CRIMSON SCIMITAR: One of the most surprising thrillers ever written.
One thing that is true about me is that I am easily intrigued. And that often leads me to books that just blow my mind. This was certainly the case with CRIMSON SCIMITAR, the awesome novel by SP Grogan, which asks a question that puts the spotlight on two of the most hot topics of our time: What if Bin Laden had been captured by...a bunch of viral Internet superstars and tried in an impromptu court of law with everyone in the world watching? And does this book ever surprise!
Booker Langston, a defense attorney, teams up with fashion superstar Samantha Carlisle and video game mogul Hugh Fox, and these 3 send funds to the cast and crew of a reality show called „King's Retribution", led by former special forces member David "Storm" King, who has always wanted a ratings boom for his reality show. Mr. Grogan does a great job with fleshing out each and every character so that their motivations are understood, Even Bin Laden. He comes across as a complex, proud, revenge-driven man, not a cartoonish villain. Khalaf, his right-hand-man, is complex as well, especially for a fanatical Jihadi. The whole book is chock-full of action, but also deep, meaningful discussions about fame, power and terrorism, and is highly recommended to anyone who likes their thrillers with a healthy alternate history twist.
