This wasn’t what I expected. I’ve read a few of the authors books and loved them but this was a new one for me and was quite intriguing!!

I'd never heard of the Dread Penny stories before so I was coming in with no idea what I was going to read. The first stories were a little scarier than I usually read. So I often only read this book during the day to prevent nightmares.
But although I am still reading, I have come to love this way of writing. These are highly creative short stories with substance.
I think this would be a wonderful complication to own in print, as the cover and contents are extraordinary.
Kudos to Sarah M. Eden on a unique and diverse collection.
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own

The Dread Penny Society Collection is a delightful collection of Penny Dreadfuls found throughout Sarah M. Eden's Dread Penny Series. These stories are sprinkled throughout the books in the series. Now gathered together in a beautiful hardcover edition, these stories are joined by three stories not published in the books but are perfect additions.

The Penny Dreadfuls are "written" by different characters in the series and reflect their lives and personalities. Danger, intrigue, laughter and romance are characters in the stories and make them so fun to read. All include adventure and suspense but some are geared more for the street children of the time while others hold a little more mystery. The Irish fae are major characters of the famed Mr. King and often King's coincide with events in the books.

If you like the adventures of young ghosts, medical mystery, dangers of museums or the legends of Irish fae, the Dread Penny Society have you covered with their collection. It's the perfect addition to the Dread Penny series.

Penny Dreadful stories were published in installments for readers in the Victorian era who weren’t from the wealthy upper class. This is an impressive work for Eden as each story is written in the style and voice of the character who is its “author”.

This book contains all the Penny Dreadful stories from the five-book series plus a few more. It’s nice to be able to read them without the story being broken up with other stories interspersed. I recommend reading this first. I think the series will be easier to follow if you’re already familiar with the two installment stories found in each book because it can be a little confusing to read three new stories at a time. They’re enjoyable to read and perfect when you’re short on time. Some are funny, some romantic, and some creepy or spooky. I hadn’t realized until looking back at all the stories together that “Mr. King” wrote one of the stories in each book. My favorites are Higglebottom’s School for the Dead and Posie and Pru Detectives for Hire. Thanks to Shadow Mountain Publishing for an advanced copy to use for my review.

Fans of Sarah Eden's The Dread Penny Society will love this collection of Penny Dreadfuls from the series including three new stories. I am simply so impressed with Eden's ability to write and craft such unique and entertaining tales. What impresses me most with these is how she takes on a persona of sorts in the writing, making each story unique to the character and personality of that character that she created. I can’t even describe it, but it’s amazing. There is a mix of gothic tales, romance, and adventure. I definitely enjoyed these and think they are such a fun collection.
I received an advance reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a funtastical read. These short stories are ‘off the wall’ entertaining. From Mystery to Fantasy to comedy to romance you get a little bit of everything. I loved rereading those that have been included in the authors other books, but also to read a few new ones. Sarah M. Eden has such an amazing imagination and talent to put this collection together. Some are a wee bit dark or scary, but I love them all the more. Others are just scary cute and some a delightful mystery romance. I definitely have a few favorites and a few not favorite, but they are all still worth reading and it’s great to have them all in one collection. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing. All opinions are my own, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Genre: Fairy Tale, Mythology, Fantasy
Format: Anthology. Short stories from the Dread Penny Society novels.

This collection is delightful! I'm so glad the publisher decided to put all the stories the members of the Dread Penny Society had written into one collection.

They are clever and are written in a fun style to make them dramatic, like the original penny serials must've been.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading each on on its own. And I highly recommend this book.

Happy reading!

This book cover is gorgeous! I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy. I've seen the author showing a video of it and all of the special touches that were made to it and it just looks so pretty!

I love that all of the Penny Dreadful stories from Sarah M. Eden's Dread Penny Society series are now all in one book! How fun is that! And bonus...3 new Penny Dreadfuls for us fans!

