiences in Boston are just the start of major life changes.
“She’s so brave” went through my head a ridiculous number of times while reading. Her determination to take on things that would send me packing is really entertaining. I like the cast of characters, both seen & unseen, she adds to her inner circle. We should all be so lucky to have a Cleo, Trent, Owen, & Clover in our corner.
Thanks to the author & publisher for allowing me to read a copy via NetGalley. I’m glad I can dive right into book number two w/out a wait.

This is the first one in the series, I received both from netgalley, I want to thank them & the publisher for this opportunity to read these. I was shocked by the aspects of this novel by Nora Robert’s. paranormal, psychological, suspenseful, had me on my toes the whole time. A cliff hanger at the end. Absolutely loved the fmc.

Inheritance by Nora Roberts
Starting Inheritance, the first book in Nora Roberts’ The Lost Bride Trilogy, was like opening a beautifully wrapped gift filled with romance, mystery, and family secrets. Roberts immediately drew me into the story with her signature blend of heartfelt emotion and captivating suspense.
The heroine’s journey—returning to her ancestral home and unraveling the mysteries of her lineage—felt deeply personal and immersive. I loved how Roberts combined the allure of history with the complexity of modern relationships, making the story both timeless and fresh. The tension between uncovering hidden truths and building new connections kept me hooked from start to finish.
What stood out most was the authentic chemistry between the main characters. Their slow-burning romance felt real and earned, layered with vulnerability and hope. Roberts’ rich descriptions made the setting come alive, from the grandeur of the estate to the subtle magic that lingers in the air.
Inheritance is a wonderful beginning to a trilogy that promises love, intrigue, and a touch of enchantment. If you enjoy stories where family legacies and romance intertwine with a bit of mystery, this book is a perfect choice.
