This was a fun read and made me think that I, too, could make my garden look absolutely amazing and win a gardening competition. And then I remembered that I do not have a green thumb and I should leave the fancy, complicated gardening to the people who absolutely love it and I'll stick with the basics.
I always enjoy a small-town setting in a romance book, with neighbours popping in and out, where everyone has an opinion, and your business certainly isn't your own.
I wasn't always keen on Noah acting out of spite, at times, but I think the characters held each other accountable, challenged each other, and their love felt real.
I dual read this as an e-book and audiobook and also enjoyed the narration of the book.
Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the ebook; all opinions are my own.

This was cute! A gardening competition was a new setting for me. I overall enjoyed this! Small town, enemies to lovers, and closed door romance.

DNF at 15% - this one just wasn’t for me. I didn’t love the characters and couldn’t get into it. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

A sincere thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hedging Your Bets was a sweet enemy-lovers novel. I wasn’t sure I could get behind a book with a gardening contest, but I found the characters to be interesting and likable. Just to note, lots of body complex issues deeply embedded in this one!

This book has been on my Netgalley shelf for years and I haven’t picked it up. No shade to the author or the book, I think my taste has just changed and I’m not the right person to review it anymore.

A cute book with good tropes! I really enjoyed this book
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this review copy and the opportunity !

I really wanted to like this one. The premise had me hooked and I'm not a fan of books with a lot of spice, so this seemed right up my alley, but I felt like the execution fell flat and struggled to finish it. It had all of the ability to be an adorable romance, but I felt like the writing and general organization of the plot needed one more round of edits.

This book was such a fun concept with the garden contest as the two neighbors, Gillian and Noah compete against each other. Both are coming from a place where they do not want a relationship but their connection and banter, left me hoping for it to happen! This story had the small-town vibe that I was hoping for and included some meddling neighbors which always brings their own qualities. I plan to return to Willow Creek and check out "The Rom-Com Agenda". Thank you to St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Hedging Your Bets is an enemies-to-lovers romance between feuding neighbors. When Noah moves next door to Gillian in Willow Cove, he is ready to start over again and starts by tangling his messy yard. He doesn't realize that part of that yard is the prized garden that Gillian has been working on for a competition. This starts a feud that goes from hate to love. It was a fun romantic comedy.

I love an enemies to lovers trope!
I struggled with certain parts of this book, like others have mentioned. I’m not sure I agree with how body image was portrayed in the book, and I found some parts a little triggering at times but that’s just me!

This was difficult to get through. I think there was too much emphasis on the FMCs body and her being like “it’s okay that I’m fat because I’m healthy” its almost a bit body shaming to those who aren’t “healthy” because let’s be real the idea of being “healthy” is a bit of a social construct. I don’t know I couldn’t really get past it.

This is a fun romcom with a quirky cast of characters. The enemies to lovers arc centers around a neighborly dispute over hedges and a small town garden competition. There are elderly busybodies (the best kind) and great plus size rep in the pharmacist main character. I really enjoyed the audiobook!

I really wanted to like this book!!! I think the premise was really cute, I loved the dual POV and the characters were mostly enjoyable. I just don’t think the writing style is for me. I also found it hard how the main character kept on commenting on her size. I LOVE big girl romances and representation, but I didn’t quite enjoy how this one was portrayed. (Which is definitely a me thing and not necessarily on the author)
Rating it 2 stars, even though I DNF’d it doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s perfect book!

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.
Unfortunately, I decided that this wasn’t the book for me and have decided to not finish reading.
I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to read this book!

thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for a review.
this book was a cute, light-hearted romance read.
it was alright, nothing particularly struck out to me from other books.
only complaint is there was way too many characters to keep track of in my opinion.

This was an adorable rom-com! I always love a well-done enemies-to-lovers trope, and this one didn’t disappoint. The gardening side plot added a charming and unique touch to the story as well.

Gillian Pritchard has been single for five years and, her friends think she should start dating and she’s tries online. After chatting to the men and texting, she goes on dinner and coffee dates. What a disaster, she discovers the men seem fine on their profile, it's a different story when she meets them, they have no personality, lack basic manners and conversation skills and some don’t like women with a few curves. Gillian is a pharmacist in Willow Cove, she knows about food, nutrition, her doctor has pronounced her perfectly healthy, she’s a normal sized women and comfortable in her own skin. Gillian loves gardening, she decides to devote her time to winning the local contest and she’s tired of always coming third. Noah West moves to Willow Cove after his relationship ends, he has fond memories of spending the summers here with his Uncle Manny as a teenager and he buys a house next door to Gillian. she's mad when her new neighbour stars changing things on their shared boundary, without asking, the stubborn man has no idea what he’s doing in his garden and when she needs to stay focused. I liked the romance, the nosy neighbors were a lot of fun and they almost need their own book. Many thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher.

Hedging your bets is a fun flirty novel that you won't wanna put down. Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel.

I just really didn't like this. I didn't connect with either of the characters and was struggling to get through it. I initially picked this book up solely because of the cute cover and the title so I am a little disappointed I didn't enjoy it.

I’ll say that I did not like the characters and I did not like the plot. The MMC left behind his child (doesn’t matter that they were not related by blood) bought a company without looking at the books and is shocked that it’s failing and has this huge tax debt he has to pay. The small town politics with bribery. “You help me and I’ll give you an extension on your tax payment”. Fucking gross.
Now, FMC is “I might be fat but it's ok because I'm healthy”, and it rubbed me the wrong way. I did not like her at all. Nothing personal.
I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
p.s. Lol. I just realized I DNFed another book by this author the same time last year. It’s my own fault.