When reading the books of the series I had a hard time not turning ahead to read all of the Penny Dreadfuls straight through and not having to wait for the next installment. Lol! But I was good and waited. Mostly because I knew they correlated with the main story and what was happening so I wanted to have it all revealed in due time. And I loved that it felt kind of like what it felt like when reading Penny Dreadfuls back in the Victorian Era. They had to wait for each installment to be printed, so in a very small sense we got to feel what that was like. Lol. Very small sense of course!

But now we can sit and read our favorites, all at once or one installment at a time if you're wanting to be authentic. Pick your favorite Dread Penny Author and read just theirs. Or read the whole collection at once. However you prefer, but I hope you enjoy them just like I do!

Content: Clean. Each story has different elements to them. Most have a gothic feel, others have some paranormal aspects to them.

I received a copy from the publisher, Shadow Mountain Publishing, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This is a great collection. I enjoyed these stories in the Dread Penny Society series, but it's fun to have them in this collection and being able to read them in their entirety. Mr. King's stories are my favorite. I am amazed how Ms. Eden can write all these stories in different voices/genres.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through Netgalley and this is my honest review.

This is a compilation which allows readers to get the complete penny dreadfuls all together. However anyone who has read the series will be familiar with these and they are not as good in a compilation as they are in giving insights into the focus character's in the main books. Useful for someone who wants them all together in one place. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This collection is an answer to a wish many of us who've read the Dread Penny Society series have wished for! We now have all the penny dreadfuls that are interspersed in the five book Dread Penny Society series in one book! But wait! There's more! Not only do you get the 10 penny dreadfuls that are in the DPS series, you get 3 NEW stories!!

There are many styles to the stories and they seem to be written by several authors, but they're all written by the talented Sarah M. Eden. I don't know how she does it but I'm here for all of it. This is a fantastic collection and it's nice to be able to read these short stories in one sitting instead of chapter by chapter.

I received an ebook by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I freaking love this series and now all five of them in one book, yes please!! Eden weaves such wonderful stories that the reader is just immersed and doesn't want to come up for air until the very end. Love this so much!

I went into this expecting Historical Romance but these are really a variety of short stories - some I enjoyed more than others but I applaud the author’s ability to write such diverse stories

It is fun to have a collection of the penny dreadful tales told in each of the Dread Penny Society books. Each tale is creative. Many involve paranormal elements.
I enjoyed reading the tales in their entirety without the break of the main story. I think the tales have more impact when you can read them straight through.
The three new penny dreadful tales are great additions. I’ll admit that Mr. King’s stories are my favorites.
Thanks to Netgalley and Shadow Mountain for the opportunity to enjoy this book.

This is an intriguing collection of weird and wonderful short stories, from the romantic to the magical to the macabre, most with some element of the paranormal. Readers of the Dread Penny series will recognise most, but some are new. It's a while since I read most of them, and it was interesting to re-read, but I also enjoyed the new ones. Some are more my cup of tea than others, and I probably overall prefer them as part of the original series (interspersed with story), but it's still an interesting collection, possibly even a good introduction to the Dread Penny series - though I can imagine some who prefer fantasy enjoying these even if they might not want to read the main series. All in all, a good read, with stories both familiar and new for readers of the Dread Penny books, but also completely independent of those books for readers who just want to enjoy some 'Penny Dreadfuls'.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Each short story is written in the style of the Victorian fiction that became so popular during that time period. From ghost stories to adventures to mysteries, The author weaves these gothic tales among her romantic storylines, making it the perfect way to celebrate the Dread Penny Society series
I loved reading these penny dreadfuls in the author’s Dread Penny Society series & whilst reading each book I savoured them & read them after I’d finished each book. I love that they’ve been combined in one book of their own
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Oh man! I have been a fan of Sarah Eden for YEARS! Like nearly since the beginning. Seeing a series come to an end is always a bit melancholy, but to see all of these beauties all together is SWOONY! I just loved all of these. I don’t know how she takes something and puts it in every book, yet makes each book so unique. So different and lovely. Your will be sucked in from book one and sad to see the end!
