This is the third book in the Maxwell sisters series. This story follows Olive and Bax’s relationship. I loved seeing characters from previous books as we watch Olive and Bax’s relationship form and grow.

Overall, this was a cute story. I really liked how infatuated Bax was with Olive. However, it fell kinda short for me. I was hoping for a much bigger "climax" and nothing really happened. I did really love Harper and her sarcastic comments.

"Not Your Crush's Cauldron" is a magical mix of romance, adventure, and supernatural shenanigans. Perfect for fans of the series, this book will have you laughing, swooning, and cheering for Olive and Bax all the way!

This book follows Olive the final triplet in the maxwell family to find love. I really enjoyed that the focus was about her finding ways to get outside her comfort zone. However I did feel like it lacked some of the plot dynamics the first two books had. Olive is the most relatable of the three sisters and I was so excited for her to finally get a book. Her friendship with Bax , the long standing crush they have for each other, and their forced proximity made the tension in this book sky rocket. I feel like the chemistry of the two main characters in this book was superior.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved every book in this series! I’m a sucker for witchy romances!

A fun paranormal forced proximity romance. I liked that the hero was a guardian angel, and the heroine's bucket list of things she wanted to experience.

Thank you to netgalley and St Martin Press for a free copy of this book. It was my favourite in the series, while the other two weren’t for me, this one hit all the right spots. The chemistry between the two main characters was amazing. I loved the main character and the fact that she was trying to get out of her comfort zone. I also loved that Bax was there for all of it. Overall a really cute paranormal romance!

If April Asher writes it, I’m going to read it!

Although Olive was my least favorite of the Maxwell sisters, the trilogy of the Supernatural Sisters has been so much fun!

Book three follows Olive who is a witch, and her new roommate Bax who is a guardian angel. The story unfolds as they navigate her Dare I Dockit list, an assignment she made for her students but decided to try for herself in order to get out of her comfort zone.

As the youngest of the witch triplets, I loved seeing Olive’s growth and her learning to be more daring and outspoken. I resonated the most with Olive so I loved this for her!

I am truly hoping there will be a book #4 about the honorary Maxwell sister, Harper. Here’s to hoping 🤞🏻

Thank you to NetGalley, April Asher, St. Martin’s Press, and St. Martin’s Griffin for the digital arc of this book.

While the characters were my favorite in this series this book fell a little flat for me. I am usually a huge fan of paranormal romance but this one seemed to have a hard time keeping my attention. This story follows Olive a teacher to the paranormal in her class she challenges her students to step outside their comfort zone. When Olive was challenged as to why she doesn’t do the challenge as well she decides this is the year to try. Bax a guardian angel comes into Olives life he ends up getting assigned to be her guardian angel. Being a Guardian Angel comes with a lot of secrecy and Bax is unable to tell her. While it starts out as a job it quickly turns into more.

I really liked Olive and Bax in this book but felt like the plot was kind of barely there instead focusing more on the romance. personally I need a good plot in a romance book or I start to lose interest and this book had me losing interest. This book felt a little low stakes for me but could see this being enjoyed but a lot of people but just wasn’t for me. There are a ton of spicy scenes that are really well written but were a bit excessive and kind of pulled me out of the story but again I think it’s more a personal thing. I would recommend this book for sure. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

Olive prefers teaching her students about all things supernatural and leave the magic to her sisters but when she assigns her students to think and do outside of their comfort zones, she's left with the truth that she never has done that herself. She creates the Dare I Docket list and jumping right into things she wouldn't do is moving in with her (hot and tattooed) friend, Bax. Bax is a guardian angel and finding himself close to losing his wings, his last chance at keeping his job is to watch over none other than Olive. Protecting her while helping her through her list proves tough especially when he cannot tell her she is his assignment. This proves even more difficult as he starts to fall in love with Olive.

This book was so much fun but I did feel a little out of the loop with all the characters because I've never read any of the other books in this series. I was a little confused in that way but also a little intrigued to go read them. I think Olive and Bax were such fun characters to follow and the supernatural aspect of it all really did make this plot so much more fun.

A solid 4 stars.

This book was just okay. Not great, but not terrible. I like contemporary romance, but this just didn't stand out as something wonderful for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Very cute novel about love in the supernatural world. Friends to roommates to lovers but all do this took time and some secrecy and patience and going through a list to expand ones personal growth.

I enjoyed this book. It's just fun, nothing too deep or intense. It's hilarious and brimming with character, like your great Aunt Marge telling you the wild adventures of her youth, if Great Aunt Marge was a witch, magic was real, and the world of Charmed became an absolute reality.

The ending is a cheese fest. But it's pretty cute, so I'll allow it.

Tropes:
Friends to Roommates to Lovers
Banter!
Witchy triplet x guardian angel (yes, they went there a la Charmed and it works)
Nickname: angel
Tattooed Biker x Highly Organized Professor
Gives her his room
Soul Mates
Taylor Swift is their jam
Thirty-something MCs
Alanis Morissette heartbreak music
Sisterly banter (perfect depiction of sisters)

Content: lots of innuendos and more explicit talk and daydreams, pierced n*pples and Jacob's ladder, explicit s*x

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. This review is voluntarily written and the thoughts and opinions contained in this review are my own.

