Bring on the nostalgia of the 90s in this new book by Lindy Ryan!

In a small town in Southeast Texas, Evans Funeral Parlor is the only funeral home in town. Owned by the women of the Evans family, they have steady business of getting people ready for the afterlife. The normal day to day routine has been the same for the last 15 years until the dead start to rise and the Evans family are the only ones that can stop it.
The family must find out who is behind rising the dead before it is too late.

I loved this book! Each character was great, having a back story that made me want more and bringing a little bit more of the puzzle. I had so many questions throughout the book. What happened 15 years ago? What happened to Grace’s husband? Who is the master strigoi who is rising the dead and who is next? Each question was answered and the ending was perfect for this book, leaving me completely satisfied in this mystery. If you are a fan of vampire stories with a little southern humor, this is the book for you!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to review the advanced copy of Bless Your Heart. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Bless Your Heart" by Lindy is a compelling fusion of horror, mystery, and Southern charm. It tells the story of the Evans women, funeral parlor owners in a small Southeast Texas town, facing a supernatural crisis as the dead rise as "Strigoi." Lindy offers a novel take on vampire lore, intertwining it with intriguing family secrets and multifaceted characters. However, some plot points could benefit from further development. Despite this, fans of horror and Southern Gothic might still find it an interesting read.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

I’d like to thank St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

Crafting an innovative approach to a zombie narrative is no easy feat, yet Lindy managed to achieve it, and with four FMCS who showcase their own unique strengths. I really loved that Lindy used the term strigoi to refer to the restless. I hope there’s a sequel where we find out if Ducey’s tough demeanor goes beyond the grave and what side of the rose bush Luna ends up on.

I don’t understand all the hype about this book- it is so poorly written that it was a struggle to finish. I do not recommend it.

I think I am in the minority with my review but I did read one other two star review. This book is science fiction. Too bizarre for my tastes. I did finish it to the very end. It reminded me of the horror movies kids watch on Halloween. Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books for granting me this book to read and review. All opinions are my own. #St. Martin’s Press. #BlessYour Heart #NetGalley.

This book was billed as a mystery-horror novel and I thought the premise sounded neat. Turns out it was more horror than mystery and that really isn't my cup of tea.

I'm definitely in the minority though so it if sounds interesting you should check it out. But just remember that it's a horror novel and when the synopsis says "blood-soaked" they aren't kidding.

This story is a blast! Ryan has a talent for making horror, comedy, and the Supernatural flow seamlessly. I was thoroughly satisfied at the end of this, but also super glad I read it during the day.

You know how some roller coasters have a slow climb and others go from 0 to 60 in under five seconds?

Well, let’s just say this book went from 0 to 60 in under one second. Bless Your Heart wastes no time setting the scene for what kind of ride you’re in for: it’s gruesome, hilarious, and has the deep Southern spirit that the title implies.

With visceral descriptions that made my stomach churn with nausea and heave with laughter in equal measures, Lindy Ryan has written one hell of a horror novel. (Emphasis on HELL.)

Read this if you love:

Horror with equal parts blood/guts and humor
Supernatural
Tongue-in-cheek Southern vibes
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or any other paranormal 90s show
