I received an ARC from NetGalley.

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance between divorcées.

Also so cute in the airport setting.

This book was so good! I just love this author. The book had me laughing out loud. It was an interesting twist to have two authors with different points of views. I thought it made the story move along quickly.

Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne & Anthony LeDonne is the story of Katherine a NY City attorney on the brink of being asked to be partner in her firm. The only standing in her way is, the pesky Holiday Season and a concussion she gets from being in a car accident. If things weren’t bad enough, the accident happens in front of her office and HR calls her Emergency Contact; her ex-husband Tom. Tom is on his way out of the city and he can’t wait to start celebrating the holidays. He is heading to his home town and he is ready to propose to his new girlfriend. The only thing standing in this way is getting a call about his ex. At a crossroads Tom realizes he can’t leave Katherine alone, in her condition. So in an attempt to get him home, on time celebrate Christmas, Tom decides to bring Katherine home with him. What should be a quick flight and a few days of rest, becomes a nightmare road real that tests Katherine and Tom’s very beings. Can they make it to Chicago in one piece? Can they even be friends, at the end of this? Or can they at least find peace and joy during this time of the year? You will have to read it to see but you won’t be disappointed. The characters have a way to go to make amends but there is always hope. They are very cute together and their personalities really do show.. and their friendship is undeniable.. even if they can’t see it at first. I want to thank Netgalley & the authors for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book. I love a good Holiday Rom Com. I hope you enjoy it too..

Even though this novel is set at Christmas, Emergency Contact can (and should) be read all year round. I want to be friends with Katherine and Tom, the novel’s protagonists, and was sad to say goodbye to them when I finished this title. Add this title to your shelf if you like stories of misadventure or second-chance romances.

This story is a heartwarming second-chance romance with depth and relatable characters. Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne and Anthony Ledonne is a delightful romantic treat that I devoured in one sitting.

Meet Katherine Tate. An ambitious NYC attorney who finds herself in an unexpected situation. Diagnosed with a concussion, she must be monitored for 48 hours to ensure her condition doesn't worsen. The catch? She forgot to update her emergency contact information, and the person they call is her ex-husband.

She reluctantly agrees to travel with Tom for the holidays but thanks to a blizzard, what should have been a quick plane ride turns into an antagonistic overnight misadventure.

I adored the setting of this story. The snowy backdrop of Chicago during the holidays really added charm and a layer of cozy. I found Layne and Ledonne crafted terrific characters in Katherine and Tom. They’re everything you want: flawed, genuine, and their chemistry leaps off the pages.

From laughter to tears, this rom-com delivers all of the emotions. Whether you're looking for writing that shines, laughter, love, or a touch of holiday magic at any time of year, this book delivers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

When Katherine gets diagnosed with a concussion, the hospital calls her emergency contact - her ex-husband Tom. Unable to be left alone, Katherine agrees to travel to Chicago with him for the holidays. But thanks to a blizzard, what should have been a quick plane ride turns into an antagonistic overnight misadventure that stirs up old feelings even as Tom prepares to propose to his new girlfriend on Christmas Eve.

I thought this was so fun! I’m normally not a fan of the love triangle trope, but I found myself rooting for Katherine and Tom to get back together. I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend the audiobook.

Second chance romances don’t always work for me, but this one really did! It has the most clever set up. Nora Ephron’s fingerprints all over it. A++ banter! Loved it! A pitch perfect holiday read.

A day goes horribly wrong, and things get worse even when you dont expect them to... this is what happens for Katherine and Tom, ex's on quite the holiday journey. This was an easy, quick read, and i really enjoyed the book. I've enjoyed everything I've read by Lauren Layne, I like her style of writing.

Thanks to Netgalley and Blackstone Publishing for the gifted book. All opinions are my own.

Katherine is an ambitious NYC attorney vying for the promotion her firm always grants at Christmas. And that's the ONLY thing she I looking forward to this Christmas season. But when she has an accident and has to be monitored for a concussion, her ex-husband is called because she never did get around to updating her emergency contact. Now she has to agree to head to Chicago with him for his family's Christmas.

Tom has plans to propose to his new girlfriend on Christmas Eve, but when he get's presented with taking care of Katherine, he can't leave her in the lurch. But of course this trip cannot go smoothly, and as they run into one roadblock after another, their emotional GPSes may be rerouting.