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕀 𝕃𝕀𝕂𝔼𝔻:
• i love this world that @novelsbyapril has built. My favorite thing (besides Edie and the triplets) about this series is the integration of the magical world into the real world. And I love how it’s not limited to just witches- there are shifters, guardian angels, demons…you name it.
• the humor in this book is just fantastic. I loved seeing Ollie have her own story, and how it’s so different from her sisters. I also loved seeing her sisters and their growth through her eyes
• we got more of a glimpse of the “bromance” that has formed between Bax, Linc, Damian and Adrian and I kinda need more of that 🤗
• honestly? Gave me a new appreciation for piercings, if you catch my drift lolol

𝕎ℍ𝔸𝕋 𝕎𝔸𝕊ℕ’𝕋 𝕄𝕐 ℂ𝕌ℙ 𝕆𝔽 𝕋𝔼𝔸:
• there wasn’t a lot of magic, which is very in line with Ollie in the other books. But I just wish there was a bit more.

𝕆𝕍𝔼ℝ𝔸𝕃𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊:
This series is my guilty pleasure in the best way. I fell in love with Vi and Linc two years ago (and they are still my ride or die- billionaire alpha wolf shifter? Sign me up always) and every time I read one of these books it just makes me feel so warm and fuzzy (not that these books are warm and fuzzy, mind you- they have some k*nk to them). I was unsure about Bax and Ollie from the previous books, but their chemistry spilled off the pages and brought them to life. I also loved seeing the bromance forming between the men- all I need now is a Harper book and an angel/shifter/demon bromance novella and I’m set 🤣

I am always up for a supernatural read. Whether it’s a romcom or actually scary, I will most likely love it. This one is obviously a romcom, and it was so cute! I didn’t realize it was part of a series, and I definitely plan on reading the other books (but don’t worry, you can easily read this as a standalone).

Olive is a witch that always plays it safe and follows the rules. Bax is a guardian angel who can’t seem to stop breaking rules. I LOVED Olive and Bax. Their chemistry was intense from the very start of the book, and it only got better as the story continued.

Bax is probably one of my favourite MMCs and he was almost kind of giving off Rhys vibes. Long hair, tattooed, piercings in…interesting places. Rough around the edges but fiercely loyal to the people he loves.

There was also a big focus on found family, which I always love to read about.

If you’re a romance reader, make sure you check this one out!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for my gifted copy!

This was a cute, witchy rom com. I have really enjoyed this series and have been waiting for olive's story. I love seeing the updates on the other sisters and their lives. Ollie is the more reserved triplet but she really took herself out of her comfort zone in this one, taking risks and chances. I love the friends to lovers/roomate romance between this witch and guardian angel.

A super fun supernatural romance that was sweet 3rd book of the series. It can also be enjoyed as a standalone I did enjoy Not Your ex's Hex better than this one but the was a good read as well.

Rating: 2.5/5 stars

I have been committed to read the whole series, mostly because I was intrigued about the third sister Olive, and also really interested about the guardian angel Baxter, and was super excited when I heard that this book would be about them.

However, this series has been a bit of a miss for me in its execution, and this book is no exception.
I would actually say that it was the lowest installment so far, and I am no interested to continue reading if more books come out.

The premise of Olive being a professor in a university with a bad roommate situation, and moving into Baxter's apartment as a result is really good, especially when we are in both of their heads and realize that they have had a crush on each other for years at this point.

However, we barely see Olive actually teaching, and the whole plot for her is that she has this grant that she wants to get.
It could be interesting, but the whole thing was so unrealistic to me that I couldn't enjoy it.

Meanwhile, Baxter is a guardian angel who has been having issues with his assignments, and needs to succeed in the brand new one given to him, protect Olive?!
This setting was always going to be annoying to me, as it leads to a lot of secrets and miscommunication. I do have to say that it did not lead to a huge and long breakup, and was handled pretty well overall.

Adding the fact that Baxter is AFRAID OF HEIGHTS was hilarious but also nonsensical, as he is an angel with WINGS... And while it does lead to funny scenes, it felt a bit repetitive in the end, and I did not like the added comment about Baxter not caring too much about his fear while being with Olive... Regardless of how much you love someone, if you have a fear it will not DISAPPEAR through the power of love...

The main thing that aggravated me though was the non-stop horniness of both main characters...
And when they start a relationship, Olive who was very shy suddenly is fine with having sex in her OWN OFFICE in the university??? While her students could be barging in, or even other professors??? And she is trying to get a grant approved, so why would she agree, apart from being so in heat that her judgment is affected?
A small thing that annoyed me was the reference to Baxter's piercings. He has many, and in very intimate places, but Olive is so turned on by it from the very start. Is it a turn on for some people? Apparently so much for Olive that she kept referring to it all the time... It was a little too much.

And last, but certainly not least, the possessiveness of Baxter was really too much... There is a way to do it, so that you can see someone is protecting you, but Baxter went to the other side of that line he should not have crossed, and just straight up MADE choices for Olive without her consent.

April Asher pens a hilarious and heartfelt witchy romcom in Not Your Crush’s Cauldron. I had not read the first two books in the series but that was not an issue as this can fully be read as a standalone.

This book follows the third Maxwell sister, Olive - a buttoned up witch who decides to take a walk on the wild side after assigning her college students a project aimed to veer them out of their comfort zones. Olive’s newfound sense of adventure lands her on the supernatural radar of the GAA and she is assigned a Guardian Angel - none other than her friend, roommate and secret crush Bax Donovan.

The romance between Olive and Bax was charming, and the forbidden nature of Guardian Angel x Assignment spiced things up! I also loved the fact that these two had previously developed history which only heightened their chemistry and made for some delightful exchanges.

The found family aspect of this book was enticing and made me want to read the first two books to see how Violet and Rose’s stories unfold. Not Your Crush’s Cauldron was a quick and engaging read and I hope we get more stories in this universe!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