What a fun read! I normally hate the "Are We There Yet?," trope but this one nails the humor and heart so well. I think because the travel mishaps made Katherine and Tom deal with the reasons their marriage failed and realize their own faults. I liked the themes of reconciliation and personal growth. And their chemistry and banter was top notch. What a fun holiday (but not too holiday-ish read)!

This is a closed door, kisses only rom com. It does have adult language.

I absolutely loved this book! A humorous and heartwarming story that follows Katherine and Tom, a divorced couple who have been avoiding each other until an accident lands Katherine in the hospital and Tom is called because he is her emergency contact. The hijinks that ensue is pure chaos and fun!

Emergency Contact definitely has a healthy dose of angst and raw emotion because it centers on a second chance romance, This story is full of hilarious moments that can only be found in a romcom! The quick wit and hilarious barbs had me laughing so hard!
When Katherine's ex-husband is called after she gets in accident because she never updated her emergency contacts and actually shows up at the hospital she wants to send him packing but concussion protocol stipulates that if she wants to be released someone has to be able to take of her. The last thing Tom wants to do is bring his ex-wife home for the holidays especially since he plans on proposing to his new girlfriend on Christmas Eve. But how could he possibly leave her hurt and alone in a hospital? Can the two of them survive this unexpected reunion?
Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the eARC.

I can always count on Lauren Layne to deliver a fun rom-com and Emergency Contact, co-written with Anthony Ledonne is no exception. While a bit over the top at times, this is a quick, delightful read that kept my interest from start to finish.

A holiday romcom that feels like you’re watching a movie from the 2000s. While I didn’t fall as hard as I hoped for this one it was a cute read

I really enjoyed this one for a holiday story with substance. I have recommended this to readers who enjoy a holiday story that is a little more edgy than a Hallmark movie. I feel like this would make a great movie with two leads who are full of witty banter and a compelling story. Katherine and Tom are a couple you want to see succeed. All of their misadventures make it a can't put down. I was interested to see that the authors are a married couple - I believe that is what gave the dialogue such a zing! I look forward to another collaboration.

This was a fun read, but sadly not one of my favorites — and I'm not 100% sure why that is...

Even still, it was an enjoyable story as Katherine is forced to face the holidays with her ex-husband who is about to propose to his new girlfriend. They both miss each other, but a lack of communication is what seems to have pulled them apart once before. Will they let that happen again before it's too late?

I loved reading this for the holidays, I just wish it had been a bit faster in pacing. It felt like their journey dragged on — more so than was necessary, in my personal opinion. But it was amusing to see everything that could go wrong actually going wrong on this trip of theirs.

Tropes:
- holiday romcom
- second chance romance
- enemies to lovers
- sweet romance
- mutual pining

Y’all! MY WHOLE HEART. This book was a cozy warm hug that filled me with holiday JOY. I will hands down read + love anything that @bylaurenlayne writes. So I was ecstatic to find out that she and her husband co-wrote this holiday novel! Told from dual POV, this is the story of Katherine, a lawyer focused on making partner and Tom, her ex-husband focused on proposing to his new girlfriend on Christmas Eve. Divorced for several years, the two are foisted back together again when Katherine suffers an accident and Tom is still listed as her emergency contact. Katherine can’t be left alone due to her injuries and Tom won’t miss Christmas with his family and soon to be new fiance. What follows is a hilarious story of hijinks (think Planes, Trains and Automobile vibes) as the two navigate traveling to Chicago from NYC during a blizzard two days before Christmas. Along the way, they settle up old miscommunications, meet some colorful characters + fall back in love with one another. I’m not typically a fan of second chance romance but WOW did this love story work for me. There was so much tenderness, communication, banter, chemistry and swoon that I couldn’t help but root for these two! I appreciated how sensitive subjects of grief and forgiveness were handled as well.

Thank you Blackstone Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!

I absolutely loved this one! It had such witty banter. I enjoyed the Christmas feel without the cliche Christmas references. It was a breath of fresh air in a Christmas enemies to lovers romance. I could not get enough of the chemistry and banter. This is a very unique Christmas story. I mean I have never read a book like this I do not know if there is actually another book out there like this. However if there is I will be reading that one too!

Katherine is the Grinch of Christmas and Tom is her ex-husband who is still her emergency contact. So when Katherine is diagnosed with a concussion and needs to be monitored for 48 hours to make sure it does not get worse. Tom could not get these 48 hours over with as soon as possible. He has a girlfriend to make his fiance. So when literally everything goes wrong in Katherine and Tom's travels. Could there be more to their love than they ever realized? Will all the wrong things lead to some very right things for Katherine and Tom?
